4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Asbury works closely with every student to help in obtaining financial aid.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: It's pretty good. We have a wide variety of food options in the cafeteria and it changes every day. It is unlimited food, you don't need to pay by the plate. They usually have fresh fruit and meats.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: We hang out in dorms, in the student center, in the food area. We don't get into trouble, but we do have fun. We sometimes leave campus. There aren't any bars/clubs that we go to. There is a Christian organization that provides a fun dance environment for us to have fun at, but there's no alcohol.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: we have a pretty awesome fitness center with a pool and weight room. tennis courts are also available. The new (2010) Millers Comunications building is AMAZING!! It's pretty state-of-the-art, and a
big draw for media comm students. They also have a great psychology program, one of the top equine programs and a good, well known education program, with Asbury graduates in demand. Fith-year seniors are not discouraged.

Drug Safety: I know some stuff goes on, but as I'm not a part of it, you don't really see anything going on. It's a very very safe campus. You'd probably have more trouble with some one coming from outside than any of the fellow students.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's Kentucky, so the weather here can vary a lot grom day to day. It may be 32 and sleeting oneday, and 50 and sunny the next. (No exaggeration). The whole winter is usually a little like that. Summer gets super hot. Spring and fall are really nice, and fall can feel like it lasts into December sometimes, with intermittent cold snaps. At any rate, there are may months at the beginning and end of the year where students can do their studying in warm sun on the different greens Asbury has.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: Asbury is somewhat diverse, and they are working to make it more so. They have many nationaltitied and ethnicities represented, but they comprise a relatively small percentage of the student body.
As a Christian school, most students 'have come from Christian families and backgrounds. However, not everyone is a Christian. Most people are straight, or are working through not being straight. One thing I love about Asbury, though, is the acceptance that you feel on-campus. It's like everyone is a part of a great big family.

Off-Campus Housing: I do not personally live off-campus, so I can't tell you a lot of details. I do know that Wilmore, where Asbury is located, is a SMALL town. There are some housing options, but not a ton (all the Wilmore options will pretty much be within walking distance of campus). Also, Lexington and Nicholasville are two nearby towns with housing. Lexington is 15-45 minutes away, depending on traffic and your location. Nicholasville is more like 15-25. Lexington is pretty big, so there are lots of options and price ranges. Nicholasville is probably overall a bit cheaper, but perhaps not as nice. ********Asbury's dorms are not coed, and are really pretty nice.*****

Parking: Finding a place to park is never a problem. Freshmen and sophomores do have to park in a more remote lot while juniors and seniors may park directly by the dorms, but, on the weekends, anyone may park in any of the lots without consequence.

College Junior

Campus Housing: I do live in housing, either on or off campus, provided by Asbury University.

4 College Junior

Diversity: In addition to those from America, Asbury University has students and staff from all over the world. Several students and staff hail from India, with other diverse countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, South Korea, and many more, represented as represented as well.

Majors: Asbury University's Media Communications program is very intensive. It's mixture of lectures, assignments and project are designed to help the student engage all of the facets of his/her prospective career. "Stepping out your comfort zone" is a daily experience. However, the faculty, while requiring of you your best, are always ready to aid and assist you in understanding those requirements, and do all that they can to help you achieve your best.

5 College Junior

Majors: To date, I've not yet fulfilled my internship requirement. I plan on completing this this part of my commitment to this program, not only because it's required, but because I cannot become competent within this field without practical, demonstrable experience.

4 College Junior

Majors: I'm still currently enrolled in the Media Communications Program at Asbury University. Though arduous, as can be expected, I'm very satisfied with the program, and I plan to continue within this major.

5 College Junior

Majors: I have not found it at all difficult to become part the Media Communications Program. There is no special application process involved

Within the Media Communications Program there are a variety of different emphases, with my personal choices being either Production or Film Studies. What may be unique requirement is that a Media Communications major must complete at least one assignment within each of the "core classes" with either a "B-" or higher passing grade in order to proceed with the attempt at the major. So far, I've had no difficulty passing the "hurdle" of these "gateway assignments.

Additionally, internships will be a later requirement of any Media Communications Major. While this may seem daunting at first, the faculty are all excellent people, being professionals within their respective fields, and are overwhelming ready to assist any Media Communications student through the uncertainties of this process.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have never had an internship and as such I can not comment on what they are like. From what I have heard from others at my school though they are very rewarding and do not ask for more of a commitment than necessary

College Sophomore

Majors: I have not started yet because I just changed majors.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Facilities are top notch. There are many different academic buildings, many are new and provide great opportunities for students of all majors. The media communication building is the newest and probably most unique facility at Asbury. The fitness center is new and impressive as well.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: As an education major we were given many opportunities to get into the real classroom starting 2nd semester freshman year. The real life experiences made the program a great teacher preparation degree.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Asbury only has one main cafeteria which has many options to chose from as well as a Grill that you can use meal credit at. It's open latter when the dining hall is closed. Hours should work for anyone.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Closest dining options are about 10 min away and are mainly chain restaurants.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Great sense of community on Asbury's campus no matter where you live.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Came to Asbury for the elementary education program which prepared me well. However, the classes were fairly easy and the program did not allow many electives to take such as getting an minor in another subject.

1 College Senior

Administration: At Asbury University, there is no leniency whatsoever. If you partake in alcohol or drugs, you will most likely get kicked out of the school for your first offense.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I have never once felt unsafe at Asbury University. It's a very small campus in the middle of nowhere. If you're not attending Asbury, there is no reason for you to be out here, and I think that helps a lot.
