3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Expensive but Nice! Alot of the off campus apartments are really close to the school. Of course, this leads to HUGE price inflation!

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The Drug Scene – If you do not know anyone you mainly not getting any drugs. No one is forcing anything on you unless a drink or two . And the enforcement is kind of weak because you have to be obviously out of it to be caught

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Life on Campus – I stayed at Taylor Place and the dorm was okay. Rooms are a manageable size. The problem I had was the cleaning of the Hallways they could be dirty for a week or two which made the dorm seem bad. The atmosphere there was good most of the time it did not seem like any problems where i was at.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The facilities on campus are usually pretty good. They could get confusing because of placement but other than that the facilities are clean and the people who work there are usually helpful.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Four Campuses – I like my college experience. I do not like the fact that it is broken up into four different campuses. It's annoying and at time inconvenient to commute. I would do it again not because I completely love but because I do not like to live with regrets.

2 College Sophomore

Diversity: This school is very dominated by Caucasians due to the location and region of ASU. The school needs to work on becoming more diverse.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Feel Secure – I feel comfortable at Arizona State University. I see security around campus often. This past school year a student was murdered on campus but it did not affect me or my feelings towards feeling secure. The has been a lot of stealing from dorm rooms incidents and that made me a little worried.

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: Barrett Honors College. Downtown is right next to campus.

1 College Senior

Parking: Parking is way overpriced at ASU. Passes that aren't even that close to campus start at $650. The hourly parking rates aren't great either and again, their locations aren't convenient.

3 College Senior

Academics: The professors in the Electrical Engineering department are varied in quality. A handful are very enthusiastic and love to teach and help students. Others care more about their research than teaching. Still others have unfair grading systems. Pretty much what you would find anywhere else. Good and bad.

1 College Sophomore

Administration: No Consequences – Unless reported underage students rarely recieve consequences for breaking the law. I think they should more strictly enforce their policies and the state laws.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Arizona State University takes excellent measures to ensure the overall safety of all students. Campus security is very easily accessed if needed and they listen to complaints and act upon resolutions quickly.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Many Cheap Ways! Everything is VERY close so you can walk or ride a bike almost anywhere. there's also the light rail that can take you to a few other spots which is also very cheap and affordable. You have the option of driving, but parking is expensive. They also offer free shuttles to get around in!

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Very Good! I'm not very into sports, but we always beat our rivals UofA, and as far as i can tell we have great sports teams.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Business at Its Best! Arizona State has the W.P. Carey school, which is also one of the TOP business schools. I have not yet started (I will be starting in less then a month though) I'm very excited about it and I've heard several great things!

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Criminal Justice – The atmosphere is plesant and the staff is very helpful in administering assignments and giving advice.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Mainly Mill St – You'll find restaurants along Mill St, its the street everyone talks about. Theres also fast food and mainly pizza places around campus. A considerable place I would recomend is Jimmy John's. Its a Sandwhich shop better than subway I'd Say.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Similar Options Throughout Campus – The dinning halls around campus are similar and don't really offer healthy food. They have your usual fast food joints and make it easy to grab lunch or a snack between classes but one does get pretty tired of eating the same agenda every week. Most students live off campus they're second year and on but still have a smaller meal plan so that they don't have to pay taxes.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Very Diverse – Coming from the Midwest, I would consider ASU to be very diverse.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Are Expensive, Houses Cheap – Off campus can be hard to find a deal, sometimes. You need to look for housing early, like December through March, to secure a deal. Houses cost only $300-$500 per month if you have 3-4 roommates, while apartments close to campus can be anywhere from $500 to $1100 depending on the type.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Depends on Your Major – The academics really depend on your major. For example, Supply Chain Management (my major) is ranked 4th in the country. If you're going to ASU to do something besides engineering, business, journalism or the honors college, you should look somewhere else.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: I am not part of the Greek life, but the opportunity is there if I wanted it.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: There are a wide variety of bathrooms, and student resources. Some places are vandalized, while others are in mint condition.

4 College Junior

Academics: Very Accepting – May Lou Fulton College makes my Education major very easy to get where I need to go. The resources are available when I need them, and help is there when I ask. I am very proud of my school.

Overall Experience: Freshmen Year – Given the chance to choose a different school, I'd probably go to a community college. Freshmen year was fun, in terms of activities and free time, however, the expenses are ridiculous compared to community colleges or for upperclassmen. One thing EVERYONE tells you before you go to college is to stay away from loans. I had to drop a class late fall, and doing so meant losing scholarships. From fees for the gym and internet to books, classes and dorm fees, freshmen year ended up costing me $20,000 and I had to take a loan out just to stay in school. Looking back, I should've considered every possible option including all of it's pro's and con's.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
