If you're not in the mood to cook or steal your roommate's food, off-campus dining around ASU is quite exceptional considering the price ranges are pretty lax on the typical college student's wallet. There are plenty of dining options outside of campus that would surely please anyone's taste buds. There are so many great restaurants along Mill Avenue, McClintock Road, University Road, College Avenue, and Rural Road that offer a variety of foods according to your interests. If the weather is perfect, which it almost always is, Tempe Marketplace also has plenty of places to choose from that will satisfy your hunger. Many of these locations are easily accessible by foot, and you can hit many of these between classes in case the Memorial Union just isn't cutting it. Many of the local hot spots include The Chuckbox's infamous burgers, Dilly's Deli, America's Taco Shop, and several more. You will just have to try all of these joints at your own time and believe you will be going back!
A lot of the locations along Mill Avenue are great eateries during the day and sweet college hangouts by night. In case your family is in town, take them to a nice restaurant that will allow you all to catch up with one another—a favorite for these occasions is Z'Tejas, a Mexican restaurant. If you're on a date, there are plenty of great options, such as Old Scottsdale, where there are several posh restaurants of all flavors. For more organic/vegan eats, there are a few locations around campus that serve vegetarian food, including Cornish Pasty Co. and Udupi Cafe. Due to a surplus of food, affordable prices, and convenience, Tempe and the local ASU area is a great area to find a bite to eat!
