Greek Life: There is no Greek Life.

Health & Safety: We do not have real police officers on campus. We do not know the way in which Public Safety is trained here, which makes me feel like I would be better off protecting myself if I needed help.

Scholarships: I feel as though it was hard to get the information I needed and I never personally met with my assigned adviser which is frustrating.

Local Area: the town of glenside is boring, got to take a bus to the mall in willow grove. or you could spend money for a train to philly which never happens

Off-Campus Dining: not the best. only chinese, pizzaz, and wawa. but hey its better than the on-campus food!!

Athletics: well being d3 is fine but i wish there was a football team. no one goes to any sporting events, which is a thing that people at other schools do to all come together like a big family. the fitness center is half decent, i use it all the time but after new years everyone has their resolutions for about a month so its really crowded because of how small it is. once they leave it is good again.

Academics: only good thing about the school=academics. most teachers are always there to help you in and out of class. and your advisor is a great help as well.

Campus Food: the food is horrible. no healthy options at all. everything is drenched in oil and fats. i always get nauseous and i rarely eat until i am about to pass out then i shove a slice of fattening pizza down my throat.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: i am the type that likes the party scene and going out to socialize but sadly i picked the worst school for that. unless you're on a sports team then there is nothing. no greek life so no college ave = no parties = boring on weekends = i go home every single weekend because my dog entertains me more than arcadia.

Off-Campus Housing: well you have two choices pretty much: oak apartments which is affiliated with the school or towers which is not. oak is grungy but towers is really nice, like a hotel type of feel, but very very very expensive

Administration: its not like it is strict really?

Campus Housing: Meh sounds about how to explain the campus housing.

Party Scene: Nonexistent! Unless you want to go to into the city, there is nothing

Campus Food: Not at all great. No variety and the portions at the chat at least for the meal exchange are ridiculous.

Scholarships: The only reason that I came to this school was because how unbelievably generous the financial aid was, especially in comparison to other universities' offers.

Administration: My favorite thing about Arcadia is the laid back rule enforcement. Very convenient..

Off-Campus Dining: There's a diner across the street but honestly, that is. Downtown Glenside is a mile walk away and it can get sketchy at night since the food options shut down around 10 pm..

Local Area: For a social butterfly like myself, Glenside is dull and hard to live in. Downtown Glenside has a few cute shops but that's about it. There aren't really any attractions unless you feel like taking a 30 minute train ride to the city, which surprisingly many students don't feel like doing.

Administration: Students are treated as adults. Thus, there's not a lot of strictness on campus, but the alcohol and drug strictness is enforced.

Scholarships: I still have trouble with communicating with financial aid. If you want t get good financial aid, make sure you apply to FAFSA as early as you can.

Campus Housing: The dorms are average. The best option is definitely Oak Summit Apartments, but if you're a freshman, you can not live on Oak. For freshmen living on campus, most of the dorms have their ups and downs. Kistler, Thomas, or Dilworth, are convenient because they connect with each other, and they are close to most of the buildings on campus. Heinz is closer to the library and Taylor Hall, and so is Knight Hall. The downside of living in the dorms (especially KTD) are the mice. More often than not, there is a rodent problem in these dorms. Housing prices vary, but if you want a single, be advised that the cost is pretty high. Amenities tend to be okay, but get unclean frequently.

Off-Campus Dining: Cost is reasonable. Convenience depends on where you live on campus. If you live in the dorms on campus, Michaels is the closest off campus dining. If you're ordering for delivery, Queen Sushi tends to take longer than expected to deliver. There's not much variety for off campus dining. There's a few pizza places, a Dunking Donuts, a diner (Michaels), Queen Sushi (but you have to order for delivery), Dreams Ice Cream Factory (not very close to campus, order to deliver), and a few bars (you have to be 21+).

Health & Safety: The security on campus is excellent. There are rare cases of campus crime. In terms of personal safety, I rarely felt unsafe walking around campus at night. Public safety is always on rounds, and are there to assist anyone who is in need. Moreover, the public safety staff are very friendly.

Local Area: It appears that the local area is recovering from the economic recession. With that being said, there's not much to see and do in the downtown area. If one is interested in thrift, consignment, and boutique shops, there are plenty of those in the area. There are a few dining places off campus, yet the dining areas are not very diverse. In terms of safety, most students feel safe walking around the downtown area. Local attitude towards students is above average. Business owners take interest in customers who are students, and they do give discounts to any student who shows their Knight card. In terms of activities, there are little to no activities in the local area.

Scholarships: I got a scholarship and financial aid, and somehow still had to pay 7000$ a semester, which isnt awful, right?

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
