Weather: The Heat Is Killer – It is so hot here. Classes never get cancelled for the weather; it is not too bad, just a little sweat. It can be scorching hot if your walking from class to class but at least we are allowed to ride our bikes or skateboards. When summer is over then the weather gets pretty nice and everyone just hangs out outside.

Drug Safety: I live off campus so don't have Amy experience with the drug safety on campus

Weather: It never gets too cold in Arizona (although it does get too hot during the summer depending on who you ask). For me though I hate being cold so the weather is perfect

Overall Experience: Everything You Could Ask for. ASU is a fantastic university. I couldn't see myself anywhere else. I get to have the "big school" feel and still get the small liberal arts college experience. It's the best of both worlds.

Local Area: Heart of the City – ASU is surrounded by three great cities in Arizona; Tempe, Phoenix, and Scottsdale. There is always something to do and tons of people to meet. When you need a break from the books Mill Ave., right across the street from campus, is a great place to grab a bite to eat, watch an artsy flick at the Art Theatre, or go kayaking on Tempe Town Lake. The Cartel Coffee Lab is a great place to hang out and enjoy some good coffee.

Weather: Too Hot – In Arizona if you can handle the 110+ degree heat, you'll do fine but plan to get to class soaking wet from sweating while walking from one side of campus to the other.

Majors: Life Sciences With a Forensic Chemistry Concentration – I attended Phoenix College and got a dual Associate's Degree; one in Evidence Technology and one in Administration of Justice. I had intended to finish my education at ASU, but my husband's elderly mother got sick and we had to relocate to take care of her. During the four years we were in Virginia, I attended Old Dominion University and Hampton University. We came back to Arizona last August and I FINALLY got to attend ASU. The program is awesome; my only regret is not being able to enroll in ASU as soon as I graduated in 2007... the transferring schools and states has set me back in my graduation date since the Virginia institutions did not accept most of my Phoenix College credits and I had to re take a lot of classes I had already taken.

Athletics: Athletes and Athletic Supporters – Sports are a big thing at ASU... many of our athletes go on to pro teams or the Olympics. The students get very involved, having pep rallies and carnivals and all kinds of school spirit events. Lots of giveaways like mini megaphones and t shirts, and lots of music, food, and fun. Usually the public is also included if they want to come. There are gyms and workout facilities for everyone, and we have a lot of school spirit!!

Guys & Girls: Not Your Typical Social Life – The guys and girls at ASU dress pretty casual. Everyone, including people who work at major corporations, dresses pretty casual due to the 115-120 degree heat here. I attend the ASU West campus, and everyone is really friendly and there is a sense of inclusion for everyone, including myself, a disabled 44 year old non traditional returning student. Of course there are the typical relationships and breakups, but I must admit there is little drama involved. It is overall a very friendly place to be.

Campus Food: We have tons of choices for meals on campus. Food from nations across the world, all you can eat buffets, snacks, BBQ, we have everything as well as actual restaurants have started taking student meal plans as currency.

4 College Junior

Athletics: Div 1 – We are a NCAA division 1 school so we have great athletics programs. Our women's softball has won many championships in the past while and our baseball and soccer teams are good as well. Our football team has a rich history but we have hit a rough patch as of late.

Campus Quality: Lots to Do – There are lots of things to do at the on campus facilities. We have gyms, pools, student union, sports equipment, etc.

Drug Safety: Party Scene – ASU has a large party scene, however the only drug that is consistently used is pot. Drinking is much more abundant.

4 College Junior

Weather: Very Beautiful – Arizona weather is beautiful it is always nice out and the heat is wonderful. As long as you stay hydrated there is no worry.

Overall Experience: Plain Jane – Nothing too special about ASU. Having multiple campuses around the city is cool and the classes are much smaller at West and Downtown so its easier to get to know people

Parking: Be Prepared to Sign Over Your First Born and Your Right Arm – Parking is a nightmare, so expensive, takes 20 mins or more to get to class from lot. Take public transit if possible

Parking: Expensive, Save Your Gas – The parking permits at Arizona State University are very expensive depending how far you plan on walking to your classes. Then is a lot of pedestrian and bike traffic, so it makes driving a bit difficult. While the best alternative mode of transportation is the Metro Light Rail, that runs very close to the campus. Unfortunately biking is a poor choice of transportation, because of the high bicycle theft rate.

Campus Food: There is a wide variety of demographics regarding dining surrounding the Arizona State University campus. As many of the restaurants are in close walking distance, or the use of a light rail as transportation. While the campus holds a decent dining hall, similar to a food court at a shopping mall.

Party Scene: Mill Ave More Like Las Vegas Strip – Technically Arizona State University is a dry and drug free campus, but the majority of the young student body is involved in the wild social scene. However there are many legal alternatives of recreation, such as visiting Tempe Town Lake, or hiking; since the campus is in close distance to several hiking trails. The nightlife depends on a persons personal preference of interest, because Tempe is in a major city, Phoenix.

Greek Life: Animal House – Greek Life is the bonding between a community of college students whom enjoy a life of debauchery and minimal studies at Arizona State Univeristy. The benefits of being involved in Greek Life organizations include Alumni connections in the career world, brotherhood in your Greek Family, and a place to live; as Greek Life have their own homes to live on campus and attend your classes. However the Greek organizations are associated with being party animals and having reckless behavior.

Scholarships: EASY PEASEY LEMON SQUEEZY – When I first applied at ASU I was late enrolling and registering . I was really late filing my fafsa but the financial aid advisers were really helpful and quick at getting the ball rolling. I thought the financial aid process was going to be really difficult but man did they prove me wrong.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: It's All About MILL – Mill Ave at ASU is great for that party animal in you. There are even a lot of activities and places for students to party who are under 21. Mill has all the clubs all lined up perfectly ready for you to just go right in and unleash that party animal in you.

Local Area: Great Fun in the Hot Hot Sun. There is so much to do here in Phoenix AZ. It's very relaxed and laid back because well who wants to fight in this intense heat. There's water parks, skyparks, great arcades and bowling alleys for that kid inside. There's tons of hiking trails, parks, a great zoo, and even an environmental revival center to satisfy that inner tree hugger.

Guys & Girls: Beautiful Women and Hot GUYS! With ASU being one of the largest universities in the United States, there are plenty of people to choose from. A lot of the girls are tan and tall, and have awesome hair. Most of the guys are very fit and into sports and the campus life. Mostly all people on campus are friendly too, and there are always new opportunities to meet new people.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Light Rail With a Bike – Light rail is the best option to me. With so many people on campus and parking passes becoming more and more expensive. If you get a light rail pass its a lot cheaper than a parking pass. Not only this but you can take your bike on with you. Once you arrive a t campus its much faster to get around the huge campus by bike. Not only is it quick, but great exercise as well!

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
