3 College Freshman

Local Area: There is not much to do in the town of Azusa but since it is only half an hour away from LA and the beach, most students go there on the weekends. If you choose not to leave campus, there are a lot of events as well so you won't be bored.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I got the highest academic scholarship; since my family thought that we needed more money, my mom talked to financial aid. Five minutes later, I had $2,000 more per year just added onto my scholarship! The process is very easy, because financial aid packages are set up with tuition.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: APU does not offer Greek Life with the exception of the Medical frat/sorority (whatever it is) and maybe one or two more Greek Life groups having to do with students' majors.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I believe that the classes are easy, yet challenging enough to help us learn more about our major and what we signed up to learn. The professors are great, registration runs smoothly, the workload is manageable, and we have a very helpful Learning Enrichment Center as well as two or three libraries.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: I think that APU offers a very diverse campus for a Christian university. We have both liberals and conservatives; many international students attend APU; many gay people attend APU; lastly, people are accepting of others' beliefs and lifestyles. Although we may not support our friends' choices to go out and party, we do not try and stop them.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I am a freshmen, and I live in the dorms. I have never lived off campus.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: As I previously mentioned, students are required to sign agreement to not drink alcohol or take drugs. However, many students do these things anyways. People who want to party know where the parties are, and people who don't party are not left out, because many people do both. In addition, people who party can still be friends with people who don't and vice-versa.

College Sophomore

Majors: I am not far enough along in my academic progress to assess this topic.

College Sophomore

Majors: Like the above, I am not far enough along in my academic progress to assess this.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: The campus is strict about drugs and alcohol, but they are allowed to act that way given that you have to sign an agreement saying that you will not do these things if you go to the university. Visitation hours for freshmen end at 10pm on weeknights and 12am on the weekends, and they get more lenient each year. I do not really have a problem with the campus strictness.

Local Area: The city of Azusa has a higher crime rate than most cities that students who attend the school have come from, so naturally lots of students feel uncomfortable off campus. However, I do not think that there is that much crime, and I think most students exaggerate the crime off campus.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a ton of different places to go; most are fast food but they all taste good and there is enough variety to keep it interesting.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: It is a simple process; all you have to do is meet certain requirements and send in some recommendation letters in order to be accepted. It is not selective; the school just requires a certain GPA.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: The teachers are dedicated and committed to make a change in students' lives. They want their students to do their best while they simultaneously grade fairly. They are all highly educated and they work in the fields that they teach in.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Umm well we have a free trolley service that will take you from East to West which is really nice. But usually they get pretty crowded and sometimes it's just better to walk. But that's up to you. But APU does not really provide services for you to get home...at least not that I know of.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I love psychology so obviously I love being a pysch major. I'm part of psych club, which is great and we are actually the largest major on campus. Classes so far have not been too horribly hard so that's good. I enjoy learning from these professors.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Applying for financial aid is a hassle, in my opinion. But I need absolutely all the help I can get to pay for APU so I will take the hassle and deal with it if it helps me pay for APU (which it has so far).

3 College Freshman

Diversity: It's not suuuuper diverse at APU, but we do have our fair share of international students (quite a bit actually) and other ethnically diverse students. However, the majority of the students are rich, white and blonde. Not going to lie haha. I came from a high school of mainly Mexicans/Hispanics so this was a bit of a shock at first, but you get used to it.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I really enjoy living on campus for the convenience. I can leave all my books in my dorm and take only what I need to class which isn't that far if it's on East where I live. And if it's on West then I just ride my bike (or take the trolley, but I'd rather bike) and then I can come back and nap or do hw or do whatever I need to do because I live on campus. It's great.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Umm I'm not really too sure about this question, so I'll keep it moderate. The off campus housing is ok.

4 College Freshman

Technology: We have several computer labs which is really nice. The libraries will print things for you, but they are pricy. The place where I work at, however, will print your documents for a much lower and student discounted price which many students love. The network can be kind of slow at times, but that's understandable. And the people at IMT are great. I go there all the time for my computer issues.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I put "it's great" because they are pretty strict about that stuff here. I didn't want to put it's the best, however, because I think that to some extent the students should be able to make their own decisions. And they can, but the consequences of choosing alcohol/drugs even once and getting caught are highly detrimental to your academic success. I'm most sure that you'd get expelled from APU.

5 College Freshman

Weather: We live in SoCal. That should tell you enough right there haha. We have great weather here.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: People get really spirited about games here at APU. We don't get spirited for every single game, but we do for the major ones.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Umm APU can seem pretty strict to some people especially if they came from a very lenient high school or former college. APU has an absolute zero tolerance for underaged drinking, drinking on campus (whether you're of age or not), drug use, fighting, premarital sex, and plargarism. Things like that are not taken lightly here. But if you follow the rules, you'll be fine. The visitation hours for housing arrangements can be kind of irksome at times, but they have them their for the safety and consideration of everyone on the hall/living area. And I guess the hours are pretty good, they aren't crazy and say lights out at 9pm or anything. In fact, there is no lights out curfew. Just visitation hours for the opposite sex.
