Greek Life: Sometimes the greeks are ok, but occasionally they will fall into typical "cliques."

Greek Life: Greek life on Appalachian's campus is unlike any other North Carolina school. It's smaller, more lowkey, and more accepting. Anyone and everyone can get involved, but if you don't, you'll most likely know and be friends with all the same people. However, the day you get a bid will be one of the most memorable days of your life. On that day, sorority woman will meet 100+ other girls that become their sisters - a concept that was foreign to me at first being an only child. They welcome you with welcome arms (literally, there's a lot of hugging) and celebrate you and your values. Greeks show their support for other Greeks and their organizations with all different campus and off-campus activities. Greek life doesn't make up a high percent of the undergraduate population, but it has made up many incredible, unforgettable experiences for me.

Greek Life: In my opinion because of my experiences through Greek life, it is something I would encourage everyone to at least check out. While the typical stereotype of sororities and fraternities in popular entertainment tends to be that members are "party animals," that is undoubtedly a small part of what Greek life is about. Many of the charity events on campus are sorority and fraternity sponsored, for example, my fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, hosts multiple fundraising events throughout the year for support in defeating Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, as well as clothing drives and charity races.
