4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The education is well worth the money that I have paid.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: My experience at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College has been positive. The teachers are very flexible and helpful. The library and computer labs have numerous resources. I have greatly enjoyed my time here and look forward to one more year.

Campus Resources: For a technical community college, there is an abundance of campus resources. We have a gym in campus as well as a multi level library. There is a cafeteria on campus as well as snacks, coffee and to go items in the bookstore. All buildings except the Culinary building have vending machines. The school is currently working in the sidewalks and roads to improve them as well as constructing newer and larger parking lots. They are also building new buildings, moving classes to them and tearing down the old ones for renovation. The Culinary and Hospitality students also offer a buffet lunch and to go items once a week as well as an a la carte three course dinner in one of our two historic mansions located on campus.

Campus Resources: There is a computer lab in each building that is open to students. Printing in the labs is usually free. The library also offers tons of computers and printing at a nominal fee. The student services building also offers quite a few computers and printing at a reduced fee. Wifi is in all buildings and produces a very strong signal. The speed of the wifi is just as good, if not better than what I get at home. Many teachers allow for personal computers to be used for notes and assignments during class, as long as you let them know beforehand that you will be using a computer.

Academic Flexibility: I had approximately 65 credits I wanted to transfer in to this college. Other schools that I have attended hassle you about accepting credits. ABtech accepted all but one of my classes for credit. The student services building is one of the most efficient (especially in comparison to my previous school). There are multiple campuses and tons of online class options. Overall, this college really works with its students to be able to accommodate all needs in different areas.

Campus Resources: My school has noticed that the city bus was unable to accommodate the amount of students who utilize public transit. SGA and the president of the school came together and raised funds to provide a school run bus that will pick up the overflow of students and take them to the transfer station downtown. We also have a nationally recognized and award winning Culinary and Hospitality program for a fraction of the cost of universities and private colleges.

3 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: I find that at times they can helpful, but at the sometimes not so much. I guess it really depends on what day and who you get!

4 College Freshman

Student Body: I find the student body of sb tech to be a nice mix of people, mostly people dedicated to going to school. I feel there are a lot of adult student and returning student, so people have jobs they are working as well, so there is not much time for socialization.

3 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is reasonable, but the books and extra fees assoicated with Nursing can get really expensive.

5 College Senior

Campus Resources: My school offers many student activities such as class free activity days one each semester as well as a hot dog lunch. This makes the hard work and dedication worth it.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: I've actually switched my degrees a couple times, but I have never had to back track when I switch degrees so that is a good thing. This school is heavily based in Sciences, Math, and Liberal Arts, with a great Culinary school on the side, I know the drama program at my school seems to have fell through, so I had to change my degree once again, but overall my general ed classes have been great.

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I've always received enough financial aid to help me make it through the semester. The lines do get long waiting for financial aid, so it is best to show up when they open to avoid long lines. Sometimes there is a little finagling involved, especially with scholarships because there are so many forms and steps to take to ensure that your money is being received. The new express lines have made it easier to get short questions answered.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: This process is pretty user friendly, and somewhat easy to use.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: It is herd to get into the dental hygiene program at this school

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The professors are very professional and helpful with classes.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: It' so easy to get in quickly to see any sort of advisor you need, very fast and effective!

3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: They do have online classes available, but I do wish there were even more available. It can sometimes be difficult to schedule needed classes due to time availability if you're a non traditional student.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Easy going, and there is always someone available to help quickly if you have any questions. Some of the best teachers I've ever had were right here.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: It's easy to get in touch with Financial Aid advisors and the information is straight forward and comprehensive.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: Very friendly, Asheville is known for it's progressive, kind, and "hippie" attitudes, and that is well reflected in the students here.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I'm a non traditional student, I actually already hold a Bachelors and am returning to study Sonography. AB-Tech has been a better experience than I've had at 2 other major 4 year universities. The organization is brilliant, campus is beautiful, teachers seem to be very invested in supporting their students. Couldn't ask for more.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Need better advisors, more grants at school, need more clubs.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Diversity. Absolutely Love it. People are mostly friendly.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Needs better classrooms for all hours of the day for students. These rooms need to be equipped with good computers like Macs. App State has macs and they are much better.

1 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: Hate it. Slow process. The do not help walk you through. I pay many taxes but need help with books and tuition. I have done the loan route before and am struggling to pay those back. I am in need for a grant to help me complete my degree.
