The financial aid office is ALWAYS quick to respond to any inquiries I have. And not only do they provide information to the questions I initially asked, but they include additional information!

Our school is meant to help students out no matter the race or ethnic background. Our school is filled with friendly staff members who goal is to create a safe environment for the students to be in. I lived on campus for a semester and honestly that was the best semester. There were security guards checking throughout campus in the day and at night making sure the campus was safe and no harm was going around. We have a tons of campus activities that are offered to us such as $3 movie nights on Wednesday's, we have luau dances one a year, the Hispanic American Leadership Organization celebrate Hispanic heritage month with piñatas and delicious Mexican food. Our sports have what called big brother big sister who help out the little kids for volunteer work. There are numerous activities to get involved in. Most importantly they do an outstanding job on making you feel like a BCC Cougar family. Something I will always appreciate.

Financial aid screwed me over. Not the staffing from Barton, but the federal. They promised me full Pell but a week after school started they only gave me 500. Financial aid helped me get scholarships arranged and worked around my grant money that I was given. They also helped me arrange getting all the money that was going to be paid back to me. If you are going to work with them I suggest getting everything a month or two in advance before starting classes and triple checking that everything is done, turned in, signed, and archived. I had all my documents lost 3 times while starting classes and finally just made one stack with all the paperwork and put it in one envelope and walked it to them and watched them to make sure it was saved and put in the right spot.
