Transportation: There are many buses that run at Appalachian State but there are times where the buses are extremely crowded and makes some people uncomfortable.

Majors: I would definitely take Economics again, the teachers are very helpful and they like to challenge the students. The thing Economics that would worry me if it was my only major is that it is very broad and not a specialized degree.

Local Area: There are tons of things to do in Boone! We are in the mountains so we are close to tons of hikes, waterfalls, parks and the blue ridge parkway! There are also many cool tourist attractions you can find along the road, like advertisements for caving, ziplining, tubing, kayaking and more!

Administration: I have never felt restricted by my campus, my apartment complex is a different story. As far as campus goes, just don't speed through the main roads of campus and don't walk around belligerently drunk and in my opinion you will be fine.

Drug Safety: I haven't any drugs on campus at all, but I know it happens because well this is college and college kids get into that. I would say because it is a wet campus that alcohol is more prevalent, but I haven't seen anyone drinking yet.

Scholarships: I had a hassle with the financial aid office last year and I ended up not getting to come, but that wasn't their fault. I would say that the financial aid process is going to be a headache no matter how much you're borrowing. It's just a hassle that no one wants to deal with but has to in order to come to school or to get people into school. Not necessarily the school's financial aid office's fault.

Party Scene: There is plenty to do in Boone during the day and night. Plenty of eateries, clubs, and bars. Plus there are generally multiple parties going on throughout the weekend if you like doing that sort of stuff. Just get in contact with people who generally go to parties and catch a ride with them. There is also multiple services that can get you back to your house or apartment safely without you having to drive back if you're over 21 and drinking.

Weather: When the weather is nice, everyone goes outside and some teachers even have classes outside. But, the snow will come and classes will continue as scheduled. They rarely get cancelled.

Transportation: The appalcart buses run all day and have several pick-up locations throughout town and the campus. If you are out late, you can call to be picked up by the van, which will take you wherever you need to go in town.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Computers in the library always work great. Printing is offered at a decent price and (unless its exam time) its never too crowded. However, internet in the dorms can be spotty and frustrating

Transportation: There is great transportation at Appalachian. Buses run all over town and all end up on campus at some point. If you need transportation on campus after the buses have shut down, there is a program called Safe Ride that will pick you up and drop you off where you need to be.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I was only offered loans after graduating at the top of my high school class as well as being involved in multiple clubs and a varsity sport. Pretty disappointing that merit doesn't seem to get you very far, only need.

Greek Life: Greek life is present but not prominent at Appalachian. Sometimes they can annoy other students but the peace is usually kept. No fancy Greek houses and you can get into the parties.. if you're a girl at least

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: A lot of hipsters, hippies, and wannabe street kids. Some really great (and also not so great) dreads around campus. Most people are pretty outdoorsy and active, welcoming and fun!

Transportation: The appalcart is a fast and easy way to get to off campus and on campus places.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is a good variety of chain restaurants and local places, the only thing Boone is lacking is late night places.

Athletics: Appalachian has a great variety of sports available. Our football program is great, we're moving up to the next devision next year so that'll be exciting. We have a great basketball team and other great sports.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is very strong and have parties and things all the time at app state. I find it makes it a pain to do certain things because the greek life already has it filled or rented out.

Academics: It is alright the teachers just do their job not many of them go out of the way to help their kids. Alot of the teachers are about to retire and seem not to care about anything. There is a very wide spectrum of classes to try and go to.

Weather: The weather is crazy changing all the time it will go from snowing to raiining to sunny all in a span of a few hours. This makes it hard to dress correctly for the day when you never know what to expect.

Guys & Girls: The variety is there we have hippies or crafty people, also have very athletic people walking around and doing things. Every one gets along well and there are many variety of people to talk to and look at.
