Online Courses: I really enjoy the convenience of the online courses. The workload is very manageable with my heavy schedule. I am a full time mom, who works a full time job, and carries my school load. My kids are in sports, which adds to my already busy day! Taking online courses allows me to tap into my class when it is convenient for me, allowing me to have a better mindset while studying.

Student Body: Considering I am online learning only, I can only respond to the interaction I have had with students via discussion posts or emails over the last year. Reading some of the discussion posts, I feel that most of the students are well educated. There is also a lot of diversity in the classroom ,and everyone has a different aspect of knowledge to provide. I enjoy reading their posts, and hearing what they have to add to my discussions.

I also appreciate that Ashford took the necessary steps to reprimand a student who plagiarized one of my discussion posts and claimed for his own. Although I do still see that student included in classes, however I haven't had any more difficulties with that

Career Services: This actually doesn't apply to me yet

Academic Experience: The instructors have been fine, with the exception of the Government instructor. Her expectations for the freshman class were unreasonable.

My other instructors have been great.

Academic Experience: Most of the classes are just fine, but some of them just don't seem pertinent to my degree. The government class that I took was very confusing and the instructor was unhelpful. Her expectations for the freshman class were very high, and the assignments were unreasonable. She was very difficult to understand in her explanations of the assignment requirements. I reached out several times to her, and the turn time for a response was unacceptable.

I had several email dialogues with fellow students in the class who felt the same way. She failed some of us, even though I met every expectation of the class. My answers were not good enough to her standards, but fell completely inline with the expectations of the assignments to my understanding.

Campus Resources: I am completely online schooling, however everytime I have had to reach out to the staff at Ashford, they have been more than helpful.

Academic Experience: Ashford was 1 out of only a few schools that offer classes toward the degree that I wish to obtain on line. The curriculum offered touches my field of study in a very general sense. I will need to further my specialized education and obtain naturopathic licensing at a different institution in a different state unless by that time, the state I reside offers licensing. Unfortunately, there are no internships available too. The curriculum I am attending at Ashford will however, get me prepared for the specialized institution that I wish to apply to and hopefully attend, graduate and obtain my naturopathic licensing.

Academic Experience: I like the fact that the university offers one class at a time. Since these classes are accelerated courses, I feel it is important to focus on one subject at a time. I feel that trying to cram in more classes in an accelerated semester would defeat the purpose of learning and learning would be too general and students would have a tendency to skip in order to keep up. The pace is already fast passed and it is important to be able to absorb as much information and learning as possible each course. Having one class is a way to keep up and be successful at learning in a fast paced environment.

Overall Experience: The degree plan I am taking at Ashford will prepare and enable to get into the university of my choice to further my education in a specialized field and the ability to obtain licensing to become a doctor of naturopathy. Ashford does not offer internships in this field unfortunately. In order to enter the university for naturopathy, I will need experience and or training in fields that are similar or compliment a naturopath practice. Students of this particular school are not able to enter without prior experience and or some prior training in the field of alternative healing.

Online Courses: I have experienced both campus classes and on line classes. I like the flexibility of on line school. I believe the workload for both are relatively the same. I do miss the interaction of campus classes. I like to be there with the professor and be able to interject right then and there as well as experience the other student's ideas. I feel with on line learning, we miss a lot of different perspectives that are also very important in learning. Sometimes this is lost in the discussions required for the on line class. People get to proof read before they speak on line and I kind of miss the impromptu idea storming a live campus class can ignite.

Student Body: The students at Ashford University encompass a wide range of diversity in areas such as education, age, geographic areas, cultures and professions and goals. There are brand new students right out of high school on up to people in their 50's. In my observation, many students who attend on line classes have families, other employment and are looking to either change their profession or get a degree in the one they are already in.

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
