Drug Safety: As with any college there is a drug scene if you look for it. I haven't had any face to face interaction with that scene but I have heard stories from friends and colleagues about the stuff that goes on during parties and in private. The alcohol visibility isn't too bad directly on campus. That is because it mainly stays on the bars on Mill.

Health & Safety: Good System – Overall ASU has a good safety and security program. There are several methods that students can use such as call boxes that are spread throughout campus. They also utilize technology such as sending out alerts and warnings via text messages and e-mail to keep students informed. The only downfall that I see is that there needs to be more security personnel. I see them every now and then patrolling campus but you really have to try to actually find one of them if you need them.

Overall Experience: If you are coming from the Midwest, you better find out what you are getting into. Kids out near the west coast are very different than us and it takes a lot of getting used to. Go for it, if you think you can live with all the rich, CALI SWAG kids. Best of luck.

Athletics: Flag Football... Playing in the greek league, kids take it way too serious. It is a fun time, kids just need to relax and realize its flag fball.

Academics: Business Exploratory/Undecided – Way to hard to get into the Bachelor of Science Program. Needs minimum 25 of the ACT or make an admission portfolio.

Diversity: The plus side of there being so many people at ASU is that you have people from every ethnic/religious/economic background imaginable. There are clubs for different groups, so it's easy to find people that you have things in common with. Overall, people at ASU are extremely accepting of other religions, ethnicity, sexualities, etc. Walking through campus, you'll see booths where different religious groups have set up booths so you can talk to them if you're interested in their religion. I love the diversity at ASU. I've met a ton of different people, including people from different countries entirely. It's really neat.

Campus Housing: I've lived in the dorms for two years now, and for me, its a mix of what I like and don't like. It's super convenient to live on campus because you're close to your classes and campus activities. You also meet a ton of wonderful people. The best dorming options at ASU are Barrett and Hassy. Do NOT live at Manzy. It's got a really bad reputation, and for good reason. The only things that I don't like about living on campus is that I don't have a kitchen in my room, I can't have my dog (sad), and there are a lot of stupid rules you have to follow, especially when moving out and in for breaks. It's a pain. I also hate the cost. Living on campus is extremely expensive, especially if you bring a car (which I don't recommend). On campus there are a ton of things to all the time. There are a lot of places to get coffee and food, which is nice when you're on the go. The people on campus are overall very nice, and the staff is eager to help.

Local Area: Tempe, AZ – Tempe, AZ is a great college city with a ton of things to do. There are a ton of community activities and things to see in Tempe, including Tempe Town Lakes, the Tempe Center of the Arts, and Mill Avenue (the hot spot to go on weekends). There's also a ton to do at ASU. However, be careful walking around at night by yourself. Try to use the buddy or group system as much as possible. And invest in pepper spray or self defense classes, as sometimes walking around by yourself can be sketchy.

Local Area: Lots to Do – Anything a person could want to do is within reach at ASU. Many nice Malls and plenty of access to nightlife activities.

1 College Freshman

Diversity: There is a lot of focus around sororities and fraternities. Lots of white students and no diversity. The school has a reputation for being a partying and crazy students that have sex all the time. Being gay is very common.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Situation Is Bearable – there is no need for a car on campus. parking costs a lot. there are permit lots available. but there should be more designated parking areas

4 College Freshman

Weather: Great Arizona Sunshine – Classes never get cancelled as a result of the weather. For the most part the sun is always shinning and rarely affects campus.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Meal Plan – Overall the Barrett Honors College meal plan is great. There are options of meal exchanges and various locations on campus as well as unlimited meals in the dining hall and 4 guest meals per week. However guest meal are not accepted at all dining halls on campus and the left over meals do not carry over. Meal exchanges can only be accepted once every half hour and only $100 Maroon and Gold dollars come with the meal plan.

Greek Life: The rumors of the Greek life is that the students only party and do not focus on school. Even though I am not part of any sorority, I have had heard and discovered that the students who are involved in a sorority or fraternity are pushed to do great in their education. It helps them succeed in their academics because they have more resources that can help them with their classes.

Campus Quality: Active Centers for Sun Devil Students and Falculty – At Arizona State University the facilities are alwas active and updated. The student union, Memorial Union is a great place to interact. It has a food court and amazing little markets in the main level. It also has quiet places to study, big rooms to hold events and an enournmous quad to hold events outside. The Student Recreation Center is another facility that is always having events where students, faculty and other visitors can join and participate. Both of these centers and many others are always active for the Sun Devils at ASU.

Technology: Dependable Computer Labs – It is very nice to have your own computer, with the wireless access all over the campus. But if one does not have one it is not a huge deal, because the computer labs in Arizona State University are very dependable. They always have enough computers open for those who do not have a laptop and the printing process is easy as 1, 2, and 3. At Asu, the computer labs are very successful.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: ASU offers a variety of methods of transportation for students and for inter-campus commuting. Very economical. I like it.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: The university is very diverse with respect to ethnicity, and financial backgrounds. I feel great about it.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: General Campus Aesthetics – The campus is very inviting with innovative and interesting landscaping and architecture. ASU has awesome places to sit and relax.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: They are very good. The CA's are always on duty, there are campus police, there are even some fire drills so we know what to do if the situation ever comes up.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Getting Into Programs – For me it wasn't hard getting into my major, it was just difficult to get used to the new college experience as a whole. The most important things was doing well in high school and proving you can handle college all together regarding grades and commitment.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Everyone at ASU are very different in many ways. Everyone excepts everyone and racism is rarely an issue. Most people that go to ASU are wealthy and when it comes to the more controversial issues like political and religious people mostly keep it to themselvs.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Semi Safe – Over all ASU is a large school that has a lot of people of all kinds in it. Crime is rarely reported at the school except for last week with the man going around with a gun trying to rob people. However ASU has a great security system with their safety escorts making it more comfortable going around campus. They strictly enforce all rules for a safe campus as well.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Maybe I'm cheap, but it kind of costs a lot to eat on campus. It's fast food restaurants, but they seem overpriced. I wish there were more options.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Music Program – I love the music program at ASU. My professors are really helpful, but there are some things that should be changed. For example, some classes are irrelevant to my major, and I wish I could spend more time doing applicable things.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
