Academics: I'm an engineering major and a student at Barrett, so my opinion may be a bit unorthodox. I have only had one professor that I would call less-than-desirable, and that was only because he was extremely egotistical. All of my other professors have been fair in their workload and ready to spend as much time as needed to help their students understand concepts. Also, I should note that the Barrett faculty is exceptionally great, and one of my Barrett professors even helped me start my own club! If you can get into Barrett, then ASU should jump to one of your top schools. If not, the engineering professors are still fantastic, nice, and caring, so ASU as a safety school actually is not that bad.

Off-Campus Housing: The on-campus dorms are usually chosen by most students, unless they have money to spend. If one can afford the nicer apartments and houses near campus, they won't be disappointed. However, if a student gets so angry with the on-campus housing, there are plenty of cheap, safe options around campus, but oftentimes in these situations the quality of the actual rooms isn't great. Safety is constantly paramount, though, and crime is not a bother for an ASU student living near campus. I'd recommend living off campus with a roommate if you can.

Local Area: Lots of stuff to do in the area around campus. Mill avenue is nice for bar crawls and clubs at night, and culinary wonders and shopping during the day. There is every cuisine one could imagine near ASU, with everything from fantastic ramen and burgers to authentic Indian food, Mexican food, and Greek food. The best part is that most food places are open extremely late for those late-night study sessions that characterize college. I feel extremely safe both on and off campus when near ASU, as the Tempe PD is extremely vigilant and effective when it comes to crime. The non-student community of Tempe is extremely accepting of one of the nation's largest universities, and oftentimes will offer discounts to ASU students as a sign of goodwill. If you bombed a test or just had a breakup (or are hungover), the local restaurant owner will be more than happy to sit for awhile and listen. Overall, Tempe is one of the most amazing places to be, because whether you're an all-out partier or a nerdy shut-in, there is always something to do.

Majors: Engineering is a rigorous and challenging major, but there is still a lot of room for fun activities and projects. All the teachers are very friendly and focused on preparing you with the right tools for the job. I have really enjoyed my time here, and feel confidant that when the time comes for me to join the work force I will be very cable of the tasks handed to me.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many diverse restaurants around campus. Because they are not far, it is very convenient.

Local Area: There is a ton restaurants and bars nearby the campus. Plus there is the light rail, buses, and of course taxis, making transportation easy. The only downside to this is it can become pricy, and it is very crowded.

Health & Safety: The campus has many emergency boxes around the campus, where you can contact security to let them know you do not feel safe. There is an abundant amount of these, and this makes me feel safe. There is also many police officers around campus.

Scholarships: The online paperwork was not difficult. It should be strait forward if you keep good records, like taxes. However, I personally never receive any aid, so that is disappointing.

Academics: These is such a vast variety of academics offered at my school. The collage I attend is the Engineering collage. I am very happy to express that all the teachers and administrative advisors have been very nice, though you do need to approach them and be vocal when you need help. The transfer process was not to difficult, from jr. collage to this university.

Athletics: There is a strong sense of school pride when it comes to sports. Many people attend the games: students and civilians. There is special seating for students however, and the school spirit shines the brightest there.

Party Scene: I have not personally experienced this, but people seem to have the impression that there are many great parties at my University.

Administration: The Strictness is mostly validated by a logical and ethical reasoning. This includes things like attendance, honor (plagiarism) etc. The only one that dies not fit this model is the parking. The campus staff is very strict on parking; it is expensive and scarce. There is no logical reasoning for this other than profit, and should be more conducive to the functionality of the school, instead of causing many issues.

Athletics: Sports are great for entertainment and for the students involved to help them academically.

Administration: There is always someone to help you and be there in the time of need.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is convenient to class and dining as well as the social scene.

Party Scene: I am not a big party person but I hear they are great and a lot to choose from.

Local Area: I love the campus and the surrounding campus's. There is always something to do and engage in.

Majors: It is great, I get to work in a field that I love and create relationships with people in the Work place and begin to make connections.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not into Greek life and all I hear about are the parties and not so much community service or what they stand for.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I manage my time well and am able to get extra help and create great communication with my professors.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of different options and the times that they are open are convenient as well.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are many options and the school does a great job of aiding students in the right direction.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: On campus we have Blue lights that are a tool for safety. There are always police and security around to ensure that students are safe in the area that they live in.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Since I am on scholarship, that helps a lot but I'm worried about my graduate program. The admission to undergraduate program is not difficult at all and is fairly easy. No difficulties at all.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
