Transportation: By Car, Foot, Bus Light-Rail – The transportation ant ASU is great, you can get to any campus from another one real easy. You are near the freeway and the buses are always running.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Safe and Friendly – There are 4 campus to ASU in which you can ride the light-rail to get to and all of them are safe, campus police are no to far away if they are needed and will response quickly. However, you have to remember that you are in the desert and keep water with you at all times, because you will walk to class on a 115 degree day.

Academics: the nursing program is amazing. very dedicated instructors and mind stimulating program

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drinking as an Extracirricular – Drinking is deffinately a huge part of the social scene, lots of house parties and Mill Avenue with lots of bars just a few steps away from campus. ASU is "strict" about enforcing it, so either don't bring stuff on campus, or don't get caught doing so. Drugs are whatever, they aren't prevelent, but if you wanted some, you could probably find some with about two phone calls. And although drinking is popular, I've never felt pressure to do anything I didn't want to do.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: This school has over 50,000 students, so there is a wide range of people, but I can say with so many students, whatever you're looking for, you will probably be able to find it

Weather: I've grown up in Arizona; love the continous sunshine and ability to go outdoors everyday without wondering if there will be rain, a weather storm, or snow.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: Community Atmosphere – I will be attending the downtown Phoenix campus surrounded by all the cultural centers, civic center, sports stadiums, many different types of restaurants which all will be in walking distance of my campus.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Light Rail and Buses – Since they finished construction on the light rail, getting around has gotten a lot easier. It runs straight through the main and downtown campuses. There's also a pretty thorough bus system.

2 College Junior

Drug Safety: Alcohol and drugs aren't allowed on campus. That's not to say that people don't break the rules. But if you get caught you can get into trouble. Plus, there are a lot of bars around campus if you really want to drink.

4 College Junior

Athletics: It's a Pretty Fun Experience – Fan support at Arizona State can get pretty intense. Football games are especially fun to attend. With so many students attending, there's usually a sea of kids in gold t-shirts. Since the new uniforms were unveiled this summer, everyone is getting psyched about the new black jerseys. I think Black-Out Friday will be pretty epic.

Greek Life: Greek life is exsitence at ASU but it is slowing dying, and no where near as popular as Greek life at East coast schools.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Great Gym – Huge gym with nearly all gym equitment nesscary for any work out!

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Fairly Safe – Since its a huge campus crime does go on, but nothing too concerning or out of the odinary. The school is always clean and provides many safety options. For example the school provides a safety escort (car service) for student to travel in at night. I have never felt uncomfortable personally.

Party Scene: Mill Ave. is where to go if you are 21+, if not then it sucks to be you. But there are also plenty of house parties which are generally much more awesome than the clubs and bars. But with the assortment of girls in the area there is no going wrong.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: All Kind of Lame – The majority of the dorms have issues and are pretty lame. The good thing is that they are close to most of the buildings you will need. There is no alcohol allowed on campus, so it makes living in the dorms harder. Keyless entry to the main buildings makes it a bit nicer, but I suggest renting a place in the area.

4 College Freshman

Academics: One Place Many Opportunities – The opportunities available are amazing. There are many different majors, and specialities to choose from. The faculty is usually very knowledgeable and helpful. Registration is very easy, very nice and easy to follow online instructions. Depending on your major the courses might have a bit more work than you would like, but I am sure it is less than other institutions around. It seems that there is an engineering library for science majors, and a 24 hour library that is good for studying.

Overall Experience: Would I Give It Another Go? Knowing what I do now, if I had to start all over again ASU would still be my first (and only) choice to pursue my degree. However, I may begin my studies at a community college and then transfer, due to the costs. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a student at ASU, getting to know more people than ever before, and learning some of the history and traditions of the campus(es). I am an avid Sun Devils fan for life, and will continue cheering on ASU teams long after graduation. ASU is more unique than any other school because of its location (not quite in a big part of any city, but not secluded/isolated either), its extraordinary diversity (currently leads in hispanic-latino population among others), its plethora of programs, the overall student/faculty body, its number of courses and offerings on each campus as well as the potential for more increases in all areas. Several of its programs are currently ranked in the top 50 by all major publications (i.e. U.S. News and World Report), it has developed and redeveloped and improved upon many of its facilities which hold some of the best programs - not to mention the sustainability efforts which have been undertaken in recent years, including, but not limited to: solar panels over parking lots/garages, wind powered fans (Global Institute of Sustainability facility), research in laboratories using algae, dog feces, and many other unknown and uncommon resources. ASU is great because it is the perfect place to meet people, it has the most friendly professors, and its resources are endless both inside and out. They have some amazingly planned Family Weekends and Homecoming activities among others, and there is never a dull moment. The only thing I have an issue with is the outlook on academic progress and trying to get things done too quickly at times. Otherwise, I would give it an A+ without hesitation.

Off-Campus Dining: Off Campus Food – There are plenty of off campus restaurants and fast food place with in walking distance and they work in lots of deals for college students. My favorite is Chuck Box.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Barret College – Only one dining hall has a good variety of food, which is Barret college in ASU. The rest have the same meals every week which is not worth the price of the meal plan, I'd be better off buying and cooking my own meals.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: For the time that school is in session the weather in the Phoenix area is amazing. The first part of the fall semester when it is still summer can be a little hot, but if you are willing to endure that for the 70 degree temperatures around the late fall semester into the very end of spring semester, it is worth it.

5 College Sophomore

Technology: Great Computer Access – ASU classes rely heavily on your ability to use computers, and they supply you with that ability. There are computer labs, an apple store to buy your own mac, free, very high-speed, internet access, and print stations if you need them that cost a few cents per page. You can even get your computer repaired on-campus. Computer issues aren't a problem.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Freshman Campus Life – Welcome week is excitingas there are rallys and free stuff. The first year ASU is all about getting students familiarized with the campus and getting involved in campus life by joing clubs, going to fun events on campus, etc.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Most minorities can be seen walking through campus but the most dominant ethnicity is Caucasion, very few, Mexicans or African-Americans. Although it is refreshing to see so many exchange students on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The main capmus is surrounded by off-campus housing, some have fair pricing thanks to rent control. ASU will also help you in any off-campus related matter.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Nice People – Lots of pretty ladies at ASU! There's a little bit of everyone out here, and you can easily find groups of friends that share your common interests - whatever they might be.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
