Academics: Teachers are great! Blackboard is a nightmare to work with

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: It's a nice campus. Student activities are falling apart such as pool tables and ping pong tables.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: Not much to do. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. A couple of decent malls nearby.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Hardly any girls. If there are girls, they are taken or dogs. Most the guys are pilots, so ladies hit us up.

Overall Experience: Make sure to apply for housing and classes early. If you don't do it early, you will be cutting it close to the deadlines continuously trying to get ahold of people to help you understand the application process's,and finding rooms. No one responds in a timely manner, and you need to call them multiple times a day every single day until you annoy them enough to decide they should probably do your job and help you.

Teachers are fantastic! The aviation teachers are mostly all retired airline pilots, and they are all laid back. They make the classes enjoyable. Also, you get to take a ride to 25,000' in the altitude chamber and experience hypoxia, this was a lot of fun!!!!!!

Overall Experience: I love the aviation teachers! They are all laid back.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There are continuously summer jobs and internships offered wishing the aviation industry. We also have pathway programs with the regionals who will pay us as their employees while we build hours instructing.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: You are always able to find an open space to work out. There's a decent variety of equipment.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are some decent restaurants in and around San Tan mall

5 College Freshman

Administration: The aviation courses are like gentlemans courses. We never have homework, and it's uncommon for a teacher to take attendance. Lectures are straight forward and informative. Class topics are kept up to FAA standards.

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: I have applied to tons of scholarships with the help of a teacher going over my essays. I am having to seek outside sources for scholarships as asu has no option for aviation.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: There is nothing going on at poly. I am glad I am not into partying.

1 College Freshman

Campus Food: Citrus dining hall has some of the worst food ever! Lack of flavor and quality. People are continuously getting sick from this poor quality food. The only other option is a fast food grill and subway in the student union. Poly campus is basically the forgotten campus when it come to food. I have heard people aren't even able to use their M&G to order dominos like we are supposed to be able to. Tempe has tons of options for food that is actually good. Poly has crap piled on top of more crap. Thank god I have a kitchen!

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The rooms provided are pretty decent. They are left over housing units from Willy AFB, so it is expected to have some problems, but there have been mumerous problems such as sink leakages and toilets that won't always flush. The process to reserve your housing is terrible, it's nearly impossible and the website does not function properly. And when you call for help with the housing selection do not expect a response, you will need to literally call them non stop to get your questions answered or get help with the process. Not a good experience. Going to be starting my second year on campus this coming fall, and both this year and next year I almost did not get a room with how impossible it is to get through their application or get help.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I?m not in Greek life and they are all over campus, but there?s so many students around that after a while, they don?t stand out.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The campus is fairly split among sports, organizations/clubs, and academics, but the gym and the extravagant games showcase that ASU prides itself in its sports.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Pretty good variety in my opinion. I do not have a car nor do I know the area, so there are probably more options than I have discovered so far. The off-campus dining do help to provide more options, but most close rather early.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got the highest out-of-state financial help for academics, but that is not enough for my family. My parents want me to seriously consider transferring to a cheaper university.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Every dining hall has a focused food and that?s all they serve. May seem like a lot at first, but then you realize that there?s not much variety. Manzy: sandwiches, Devils Diner: chicken tenders/pizza, Devils Greens: salad, etc

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I am an out-of-state freshman student living in Palo Verde East and the social atmosphere and distance from classrooms are preferable to any engineering student. However, the elevators break often and when it rains, even though it?s rare, there are several problems. The most important problem is that the seventh floor leaks causing parts of the walls to become mushy and break. Also, the first floor hub area (an area where the tutoring center, Starbucks, and the UPS store are located) becomes flooded. Those are the best and worse of the residential housing option. Other things that should be known is that the walls are extremely thin where a conversation or business in a bathroom can be heard by neighbors. Nevertheless, this living space allows friendships to easily be formed and the closeness to my classes makes this experience great!

5 College Junior

Party Scene: Um, this is ASU we are talking about. The main campus is connected to Mill Ave. I do not party, but if I ever wanted to the opportunity to is always available.

Campus Food: There are a lot of fast food options. I don't usually eat fast food due to food allergies, but I love that there are multiple Starbucks on campus. I only wish they would replace one with a Dutch Bros. but at least there is an option for coffee. Mill also has a lot of alternative food options for anyone with an adventurous palate.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus housing close to campus is a bit overpriced but it well worth what you pay for.

Off-Campus Dining: There is a huge variety of food options around and close to campus to chose from.

3 College Freshman

Administration: I have never personally had to deal with any of the campus and their strictness because i tend to lay low and follow the rules as much as possible.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
