Nashville has so many phenomenal places to eat at that students say you could eat at a different place every day for a year! There are several options right on the other side of Belmont Boulevard. Chago’s Cantina serves up reasonably-priced Mexican food, while PM is known for its sushi and burgers. If you’re looking for healthier or vegetarian choices, Kalamata's has a pita and hummus plate that’s fantastic—in fact, nearly all of the entrées at this Mediterranean restaurant are vegetarian. On the other end of Belmont Boulevard, you’ll find one of the best burgers in the city at Burger Up. Just across the street, El Molino serves Mexican food that’s even less expensive than Chago’s and, some would say, even better.

Just down the street, Hillsboro Village is full of incredible dining options. Jackson’s Bar & Bistro is a student favorite—you have to try the cookie dough egg rolls just for the sake of experience! Next door, Sunset Grill is a more intimate restaurant and the perfect date location. The food is delicious but not so expensive that paying for two is going to break the bank. Sweet CeCe’s, a fabulous self-serve frozen yogurt joint, is a popular hangout spot for college students. They offer “Two-Punch Tuesdays,” where customers get their loyalty cards punched twice—after 10 punches, your next purchase is free! One of Nashville’s hidden gems is Rotier’s, nestled near Vanderbilt’s campus, not quite in the hustle of Hillsboro Village. This hole-in-the-wall place serves classic American food and the best milkshake you’ll ever have. You can’t help but feel like you’ve stepped into one of those diners in old movies the second you walk through the doors. But don’t limit yourself to these recommendations—explore the city! You’ll find your favorite restaurants in no time.

Did You Know?
  • It is not unusual to find people lined out onto the block waiting for Pancake Pantry to open, rain or shine.
  • Bongo Java, the bohemian coffee shop across the street from Belmont, puts on shows upstairs in its very small, very intimate theater called the "Bongo After Hours."
  • The world's first combination candy bar, the Goo Goo Cluster, was born in Nashville in 1912. It was named after the inventor Howard Campbell's newborn son's first words. It has been featured on the Food Network's "Unwrapped" and is actor James Garner's favorite candy.
