Campus Quality: The library is very comfortable, with many computers for students to use and helpful staffs.

Scholarships: Tranfer Student Aid – I transferred to Augsburg from the University of MN after my Freshman year. I received a decent Transfer Regents Scholarship, I received this each year in the same amount. My first year, I was not eligible for a performance "named" scholarship withing the Music Department, as I had missed the deadlines for that year. The following two years, I received small (under $1000) "named" scholarships through the Music Department. Pay attention to the dates for scholarship applications if you are planning to transfer. In general, if you have a high GPA (3.75 and above), you will get a decent scholarship from Augsburg but only a handful get excellent scholarships, and only a couple are granted the Presidential Scholarship (full ride Academic Scholarship) and Hognander Scholarship (full ride Music Scholarship - 2 students each year).

Diversity: Diversity is valued at Augsburg. Part of the benefit of attending a school in downtown Minneapolis is being surrounded by people from different cultures and backgrounds. Augsburg is known for it's community involvement, encouraging it's students to be active in the Augsburg neighborhood off-campus. On-campus, Augsburg has the StepUp Program designed for college students recovering from substance abuse and difficult living situations. Augsburg is a great school to attend if you are looking for a welcoming, diverse community in an urban environment that feels like home.

Technology: In the student center there is a computer hub with about 10 computers available and outlets in the lounge area for laptop use. Most of the time, this area is fairly quiet, and one can grab a computer or outlet easily. During the busiest times, you may need to wait 5-10 minutes for the computers. There are also several classrooms with 25 or so computers that are free for use when classes aren't in session. Printing is available at almost all computer areas, and is included in the cost of tuition and fees.

Drug Safety: The drug scene is not very apparent at augsburg. I know that it is present to some extent, but you would not come across it unless you were affiliated with those people using it. Like it is at many schools.

Off-Campus Housing: Augsburg does not offer off-campus housing for its' students. However, there is a lot of cheap off-campus housing available to students if they only look for it.

Scholarships: Fin. Aid – The entire financial aid process at Augsburg was a mostly easy process. The advisor's were all very accomodating with each student's individual arrangements. They helped as much as possible to help the students work through any and all financial needs and question. Excellent department!

Diversity: Augsburg prides itself on its diversity. The school is incredibly accepting and welcoming to any and all minorities and tries to involve everyone and make everyone feel at home with the campus and campus life. The acceptance ranges from special groups to certain scholarships available for race, religion, sexual orientation etc.. Overall, I would argue that this is one of Augsburg's strongest attributes.

Weather: It's Minnesota. Cold in the winter, and hot in the summer.

Party Scene: Across the Street from the University of Minnesota – If you want to party, cross the street. If not, stay on campus.

It's that easy. Augsburg does have sober dorms for those that want nothing to do with a drunk neighbor coming home at 2:30 am.

Technology: There are many computer labs in almost all teaching halls. There are plenty in the library, and there are printers everywhere. I have never had a problem finding a place to log onto my network account and print something in my files.

The network can bog down if you are in a class using an on-network file, for example I am taking a class on MS Excel. We occasionally have to download a file at the same time.

Other than an instance like that, no worries!

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Hard to Get Info – I know, from other students, that there is money out there that the school gives away but the school itself doesn't advertise it. It is one of those deals where we have to actively be searching for assistance.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Hop on-Board – Being a city school we have excellent transportation access. The Minneapolis LightRail system is only a few blocks away and can easily transport you to downtown or the Mall of America.

1 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drinking and Smoking – Personally, for myself, I see a large amount of students drinking and a fair amount of students smoking weed. Since we are a city school both alcohol and marijuana are easily available and it isn't uncommon to know someone you participates in either activity.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Diverse and Good – Many different majors which are all taught by excellent professors.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Drink and Party – Friday and Saturday nights are crazy nights here at Augsburg (at least for the Freshman class). Lots of drinking and partying, and smoking is big too on campus.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: New and Nice – The buildings on campus are very nice and many of them are new. During the winter our artificial turf stadium is covered by a dome which helps bring in extra money to the school. The work out gyms are also top notch.

Overall Experience: Found the Love of My Life – I have loved attending Augsburg. I've made a few close friends, joined a club sport (Ultimate Frisbee), got welcomed but the LGBTQIA community (I am bisexual) and have had a lot of fun. But most of all I found the love of my life and my future wife. We spend lots of time together and I couldn't be happier.

College Freshman

Greek Life: No Greek – There is no greek life, but there is the option of joining one at the U of M if they allow non-students.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Not to Shabby – The athletics at Augsburg College are where you would expect a small Division III campus. Mediocre. With one of the best wrestling programs in D3 in the country (11-Time National Champs) a Men's soccer team that always is competitive and a football team that was off to a roaring start, things aren't bleak in this department.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There isn't a lot of off campus housing in the area and most students choose to live on campus all four years. There are, however, relatively decent priced studio apartments if you can find a roommate.

4 College Freshman

Academics: All in All, Pretty Great – Augsburg has a nice range of majors and minors and many great professors who are willing to work one on one with students to help them succeed. There are a few teachers who make the experience a bit strained, but there will be on any campus.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: Augsburg College is an extremely liberal and progressive campus. Known for its acceptance of the LGBTIA community as well as the immigrants that live near Augsburg, the school is a very welcoming and diverse place.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Not a Party School, but Not My Scene – In my experience, there is quite a bit of drinking and smoking (Cigarettes and Pot). Every weekend someone on every floor stumbles back drunk or high.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Very Safe – Campus security is very good. I have always felt safe at Augsburg. The Department of Public Safety will give you rides to and from the light rail station or Smiley's Clinic for free so you don't have to walk in the city at night. All of the dorm buildings are only accessible by a fob. Walking around just outside of campus, however, can feel a bit unsafe. I have not had any bad experiences, but we are told to only walk at night in big groups.
