5 College Junior

Majors: To date, I've not yet fulfilled my internship requirement. I plan on completing this this part of my commitment to this program, not only because it's required, but because I cannot become competent within this field without practical, demonstrable experience.

Majors: I'm still currently enrolled in the Media Communications Program at Asbury University. Though arduous, as can be expected, I'm very satisfied with the program, and I plan to continue within this major.

5 College Junior

Majors: I have not found it at all difficult to become part the Media Communications Program. There is no special application process involved

Within the Media Communications Program there are a variety of different emphases, with my personal choices being either Production or Film Studies. What may be unique requirement is that a Media Communications major must complete at least one assignment within each of the "core classes" with either a "B-" or higher passing grade in order to proceed with the attempt at the major. So far, I've had no difficulty passing the "hurdle" of these "gateway assignments.

Additionally, internships will be a later requirement of any Media Communications Major. While this may seem daunting at first, the faculty are all excellent people, being professionals within their respective fields, and are overwhelming ready to assist any Media Communications student through the uncertainties of this process.

Campus Quality: Facilities are top notch. There are many different academic buildings, many are new and provide great opportunities for students of all majors. The media communication building is the newest and probably most unique facility at Asbury. The fitness center is new and impressive as well.

Academics: As an education major we were given many opportunities to get into the real classroom starting 2nd semester freshman year. The real life experiences made the program a great teacher preparation degree.

Campus Food: Asbury only has one main cafeteria which has many options to chose from as well as a Grill that you can use meal credit at. It's open latter when the dining hall is closed. Hours should work for anyone.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Closest dining options are about 10 min away and are mainly chain restaurants.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Great sense of community on Asbury's campus no matter where you live.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Came to Asbury for the elementary education program which prepared me well. However, the classes were fairly easy and the program did not allow many electives to take such as getting an minor in another subject.

Administration: At Asbury University, there is no leniency whatsoever. If you partake in alcohol or drugs, you will most likely get kicked out of the school for your first offense.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I have never once felt unsafe at Asbury University. It's a very small campus in the middle of nowhere. If you're not attending Asbury, there is no reason for you to be out here, and I think that helps a lot.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: At Asbury University, alcohol consumption and drug use is extremely looked down upon. However, even with our strict rules, it is still somewhat prevalent, as it would be at any school.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: For the most part, everyone dresses rather nice. I would say most people are attractive to some degree and everyone is involved in some sort of club, sport, or event. There are so many relationships. It's ridiculous. They like to be see making out and cuddling in public. It's kind of gross.

Drug Safety: Asbury does not allow the use of drugs on or off campus. However, some people are stupid enough to still do it in their rooms. Asbury really does not enforce it's rules all that much. Mostly because it is easy for some students to hide their drugs and alcohol.

Technology: They're Okay – The main computer lab had weird hours last year, but this year they're spreading the computers throughout the library so it'll be much better this year.

1 College Senior

Party Scene: Nothing in Wilmore – Occasionally the school will do events on campus and have giant tubs of Ale8one, but if you're looking for bar/club scenes you'd need to go to Lexington away from campus for that.

5 College Senior

Drug Safety: Not Noticable at All – There are probably some students on campus who drink and hide it in their rooms (even though it's against the rules), but you don't notice it. Smoking doesn't occur on campus unless the contractors are here doing work and they're smoking sometimes. Drug usage is non-existent on campus.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Honestly I've had issues with some of the rules, and regulations here on campus, but it's a great place to grow close with other Christians and to grow closer to Christ. It does have a wonderful academic program for most of the majors and it can be wonderful for most people.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: It's Safe – I always feel safe on Campus. There's always a security guard on duty if you need him, not always visible, but always available by calling the Switchboard.

3 College Senior

Administration: There are several rules that you 'have to follow' at Asbury all of them can be found in the Community Standards Book, but they're fairly easy to break and find ways around. But it sure can sound intimidating since there are so many of them listed in the book.

3 College Senior

Local Area: Not Much to Do – In Wilmore there's not a whole lot to do, but there are a few options if you're willing to try them out. There's also many, many, options in Lexington and Nicholasville if you're willing to drive just a short bit.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: Usually mild winters, with the random occasional snow storm. Stays warm late into the fall. People hang out outside a lot, and there's plenty of "yard space" around

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: You Need a Car, or a Friends Who Are Willing to Drive You – Asbury is about 20 minutes outside of Lexington, Ky. So having a car on campus is really your only option for transportation to get to Lexington. There are a lot of options for ride sharing though, and campus has some cars available to use depending on the situation (doctor appointment, emergency, etc)

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Dorms Are Prety Good – I have no problem with the dorms at Asbury, basically because I live in the biggest room on campus. Johnson Hall is the best. There are no 'upperclassmen/lowerclassmen' dorms, it's first come first serve, except for Aldersgate which is apartment option for the upperclassmen.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Completely Safe – There is not a single complaint I have about Asbury's safety. The crime rate in Wilmore is basically non-existent. But watch out for thieves in the Luce Center, high school kids are allowed in there and have been known to steal things. Other than that, it's all good.
