Advice on Finding a Job/Internship
The majority of students find Career Services beyond helpful in finding a job or internship. The center offer workshops that are open to all students, starting freshman year, on topics such as résumé building, graduate school research and applications, and finding a job in the present market. With the launch of Roo Connect, students can search for jobs and internships online, and possible employers can find students. The LEADs database can connect students to alumni in the workplace who will give advice and maybe even help with a job. As for the staff, they are friendly and willing to help you rework your résumé in one-on-one sessions and give mock interviews. They also encourage students to find internships while still in school. There are daily e-mails about possible opportunities in Texas and out of state. The staff wants you to succeed with the degree you've worked so hard to obtain—you just have to take advantage of all the opportunities.
