Good luck getting on a bus to anywhere
There are a lot of cool local shops, especially coffeeshops--Cool Beanz, Rozz Tox, Dead Poet's Espresso. There are museums and other opportunities for art, like at the District Theatre. They're all very friendly towards students.
I personally don't get off campus much. There is a lot to do on campus and it isn't really necessary for me to explore the town throughout the term.
Student body is full of stuck up assholes in a city with a small-town-mentality. Annoys me to no end. Think only drinking and partying on campus is what they can do on the weekends.
Check out Rozz-Tox, for example. It's a cool scene, an acoustic bar feel, live performances, cozy. Can always take the Lime 53 (free) downtown. Can also take to the shopping outlets a few miles off-campus: Target, Kohls, Kmart, etc.
Haven't been around locals much at all, but there's no negative exchange between us.
Rock Island is supposed to be the worser off of the 4 cities, as according to one of my native friends. Just be smart. Good parts and bad parts, like all cities. Around the college you're more than okay.
The Figge is a museum I'm still in need of checking out. Otherwise I wouldn't say there are many cultural places to go to like museums or art venues.
Everyone is very helpful and supportive, and many professors went here to get their undergraduate degrees.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
