Academics: Definitely Ratemyprofessor – Definitely look up your instructors on Rate My Professor. Some instructors may receive a "bad grade" because they assign too many essays, but someone like me, I'd rather write an essay every week than have to work in a group. Do lots of research about tutoring and get to know librarians. Give yourself plenty of time when navigating through campus and try not to become tempted by vending machines... being an adult, life is still mostly standing in lines and paying for things.

Academics: If Phoenix Can Become Sustainable, Any City Can – I'm an Urban Planning major at ASU. Out of all majors offered at the university, Urban Planning is the only one that's genuinely got me trying and desiring to succeed. The workload can become intense, but there are professors and TAs are available to offer help and guidance. Urban planning and sustainability courses are interesting and very easy to apply to my daily life. There are vague concepts, but at the same time, creativity/originality can go a long way. For example, coming up with unique processes to conserve energy or reduce consumption and things like that. As far as internships and job opportunities go, the world is basically working on becoming "green" or more sustainable. A student can possibly intern or volunteer at a recycling center, shadow a city or regional planner, go into local/state or national politics or even law enforcement. Majors can choose hone into a specific area of urban planning such as transportation, recycling, housing, historical restoration/preservation, environmental conservation/preservation, and so much more. What's taught in urban planning and sustainability courses are things everyday people can understand and possibly apply to their lives.

Campus Housing: Loved the Dorms – The dorms that i lived inon campus were very nice. HassayampaBest was a very good and friendly place to live. There were many activities to do.

Weather: 8 Good Months – At Arizona State, weather is very nice for eight months but the other four are extremely hot. Drink lots of water if you choose to go to asu.

Parking: Parking is extremely expensive but available everywhere. A lot of the parking is covered but it's still really expensive. Some of the parking is far from campus but they provide buses to and from parking lots

Health & Safety: Dorm Security – In order to enter the dorms, one must have an I.D. and a key. The I.D. is used to actually enter the dorm area, while the keys open every door from there on in. It helps provide high security and safety for the studenets on campus and living in the dorms.

Guys & Girls: The guys at Arizona State have a plethora of different ways they dress. Some dress sporty and others based on their culture. The girls tend to wear daisy dukes and lose tops in this hot heat! Many of the students seem to prefer to skateboard around campus, including the girls.

Parking: Growing in numbers every year, parking has become more of a hassle. Parking is extremely expensive and there is rarely any parking available. Not to mention the meters do not provide enough time to even attend class for an hour. This is something ASU needs to improve on without a doubt!

Health & Safety: Safe and Sound – I have never felt threatened on campus. However, I do remember a few instances in which some students have been harassed. Regardless, ASU is a very safe campus!

Campus Food: Not Enough Variety – I think the food there is great! However, I would like to see more dining options across campus. Furthermore, as a Nutrition student I think it is important to offer food options to those who may be vegan.

Technology: The computers at ASU never give me any problems. It takes a while to get to the main screen after you enter your username and password, but the quick internet access more than makes up for it.

3 College Senior

Weather: The temperatue at ASU is not a very big problem during the winter months, but even for an Arizonan, being outside can be unbearable from the late spring to early autumn. If you must attend summer school, choose online classes only.

Health & Safety: I really enjoy attending Arizona State University. I have never had trouble with bullies or the like, but I am mildly annoyed by the smoking on campus. I suggest that someone create designated smoking areas to decrease the likelihood of suffering from second-hand smoke.

Majors: BSW Intern – During the last two semesters of my program of study (Social Work), I am required to complete an internship consisting of 240 hours of internship each semester. Along with the internship comes added responsibilities, deadlines, documentation, etc. because it is essentially another job. The first semester that I had to do an internship I was so exhausted and stressed with everything that needed to get done in a matter of 3 months; I work full-time as a medical research assistant, along with going to school full-time, and interning for 24 hours each week, I hardly had time to eat, sleep, do homework, and there was definitely NO time for extracurricular and leisurely activities. With my major, the process of finding an internship was fairly easy because we get "placed" at different agencies rather than having to go out and look for a company/agency to intern at. There are other colleges and majors at ASU that do it differently than the School of Social Work. For the BSW program there is no pay or stipend for interning, but for the MSW program there are some internships that pay interns.

Off-Campus Dining: Diverse Selection – There are Thai food restaurants, authentic Mexican food restaurants, and a Farmer's Market for high quality products.

Transportation: ASU's parking situation is dire. Parking lots and structures sell out quickly despite the ever-increasing prices, so a large number of students get stuck parking off campus or in a designated lot some distance from campus. The new Light-Rail train system is only useful to students attending multiple campuses, but the free shuttle service helps alleviate some of these problems. The Flash buses are prompt, fast, and free.

Local Area: ASU is the heart of Tempe in Arizona. Shopping, bars, clubs, restaurants all within a stone's throw of the campus means lots to do in town and the surrounding areas, great people watching, and frequent and regular events being put on nearby. Concerts, beer festivals, bicycle festivals, the annual Undie Run, art festivals, Iron Man, block parties galore. Not to mention ASU athletics and it's rival UA to the south keeping traditions and tensions alive and well. There's something for everyone if you can brave the desert heat.

Overall Experience: West Campus – West Campus is a great option for the people who would prefer smaller class sizes and a more personal experience with professors and fellow classmates. Professors seem to really care and are much more available to their students because of the smaller size. Overall it was the best choice of environment for me to accomplish the things that I had wished to accomplish.

Health & Safety: Night Classes – I had to take many night classes at the West Campus and never felt unsafe. The campus is well lit in all areas, including the surrounding outside perimeter and parking lots. There are always security guards around that will be more than happy to escort you to your vehicle or destination if need be and there are also security blue light stations in the parking lots in case of an emergency.

Weather: This Is Arizona Dears Prepare for Heat – that means it is really hot during the summer, like 115 F. Sop be aware of the heat, drink plenty of water and try to stay inside as much as possible during the heat of the day (about 2pm-5pm). Winters are pretty mild but you may need to bundle up a little bit. Oh, and don't worry about rain gear, because we don't often get real weather down here!

Parking: Parking on campus is expensive and inconvenient. I found myself paying several hundred dollars to park in an uncovered lot that was over a mile away from my classes. Not to mention if there was any sort of sport event, I got bumped back to another parking lot that was even further away. I now park at a friend's house and bike a mile and a half to class because even that is easier than dealing with parking on campus.

3 College Junior

Transportation: City bus are great but the shuttle bus are very over crowarded and only run every in mins so some time you have to miss the shuttle and get the next one do to over filled buses

Academics: My program in Doctarate level in Nursing, which enables me to give back to the community with the knowledge I gained from school. My professors are excellent help for me to suceed in every way. They provide us with mentors and prepare us to work efficiently.

Academics: The cirriculum is excellent compared to other Universities in AZ. This ciricullum prepares a graduate student like me to excell in my field and get fully equiped to serve the community.

Campus Quality: Always Thriving – Our campus is full of fun and excitement. We have a beautiful student recreation center with state of the art exercising equipment and an olympic sized pool. ASU also has a bowling alley on campus, where they offer free bowling on some nights! ASU is nationally recognized for our "Green Initiative" and almost every thing we do positively effects the planet. I take pride in my school's ability to inform students on how to Go Green! The best event put on at school is the Fall Welcome Concert. The Programming and Activities Board does an excellent job at bringing a huge band/name to campus to perform for all students FOR FREE!

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
