Academic Flexibility: Since I have been able to attend school online, the flexibility has worked well with my work and family schedule.

Online Courses: I appreciate online classes because they allow me to work at my own pace and still maintain a full time job. At this point in my life, I couldn't afford to attend school in-person full time, so online courses were a good option for me. The only thing that I miss is having spirited debates with colleagues who care about the same things I do.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I wish that they provided more access to scholarships and encouraged students to apply for them instead of just pushing financial aid.

Overall Experience: Overall, I am happy that I am nearing degree completion and that I will be able to move forward in my career. There were some classes where I learned a lot and some classes where I learned absolutely nothing. If I were to do it over again, I would have found a school that was less expensive. I feel as thought I paid for an excellent education and only got an average one. I am now leaving school over $50,000 in debt. As a result of this massive debt, I am likely not to pursue my Masters degree as I had originally planned.

Student Body: I don't feel that the caliber of student at this university is very high. I feel that there should be a larger separation between advanced and beginner students. For example, I could have very easily tested out of the courses that required me to learn how to use Microsoft Word or operate an internet browser. These classes are designed for students who have been out of school fro 10+ years and don't know how to operate computers. I would have rather spent my money on classes that taught me something valuable.

2 College Senior

Career Services: I am not aware of any career services programs that could help me get a job in my intended field.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: Resources on campus are limited since I am an online student. We do have a library that provides a wealth of information which can be used to write research papers. Aside from that, I do miss the interactive resources that can be found on a standard college campus.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: My school does not have a computer network that is available to me since I attend online. However, the student portal operates efficiently and effectively with inoperable dates and times.

4 College Freshman

Student Body: For an online student, I never expected that I would have any communication with other students...it's not that way here...you interact and socialize with others in the program or classes via email and social networks, amazing!

4 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Classes start weekly all year long, so it's very convenient to start at any time. All of my credits transferred even though it's a different field

3 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: Well, it is after all, a private university. The cost of tuition is higher than state colleges, but it is at par with others of its kind

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Considering that I am a full-online student, I'd say the facilities are perfect

5 College Freshman

Academic Experience: Very appropriate material and course work. Most books are in ebook format or other digital format.

5 College Freshman

Academic Experience: It is all terrific, from application to admissions, to financial aid and academics...no complaints

5 College Freshman

Online Courses: The classes actually are ongoing and start weekly. You progress quickly since it's one course at a time, but it is only 5 weeks long.

Campus Resources: There are so many resources available that it could be intimidating to navigate...if they didn't have advisors walking you through all the ones that apply to you and answering any and all questions along the way.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: I'm an online student, and an older adult returning to school. They have an amazing online program, technical help 24/7, free tools, and much more...I love it!

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's a reputable school and I was surprised to find out that even though it is a private university, it would cost me less than public colleges in the long run and take less time to complete my degree program.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: I received the financial aid I applied for. My only issue is that I repeatedly asked for information and help wit applying for scholarships and even though I was told that I would receive information on scholarships. I never did. That is a major issue for me, it seems that did not have MY best interest at heart.

4 College Sophomore

Career Services: I haven't been able to dig deep into all that Ashford has to offer in the way of career services but looking from the outside in it looks as if they have some pretty good programs in place

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I am just now beginning my second year at Ashford, so I have not had a chance to really get in to any major specific courses. So it would be hard to really elaborate on that at this time.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I responded that to this category with it's okay because I have had some really great experiences with my academic ad visors and some of my professors. But I have also had some really negative experiences with one of my professors.

5 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Since my entire education is online this is a very important category. And I am pleased with the style of my online courses

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
