Off-Campus Dining: Many different restaurants within a mile of campus and tons of variety for food options.

Athletics: ASU football is the most popular sport and students really get hyped up about the games! Even though I don't really like basketball, I still wish it were a bigger part of ASU college life.

Academics: The professors are personable and most of them you feel like you can talk to about any problems you may be having. The workload is basically exactly what I thought it would be. Its more reading than I thought though and less homework homework. The registration process can be a pain because you have certain required classes you need to take that fill up really fast. Overall ASU has been a great academic experience.

Parking: You don't need a car for campus but I do suggest that you have a car. Arizona is beautiful and getting off campus to see what it has to offer is awesome. Parking isn't bad at all but the parking permit is very expensive and is based on where you want to park. (i.e. front parking spots = more expensive and back parking spots = less expensive)

Technology: I have had great success with computers on campus. I was able to access them good and print things out very easily. The speed and organization of them was awesome. I also found that there was a lot of helpful people there to ask questions too if I had a technical problem.

Campus Quality: Student life on campus is indescribable. It is a lifestyle that is like no other. If you stay involved, campus life will be that much more enjoyable. The campus is breathtaking, students are involved and have fun with the activities, students hangout at the library together and form study groups to help further their knowledge and obtain good grades.

Drug Safety: From what I've heard, Arizona State has a pretty big drug issue but I am not involved in it nor are my friends. I have learned that if you don't associate with people who do drugs, you won't get involved. I can tell that some people do drugs by the way they look when they come to class but that is the only experience I have foreseen.

Technology: Computers are really good. They have a vast majority of them. Although most students have their own laptops, for students who don't it helps them out a lot. They are very accessible as well.

Transportation: Public Transportation is pretty good in Tempe. They have small busses called Orbit where they go N, E, W, South of Tempe, which is mostly where all the college kids live and it takes you right to campus. The light rail is very nice as well. It helps a lot with transportation. We also have regular City of Tempe Buses and also a Flash bus that takes us from different spots on campus. We have a shuttle bus that takes us between campuses. So overall transportation is very good.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Smoking weed and drinking are very prevalent at ASU. Its not an inconvenience to anyone really. Unless your being belligerent, nothing will happen. Its pretty low-key.

4 College Freshman

Weather: No classes ever get cancelled, It gets cold in the winter but no reason for classes to get cancelled. It also gets really hot during summer, but we aren't here for the 115 degree weather so its not really a problem.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Many buses to take you through campus. They have ASU run buses for late night pickups, will pick you up and take you where you need to go safely.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: I know that ASU has fantastic student facilities and activities. Sometimes I attend art related actiivites, but honestly I am a married and I hold two jobs to make ends meet, so I rarely attend campus activites

Campus Food: There are a ton of options for dining at ASU. The MU has a lot of options and the dorms have good dining halls as well. You can always find something good on campus. If not, there are places really close to campus too.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: There is always something to do in Tempe. Mill is right next to campus and Tempe Marketplace is not far away. There are also on campus events to go to. ASU has a really great atmosphere.

2 College Sophomore

Administration: People can get away with a lot on campus, especially in the dorms. This is supposed to be a dry campus, but people definitely get away with it. But if you are caught, they do get strict. I would advise just following the rules.

4 College Freshman

Majors: What I like best about the different majors is they try and keep you together when you're housing on campus as a freshman. It helped a lot because most of the other students on my floor were taking close to the same classes as I was so I could go and get help if I needed it, just a few doors down! Most of the time Freshmen get stuck with taking the basic classes for their first year, but ASU has it so that you take your basic classes, but you also are taking one or two classes that have to do with your major, so it helped me stay dedicated to my major!

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The drugs and alcohol are there, its like that at every college. Here at Arizona State, its not normally noticeable. If you go to a party, you're going to see it, obviously. But if you hanging out in your dorm, or hanging out on campus getting something to eat, you'll never see it. The people going to classes are dedicated since most teachers are pretty laid back on attendance. So while on campus, you'll never see it. I know for a fact that kids do it in their dorm room. Most of the time it stayed in the dorm room because students are worried about their CA's finding out. If you don't want to be around it or apart of it, it's not that hard to get away from it.

Campus Housing: There dorm room themselves are really nice, I don't feel like I'm living in a closet which is something I was worried about. What I found to be the most annoying about the dorms in my CA is strict at all and has grown friendships with some on the students on the floor. It may seem great at first, but because she is so laid back, she doesn't enforce quiet hours, which is huge. When I had an important test the next morning, I was kept up by kids running up and the down the halls at 1 am. My CA was one of the people running up and down the halls. She's really nice and really friendly, but because she's so close with some of the other students, she favors them big time. When somebody wants to report them of being loud, she just nods her head and says she'll take care of it. Later that night those people are back to being loud, as if my CA never said a word about it to them.

Another thing that is hard for me to handle is the only kitchen is in a lounge shared with 4 floors. I'm big into cooking my own meals, and when I get one planned out, and I go to the lounge, there are 20 kids sitting around watching football and playing pool. I would cook around them, but then I get their noses in my food asking if they can have some.

I managed to get along great with my roommates, even though we are all so different. I know that on my floor of 24 rooms, me and my roommates are the only full suite left. Almost everyone has either moved rooms or left because of roommate problems. Two weeks into the semester there was a fight between 2 girl roommates because one of them was always nagging on cleaning up. If Arizona State University did some kind of personality test, it would help greatly! But they don't, so until they do, I would almost expect to have a bad roommate.

All in all, the dorm rooms were really nice, and it's extremely convenient living on campus, but I had known all of this before I moved in, I probably would have never come to the dorms in the first place.

Guys & Girls: The people at ASU are outgoing and actively participate in social events at school. Many students have great relationships with their peers and significant others. Most of the students look good and dress well. There are some students that wear weird clothes, but the majority does not.

3 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: The drug scene at ASU is very big. Drinking is huge at ASU and many students party every weekend. The campus is supposed to be alcohol-free, but it this is definitely not enforced.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Food: The dining halls don't have the greatest food, but there are plenty of enjoyable fast food places in the union.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: okay choices nothing great, its just not very diversity.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Light rail is great. Everything else is not. the orbit shuttle is free but goes extremely slow and there are too many drug addicts and homeless people that ride the orbit.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The only reason I'm at ASU is for Sustainability. We have one of the best if not the best Sustainability Education programs in the country.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
