Academic Experience: I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Ashford University as an online student in Child Development. In spite of considering myself as a "fairly intelligent" 47 year old woman, I was still concerned that I would not be able to keep up with the coursework. While my GPA was high (3.84) I worked hard to get that grade and it was a perfect balance- hard enough to be a true challenge but only sifting through real and pertinent applicable information. All of the coursework was relevant and transferrable into the "real world." The online test exams offered such a ridiculously long time window that they were almost a joke, but that said, the open book tests alleviated a lot of stress that I did not have to deal with because I hate tests. (I tend to stress out so much that I make dumb oversights.) The online, non-proctored tests were still rigorous enough to have to think through the questions and the final exams (papers) were extensive enough that understanding the material was imperative. Finally the support and discussion boards made the online experience very meaningful. Definitely recommend the school with one obstacle being the difficulty in choosing which degree major to study as there are so many interesting programs. Fortunately, I walk around thinking how much I love my educational experience at Ashford. (Any naysayers are babies who would complain anywhere.)

Student Body: Ashford has a very diverse online student body. We have military, veterans, working mothers, single fathers, and even grandparents. It's nice to be able to interact in an online classroom with such a diverse population!

Tuition & Financial Aid: The classes are very expensive and only 5 weeks long. I have had numerous issues with the financial aid department this year. My financial adviser has changed 3 times since I started at Ashford. If you plan to attend Ashford, make sure that you stay on top of your financial aid. They have a tendency to lose paperwork including the FAFSA. I filed mine in January and they claimed not to have received it until MAY. The reason this is a D+ instead of an F is because they are very prompt in sending my financial aid once all the problems are fixed.

Student Body: The students in my courses have been from all states in the US and from different backgrounds. Most students is their first time going back to school since high school.

Academic Flexibility: A reason I decided to enroll in school was to continue my education after being out of school since 2004 and now that I have returned to school, I have not been able to get the help I need to complete my courses. As a non-traditional student, I need all the help I can get.

Academic Flexibility: Completely online degrees available. These are 5 week block classes so you can complete your discussions and assignments on your time, even if it is the middle of the night. The teachers are exceptional and respond within 24 to all inquires, usually less time than that. Curriculum is preset at registration depending on your degree. You just go from one class to the next, no registering for classes or worring if there will be room in the class. Wonderful experience.

Career Services: There is not career services for me since this is an oniline class

Student Body: The students that attend Ashford are from all walks of life. Most are people with full time jobs as well as family committments. Everyone has been very accepting of the others in the classes that I have taken and we all are working together to achieve a goal

Online Courses: Classes are 5 weeks long and are back to back. The instructors that I have had thus far have been very instrumental in the learning process. All of them have been helpful if I have had a question and answered my emails in a very timely manner.
Each class consists of two discussions per week that are based on the assigned reading material for that week. Most classes have written assignments and quizzes. You interact with your fellow students in the discussion posts and the online library is easy to navigate. I would recommend this type of learning to anyone interested in getting their degree.

Academic Experience: Although I am only in my second class, the programs appear to be awesome right along with the teachers, registration process and all. I do have to say that my current class has information in it that I don't think has anything to do with the title - Computer Literacy, but will do the best I can do and maybe, just maybe eventually will see what the connection is.

Career Services: As it is my choice to go to school online, I will not have the opportunity to go to my campus after I graduate. I am very grateful for this chance to achieve my goals and am positive it will help me with attaining higher positions in my employment.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I think that paying this much for a class that is 5 weeks long is outrageous and I do not get the help when I need it and that should be part of the high tuition.

2 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I get worn out after taking classes back to back at all times. Some teachers are not helpful at all and will not except anything late. There are 4 essays due for each class. Final essay being 10 pages.

Academic Experience: I'm an studing to get my associates in business. It is everything I have expected and more. I would refer Ashford University to anyone. It meets all the requirements and thier is all kinds of resources to turn to. The instructors are all willing to help to make things easier and understandable for the students. The material is very understandable and user friendly.

Academic Experience: I love everything about the university. The instructors are always helpful and willing to take the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and understand the classwork. The classmates are all very friendly. I don't feel emabarresed about asking a question or lost in class. There is not one thing that I would change about Ashford University. The one thing I do regret doing; is not finding and taking classes sooner. Having a family and a husband in the military is hectic so going to classes at night seemed impossible. The advisors help give me hope and comfort to start my career and I'm glad I did. I will help others I know and lead them in the right direction towards college. It's never too late and it's not impossible. Thank you Ashford University!

Academic Flexibility: the reason i chose this school was because you take a step at a time

Tuition & Financial Aid: Everyone has been very polite and helpful when I needed questions answered. The tuition is a bit confusing but in tthe end my education will be worth it.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: I like the resource center online. I am able to find all the reputable articles I require and more with the click of a button. The site also cites it for me.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Whether I am at home station abroad or in a deployed location, I can still complete my assignments. If I am unable to do an assignment on time, the instructors are reasonable and understanding to give me an extension.

Ashford University provides a great learning experience in a very unique environment. If you ask online Ashford students if they're happy with their choice to attend school there, most would probably say that they would do it all over again if they could, mainly because of its flexibility and convenience with schedules. The instructors are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner, usually within one to two days. The instructors are helpful and encourage students to constantly look for better answers. Online classes are very convenient to students with complicated schedules; students can complete assignments at their own leisure, yet within the time constraints of deadlines. Most students find no problem completing their assignments.

A drawback of being an online student is that you don't have the opportunity to really check out the organizations or physical resources Ashford offers. However, the University does have an online library that students can go into from the Student Portal. The library is easy to use, and students can usually find most of the sources they need when writing a research paper. Even though it isn't your typical college interaction, the instructors and classmates are friendly and very helpful when you have questions. Students are able to help each other in unique ways. In one case, a student didn't have her book for class yet, and another student was able to scan a copy of the assignment and e-mail an attachment to her. Classmates are also helpful in post discussions and give each other timely advice and wisdom.
