Party Scene

{{ error }}
5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Depends what you are looking for- if you want parties its the best, if you don't want a party then its the worst. Parties every night here, drug use and alcohol constantly.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Great parties held pretty frequently- especially first semester of school. It dies down second semester and becomes closed to members of sororities and fraternities.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Most nights there is something going on. Whether it is a casual get together or a full on party. Wednesday through Saturday nights are the big nights I guess but like I said there is always something going on some where around campus. I believe the party scene helps since the curriculum is so demanding at times it is nice to blow of some steam.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: The best parties take place at the cottages. However, most people like to go to Dallas for the weekend for some real fun. But if you're looking for some drinking, beer pong, and seeing the same people you do at every other party, the cottages are the way to go.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: There are a lot of parties, and a fair amount of them are low key. I think that parties have a positive impact on the whole, but there are definitely times where people have negative experiences

AC students know how to balance play with work. Most work hard and play hard, often sacrificing sleep so they can do both. Most of the nightlife at AC revolves around house parties, and there is usually a party going on Wednesday through Saturday. Most students work hard and take Sunday through Tuesday off from partying, but if you want to go out, you can probably find a place to do it any day of the week.

Most Greek groups have a specific night every week when they party, and the fraternities and sororities throw most of the big, themed parties, with anyone welcome once the party opens around 10. Beer pong, flip cup, and dancing are a must at these. Don't forget to cover your ears at midnight when the Greek group hosting the party starts to sing their song at the top of their voice and shake the floor with their jumping—it is entertaining to watch though.

If there are no parties happening or you just want a change of pace, you can always head over and hang with the crowd at one of the local bars. For students who are 21, there is not much of a club or bar scene in Sherman, but there's always a group willing to go to happy hour at Applebee's or Cellarman's, which is the rustic local pub a mile off campus. If you're really craving a crazy club and bar scene, Dallas and its big city life are only an hour away.

Organization Parties
Most parties are thrown by Greek groups at houses in the area around campus and feature kegs and the group's respective punch. They are usually open to anyone who hears about them. Occasionally, the Greek host will throw out some extra cash for a venue, but alcohol is harder to come by unless you're 21. There are a few on-campus parties, as well, thrown by the Campus Activities Board. These are non-alcoholic but usually have a live DJ, free food, and a lot fun. The most popular on-campus party is Monte Carlo Night. It's held at the opening of the school year and features heavy appetizers, a full swing band, dance floor, and poker tables where you can gamble for prizes.
