Off-Campus Dining: Mellow Mushroom is the best pizza in town! There is also a Pita Pit, Jimmy Johns, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Korean BBQ, Five Guys, Gigi's Cupcakes and of course Toomer's Corner very close to campus. Also some good options in Tiger Town if you don't mind the drive.

Guys & Girls: Friendly Southern guys and girls. The girls are really pretty. It takes a while to get used to the accent and the choice of clothing.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: On campus the alcohol is not big. Drinking is generally done off campus in fraternities or housing.

Athletics: SEC Football is huge. School has new head coach so excited to see how the team plays in 2013.

Off-Campus Dining: The Auburn/Opelika area has plenty of delicious restaurants!

Greek Life: Joining a sorority or a fraternity is good because it's an automatic friend base. It's also fine if you go the non-Greek route because it doesn't hurt your social life. Only 1/3 of Auburn's campus is Greek. Fraternities have houses and sororities have chapter rooms and sorority halls in the Village.

Health & Safety: Police patrol the campus day and night. Late-night transit is offered on and off campus. And there are emergency poles placed around campus that students can press if they feel they are in danger and the police will respond.

Majors: I plan on getting an internship. I am currently waiting to hear back from Southwest Airlines about their internships. I am a little nervous. But the Office of Professional and Career Development is there to answer any questions students may have and are glad to help.

Party Scene: Plenty to do later on in the week. Lots of different bars available and there are plenty of off campus parties going on as well. I always have a party to go to or something to do during the weekends and I'm under 21.

Technology: Computers that are un-occupied are pretty tricky to find. It makes it challenging to find an opportunity. But once you find an open computer, they are pretty quick and have the software you need.

4 College Junior

Majors: I really like my program so far. I'm still taking some gen eds but I really like the faculty and the program. Even though the classes can be large, professors try to make themselves as available as possible and that really helps out. They all want you to do well as a student.

Parking: Permits are usually never cheap and having to find a parking space amongst traffic can be awful. The best part about Auburn is that most off-campus students just take the Transit. It picks me up right outside of my neighbor and it only takes about fifteen minutes to get the campus. It's included in tuition so it makes sense to take advantage of it.

Majors: I am a pre-Nursing major at the moment which means that I am not presently enrolled in the nursing school. I have heard that it is very competitive and grades are one of the biggest priorities. They anticipate 3.7 GPAs as the average for first-time applicants and a level of commitment in terms of volunteer work. Just work hard in classes and keep a high GPA.

Campus Food: Auburn has a large variety of different places to eat but college dining will always get boring after a while. They do a great job of making it simple in that off-campus student pay a certain amount and on-campus students x amount. There is Chick-fil-A and that never seems to get old, personally.

Athletics: Auburn University is known for their loyal school spirit and intense pride in their football team. They play hard, study hard, and don't pretend to be better than others. They are also very bonded as fans. Auburn also offers a diversity of athletics and are currently building a brand new recreation center.

Health & Safety: I've never felt completely unsafe on campus, but I would not run around alone at night. There are security guards around campus, sometimes. I see them from time to time. Also there are the help towers on campus where you can supposedly see three more when standing next to one, but I don't believe that to be extremely true.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is a large variety of students from all over! Not only are there students from all over the U.S. but from the world. They are also numerous clubs an organizations on campus to cater to any students needs or personal beliefs.

Campus Quality: We are truly a college town. With that said, we do not have shopping malls, the attractions of a city, however, the atmosphere makes up for that. We are All In, and we are apart of the Auburn Family. This bond keeps all of us together and is truly inspiring to be a part of something so big. Our athletics are great, and athletic events are free to students with the exception of football tickets. The school is constantly renovating and building new buildings, so the old ones will eventually be gone. Our academics are not to be taken lightly, they are difficult, but will definitely pay off in the long run. Our school provides unique opportunities like study abroad, which has recently become a large program. Additionally, we have a large variety of extra curricular activities and clubs to be a part of.

Academics: The professors at our school are very good as you get into higher level courses. Many of the lower level courses are taught by GTA's. Labs associated with courses will be taught by TA's. Sometimes its difficult learning with TA's because they come from a wide variety of countries. Understanding their speaking can be challenging, but this doesn't detract from their knowledge of the subject. Study options are great, our library provides a variety of free studying sessions. In addition, your department might have their own tutoring as well.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. Campus security is always around and in sight. We have a security system that has notifies campus security if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. It uses blue lights that light up and you can talk into the speaker. If you are unable to talk you can run and continue to push the buttons on the poles and the police/campus security can follow you. We also have a great campus security shuttle. You don't need to walk around at night and its free. They will take pick you up and drop you off anywhere you want on campus and all you have to do is call.

Parking: Our parking situation is not very good. The prices for permits just went up this past year. There are limited spaces to park since our campus is so small. However, if you live off campus, there is a very efficient transit system that buses the majority of students onto campus throughout the week. They also run at nights on the weekends from downtown. If you live on campus, you can get away with not having a vehicle if you make friends to take you grocery shopping, etc.

Greek Life: Greek life is very present at Auburn University. It seems as if the majority of students are affiliated with a fraternity or sorority. Every week there seems to be a greek event, fundraiser, party, or a live band to support the fraternity/sorority. Non-greek students are not looked down upon and nor are they not invited to the events held by a fraternity or sorority.

Campus Food: Instead of conventional dining halls, Auburn brings in many restaurant chains and food trucks to serve students. There's tons of places to choose from, and they're always bringing in new options so that students don't get bored of the same old places.

1 College Freshman

Parking: Parking on campus is never easy to find. The way the permits are set up between the Quad and Hill make it difficult to find an available spot. The Hill has a vast number of spots available extremely close to their dorms. They also have a level to themselves in Stadium Deck parking, which greatly limits the number of spaces available for Quad residents. However, the Quad only has one floor of spaces within a comfortable distance. After it is filled, we have to trek all the way across campus to parking that is much more convenient for the Hill residents.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are several excellent restaurants that are available for students to enjoy off-campus. Many of these places offer student discounts and make a point to hand coupons out to students on campus. There are also a great deal of restaurants Downtown that are within walking distance from campus housing.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Overall, students are very happy to be in Auburn. They love the people around them and the experiences that they get to have.

College is what you make of it. If you sit at home and don't do anything, then you won't enjoy yourself no matter where you go. With all the options you have offered to you at Auburn, you have to try to not have a good time. And with a student body that is so happy to be here, it's also hard not to get swept up in the excitement. As always, it's a good idea to visit a college or university before making a final decision. Make sure you're as happy and comfortable as you can possibly be.
