Campus Food

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food from the cafateria is good quality, although over priced due to the size of the school. Every student is required to be on the meal plan and the only other place to eat is the cafe which you reeive $50 per semester to spend there

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There have been several days where I put the food in my mouth so that I won't be hungry and that is all. I don't even know what I'm eating sometimes.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Cafe has way better food then the actually cafeteria

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There is the Cafeteria and the Cafe. I prefer eating in the Cafe as it is less noisy and they play upbeat music in there most of the time. I hear the Cafeteria likes to to serve mystery foods alot.

1 College Freshman

Campus Food: Lucky day if your food is fully cooked

The two campus dining options are the Student Union cafeteria and the Gyrene Café. The food in the cafeteria is fair with a decent variety of options. In the morning, there is bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and hot items like eggs, sausage, and bacon. For lunch, there is a sandwich bar with different types of breads, meats, and toppings that students can use to make themselves sandwiches. There are also hot foods, including pizza, meat, vegetables, pasta, and side dishes; a grill that typically serves burgers, fried chicken, fries, and other grilled foods; and a salad bar, which offers all sorts of possibilities for salads. At dinner, the same kinds of foods are offered but there are usually more choices, such as more kinds of meat. Dessert is served at both lunch and dinner, and milk, coffee, juice, soda, tea, water, and vanilla and chocolate ice cream are offered all day.

The Gyrene Café specializes in sandwiches, burgers, and express lunches, and it serves a number of desserts, drinks, and snacks. The café essentially serves the fast food of Ave Maria. Most students are on the meal plan, which includes the food in the cafeteria, but for students not on t he meal plan, the cafeteria may be a little expensive, with each meal averaging $7. It is buffet-style though, so the value matches the price. The food at the café is much cheaper—the meals don’t usually exceed $5. All in all, the food is pretty decent. It may not be a home-cooked meal, but it isn’t too bad.
