4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There is such a good mix of students here it diversifies the campus. Although there are more girls than boys, the campus still feels like any other college. There is a nice range of people.

Technology: not enough lab computers at peak times and if you have a laptop, the wireless is not consistent

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors are wonderful. This is my second year here and so far I have only had one professor that I thought was sub-par.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Good, my first year the winter was very mild but even if it's raining or snowing the campus is small so getting to classes isn't that big of a deal. Everything is within a 10 minute walk.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: The school is pretty generous, although many students still pay more than is reasonable. You can appeal for more financial aid, but you aren't guaranteed much success. The financial aid office is pretty helpful.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: The meals are overpriced for the quality, but the taste is not terrible. There aren't many ethnic/kosher/vegetarian/vegan options and the menu is pretty standard and Americanized. There are great local restaurants though.

5 College Junior

Technology: Arcadia is a commuter school, so most of the campus is commuter friendly. clubs are held in the evening usually or very late at night, so commuters might have trouble with that. Also, a personal computer is very helpful as the library and computer labs get very crowded

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: If you want to find students who use drugs often, you can, but it is just as easy to avoid the drug scene

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Arcadia is right outside of Center City, Philadelphia. We have access to the city at any time! AU students also receive many discounts to many places with their Knight Card (student ID).

3 College Freshman

Academics: AU has a lot of great professors who really know the material they teach. They're always willing to help, so if someone feels he or she is falling behind, a teacher is always willing to help him or her catch up. AU opens a lot of doors too.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The drug scene is nearly inexistent. AU has a zero tolerence rule for drugs. If someone is caught with them, he or she is immedicately expelled.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Teachers really propose a challenge, but it's all very worth it.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academics: Global Emphasis – Arcadia is very big on incorporating global perspectives into their curriculum which is great. Other than this, the curriculum is fairly similar to any other university. The registration process is easy and meetings with advisers are required. The workload is definitely manageable depending on one's major and level of potential. Study areas include the library, any of the classrooms on campus, the new Commons building, the Cafe, and lounges spotted through the dorms and apartments.

5 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Very, Very Diverse. Arcadia is extremely welcoming to all racial groups, economic backgrounds, political affiliations, faiths, and sexual orientations. There is a club for everything! A decent percentage of Arcadia's population is homosexual. Arcadia also has a lot of international students.

Campus Quality: The Social Life Is What You Make It – There are plenty of activities to do on and off campus but students definitely have to make an effort to get student involvement. There is always something happening but networking is the best way to find the fun. Furthermore, the study abroad programs are amazing. Students can pretty much study in any country for however many semesters they like/can afford.

Campus Quality: Beautiful, Small Campus – There is always something being renovated and updated on Arcadia University's campus. A new commons building complete with lounges, a game room, study spaces, and an eatery gathers students at all hours of the day and evening. The campus' biggest feature is the Grey Towers Castle which overlooks the entire campus. Dorm style living is also available in the castle. Several playing fields are always attracting student games and activities. The campus is always active during the day, and several traditions like Fall Fest, Cotillion, and Spring Fling really bring the campus to life for a weekend of fun.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Not Too Bad – The Finaid committee does as much as they can do based on your profile.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather correlates with the seasons. It's certainly not hot all year long. The winters are brutal.

College Junior

Majors: Haven't Started Yet – Although I have a great feeling for all the faculty I have met thus far, I have not yet begun classes at this school. I am a transfer student and am entering my junior year this fall.

5 College Junior

Majors: Summer Orientation Was the Key – As a transfer student, getting into the program was very easy. I just spoke with the transfer advisor and told him my intended major. During summer orientation, I met with my program advisor, discussed my transferred credits, mapped my degree completion plan, and signed up for my fall classes.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: It Is Okay – The food does get repetitive, but it's not that bad. The Chat food is better than the dining hall food.

2 College Sophomore

Administration: Severe Punishment – The punishments can be severe when it comes to violating the drinking and drug policies. The housing assistants will get you busted, well most will. Violating these drinking and drug policies can result in letters home to family, mandatory drug and alcohol classes, and risk of losing housing and being at the school all together.

Transportation: Buses or Trains Are the Best Way to Go – The train station is about a mile down the road right through town, and the bus station is right outside the campus. I take the train every day I come to school, it's cheap and convenient , I love it.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Crowded Labs and Slow Connection – Sometimes the connection is slow depending on where you are at the school. During midterms and finals, finding a computer in the library or the lab can be slim to none.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Cutest Campus Ever – It is nearly impossible to feel unsafe on Arcadia's cute little campus. Even at night the campus is well lit, comfortable and scenic.

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
