Local Area: Good luck getting on a bus to anywhere

Local Area: There are a lot of cool local shops, especially coffeeshops--Cool Beanz, Rozz Tox, Dead Poet's Espresso. There are museums and other opportunities for art, like at the District Theatre. They're all very friendly towards students.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Student body is full of stuck up assholes in a city with a small-town-mentality. Annoys me to no end. Think only drinking and partying on campus is what they can do on the weekends.

Check out Rozz-Tox, for example. It's a cool scene, an acoustic bar feel, live performances, cozy. Can always take the Lime 53 (free) downtown. Can also take to the shopping outlets a few miles off-campus: Target, Kohls, Kmart, etc.

Haven't been around locals much at all, but there's no negative exchange between us.

Rock Island is supposed to be the worser off of the 4 cities, as according to one of my native friends. Just be smart. Good parts and bad parts, like all cities. Around the college you're more than okay.

The Figge is a museum I'm still in need of checking out. Otherwise I wouldn't say there are many cultural places to go to like museums or art venues.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Everyone is very helpful and supportive, and many professors went here to get their undergraduate degrees.

3 College Junior

Local Area: Most people would say it's a rough area, but it isn't that bad. There's little public transportation and the shopping is only okay
