Party Scene: There are not many nightlife opportunities for people that are under 21, because the best bars and clubs are 21+, but there are always parties that are relatively easy to find.

Health & Safety: I have not heard any incidents of crime or theft on the West campus. It is small, friendly, and there are generally cops/security available for protection. There is also options available for somebody to walk you to the parking lot if you get out of class later at night.

Scholarships: Due to the fact that I am living at home, I do not qualify for many of the financial need based scholarships my school offers. This is because my parents make an average amount of money and could help me out, they just don't want to. I did, however, receive a merit-based scholarship for my tuition from my high-school which was disbursed promptly.

Academics: I am a freshman, secondary education major. Due to the fact that I am only in my freshman year I have not yet experienced some of the great things about this program. ASU has one of the top programs for teachers, called iTeach. In this program, we focus on our specific subject areas so that we are proficient and then are given more student teacher time than most programs. Also, many of the people in this program are hired directly after graduation.

Academics: I enjoy the ASU West campus, due to the fact that it's smaller and generally more friendly. The transition from high school to college can often be difficult but this campus is considerably less confusing and intimidating. I am an education major and the teachers in this program are excellent.

Campus Food: While the dining halls are all you can eat, they become very boring and bland once youre two months into class. They close at very early and inconvenient times, and are usually packed. Thankfully though, there are other places to eat on campus such as devils diner, or burger king, qdoba, papa johns and taco bell that are open late for those hard working students!

Transportation: The public transportation is very convenient for students who want to travel to other areas around campus. For example, theres the orbit, which will take you to the tempe marketplace if you need to do some grocery shopping. As well as the lightrail which can take you form the phoenix area, all the way into downtown tempe.

Health & Safety: The ASU campus is generally a safe haven for students, but once you delve deeper into the city of tempe or towns surrounding it such as mesa, or chandler, you may find yourself in some trouble.

Majors: Im in the Fulton School of Engineering here at ASU. This is a great program so far. The teachers I've had have all been wonderful and happy to help you. I got the exact class schedule I wanted for there are so many options given to you. The workload of chemical engineering so far has not been to much I have been able to handle it well. They also have job fairs and programs that help you when need to earn money.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Many different restaurants within a mile of campus and tons of variety for food options.

Athletics: ASU football is the most popular sport and students really get hyped up about the games! Even though I don't really like basketball, I still wish it were a bigger part of ASU college life.

Academics: The professors are personable and most of them you feel like you can talk to about any problems you may be having. The workload is basically exactly what I thought it would be. Its more reading than I thought though and less homework homework. The registration process can be a pain because you have certain required classes you need to take that fill up really fast. Overall ASU has been a great academic experience.

Parking: You don't need a car for campus but I do suggest that you have a car. Arizona is beautiful and getting off campus to see what it has to offer is awesome. Parking isn't bad at all but the parking permit is very expensive and is based on where you want to park. (i.e. front parking spots = more expensive and back parking spots = less expensive)

Technology: I have had great success with computers on campus. I was able to access them good and print things out very easily. The speed and organization of them was awesome. I also found that there was a lot of helpful people there to ask questions too if I had a technical problem.

Campus Quality: Student life on campus is indescribable. It is a lifestyle that is like no other. If you stay involved, campus life will be that much more enjoyable. The campus is breathtaking, students are involved and have fun with the activities, students hangout at the library together and form study groups to help further their knowledge and obtain good grades.

Drug Safety: From what I've heard, Arizona State has a pretty big drug issue but I am not involved in it nor are my friends. I have learned that if you don't associate with people who do drugs, you won't get involved. I can tell that some people do drugs by the way they look when they come to class but that is the only experience I have foreseen.

Technology: Computers are really good. They have a vast majority of them. Although most students have their own laptops, for students who don't it helps them out a lot. They are very accessible as well.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Public Transportation is pretty good in Tempe. They have small busses called Orbit where they go N, E, W, South of Tempe, which is mostly where all the college kids live and it takes you right to campus. The light rail is very nice as well. It helps a lot with transportation. We also have regular City of Tempe Buses and also a Flash bus that takes us from different spots on campus. We have a shuttle bus that takes us between campuses. So overall transportation is very good.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Smoking weed and drinking are very prevalent at ASU. Its not an inconvenience to anyone really. Unless your being belligerent, nothing will happen. Its pretty low-key.

4 College Freshman

Weather: No classes ever get cancelled, It gets cold in the winter but no reason for classes to get cancelled. It also gets really hot during summer, but we aren't here for the 115 degree weather so its not really a problem.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Many buses to take you through campus. They have ASU run buses for late night pickups, will pick you up and take you where you need to go safely.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: I know that ASU has fantastic student facilities and activities. Sometimes I attend art related actiivites, but honestly I am a married and I hold two jobs to make ends meet, so I rarely attend campus activites

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There are a ton of options for dining at ASU. The MU has a lot of options and the dorms have good dining halls as well. You can always find something good on campus. If not, there are places really close to campus too.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: There is always something to do in Tempe. Mill is right next to campus and Tempe Marketplace is not far away. There are also on campus events to go to. ASU has a really great atmosphere.

2 College Sophomore

Administration: People can get away with a lot on campus, especially in the dorms. This is supposed to be a dry campus, but people definitely get away with it. But if you are caught, they do get strict. I would advise just following the rules.

Arizona State is like no other university in the country. With a large, vibrant, and exciting student body that truly makes the campus unique, there is no arguing that ASU is by any means a boring place to be for the next four years of your life. As soon as you step onto ASU's campus, you will feel the immense amount of positive and exciting energy that gives you sense of belonging. Even though there are so many students around campus, you will be sure to find a niche to call your own. College is the time to find yourself and truly learn who you are as you prepare for the real world. ASU provides the perfect environment to challenge you to make "adult" decisions, and you won't always, but by the end of it all, you will mature into a dedicated individual!

Even though students will struggle with all-nighters, sports practice, parking tickets, and trying to recover from a great night, many of them couldn't ask for anything else. There will be times that you are drowning in homework and studying, but by the end of it all, you will look back and laugh. Your peers help you get through the tough times and make those social outings even more fun. ASU knows how to party hard, but when it comes to crunch time, we pull it off well. The kids here know how to have a great time, the nightlife and social settings are extremely fun, the academics are quite challenging—especially when you apply yourself and take it seriously—but most importantly, students will leave prepared for post-graduation and taking on the world. ASU is a fantastic place to meet new people and a great way to experience life in the great southwest. But don't take my word for it—come on out and experience it for yourself!
