Athletics: Appalachian sports are a fun place to experience the culture of the school. With three state football championships the games are always a blast. Basketball games are a great place to get free t shirts and other ASU gear.

Overall Experience: Appalachian State University is an excellent school for any person looking to expand their horizons. The campus life is fantastic and full of amazing opportunities to experience new things. The students and faculty of the college are always friendly and willing to help with anything they can. Boone gives you a small town feeling in the midst of a busy college atmosphere. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains and filled with opportunities to experience the outdoors, it is a wonderful place to learn. Beautiful snow in the Winter, and gorgeous Summer days, this college has it all. Once you live there, you will not want to leave.

Campus Housing: My hall is in literally in a perfect spot. It's not to far away from my classes and it's very close to the dining hall.

Greek Life: I think the students in Greek housing do many positive things on the campus and the community. Even at the sport games most Greek fraternities show amazing support.

Athletics: The school is overflowing with energy at every sport event and game on campus. Every student out there is supporting the athletes that represent the school and we stay proud at our athletes, win or lose.

Overall Experience: I would love to stay at the college I am currently enrolled in but it doesn't offer the academic career program that I need for my intended major. Other than that the school is completely unique and full of diverse students which makes it amazing.

Health & Safety: The safety on campus is great? Awareness is spread constantly. There are supportive groups for anyone that has had to suffer an assault, regardless of where or when the assault took place. Unfortunately, there are still assaults every year on campus. Many are likely to not be reported and there have even been cases when young females have been raped and then murdered. It's a terrible tragedy every time, but I at least feel that my campus does it's best to prevent and recover from all assaults.

Overall Experience: My particular field with film, writing and Spanish is simply a very unique field, and it is quite difficult to ascertain a legitimate career out of a degree in these fields. That being said, it is quite difficult to find the means to get the necessary experience for my future, intended career without getting very creative and collaborating with my professors. There are career fairs for each semester of school, but none of the businesses that attend the career fair attend for any organization that would represent my interests.

Campus Housing: The overall experience is very nice. You are in a much closer proximity to classes, but the price is a bit higher than I would have probably found elsewhere off of the main campus. The atmosphere wasn't anti-social, but most of the time it's quite laid back. The convenience of a laundry room is great, but most individuals neglect their laundry and leave it there which hinders many others. The buildings are usually very clean. The space in the rooms are usually cramped.

Greek Life: The Greek life is very large on campus, but it's not as huge as it may be at other universities. There are hundreds of students on and around this campus that are members of a sorority or fraternity. Though there are many individuals associated with the Greek life on campus, there isn't a strong sense of passion with regards to those individuals and their brotherhoods or sisterhoods on campus. There occasionally volunteer for the community, but they can be mainly found around the campus fund raising and advertising for pledging seasons. They aren't a negative presence on campus, they are fine to have, but they are mainly neutral.

Athletics: The students that attend the school are very passionate about upcoming sporting events. Even those that are not typically fans of the sports themselves are commonly found at upcoming rallies and competitions. The cheering and chanting is always thunderous and stand-shaking. The team itself has its ups and downs with great seasons and poor seasons, but there is always a sense of pride in the players and athletes. The athletic facilities are good for the student population. There are multiple gyms on campus, and each has its own sense of atmosphere and intensity. There is a wide variety of opportunities on campus for students to pass the time with their own hobbies. There is everything from racquetball courts, basketball courts and tennis courts to rock climbing walls, cardio areas, indoor tracks, pools, weight lifting areas and more.

Overall Experience: I love being able to wake up and have so many opportunities to roam the campus for cool, new events and meet new individuals. I've been able to help start new clubs and completely new events around the campus. It really is an incredible experience and opportunity for exploration. The teachers are usually very easy to approach and clearly care about their students, however they can be quite disorganized at times which can greatly impede their teachings and hinder my learning experience. Parking is a nightmare everywhere. There is nowhere for anyone to park without paying hundreds of dollars per semester. I can't even park in the gravel parking lot that's 5-feet from my apartment without it getting called in for a tow. Though there is public transportation provided for free, which is amazing. But I still have a car that I pay for on a regular basis, and I am unable to take it anywhere and park it anywhere. But the buses have drivers that are usually very pleasant and the sights to see around my college's town are beautiful and worth the experience. There are also hundreds of clubs/organizations on campus with opportunities to create new ones if enough interest can be raised. I think the overall experience is great, but there are certainly some things that I feel can be easily fixed.

Overall Experience: I love almost every single one of my classes. They are all so great and the professors do care about me. I know in high school all my teachers told me that my professors in college would not care if I failed or passed their class, but at Appalachian it is different. The professors do care and that means a lot to me.

Health & Safety: Our campus is very safe. There have been two or three cases of sexual assault but other than that, there really has not been any crimes.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: As a freshman, I lived in East Hall. Although the rooms are some of the biggest on campus, the layout of the hall is not ideal. I never got to socialize with my hall-mates and I did not become friends with any of them. The bathrooms were big but did not supply anything to dry my hands with after washing them. All together the experience was okay.

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big on campus. Although it is pretty big, most people do not enjoy it, whether they are involved or not. Non-greeks think greeks are pretty annoying when it comes to all the stuff they have to do. We only have a hotel for the sororities and the fraternities have to provide their own houses.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: The school spirit is unbelievable. Going to football games, basketball games, and even volleyball games are always so exciting. The other students in the stands make the game more intense and more exciting. It is the best feeling going and supporting all our athletes.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Appalachian State University is the best school in North Carolina. It's great location gives students a break from all the work of college to go and enjoy the outdoors. Having the Blue Ridge Parkway so close is one of the best things. Going and seeing all the amazing views just by driving on the road is an amazing experience recommended to everyone.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Dorms are spacious enough for two people to room comfortably together. Bathrooms are kept clean and housing provides house keepers for basic jobs. Dorms are all close to each other is located 5 minutes from central campus and classes.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Appalachian does not let greek life live on campus. Greek life however does play a huge part in the community of Boone. They throw fundraisers and help raise awareness for deafness, blindness, and other disabilities.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Appalachian's sports life is a huge deal around campus. Tailgating for football games, standing in the snow waiting for kick-off, and cheering on our mountaineers when we get touchdowns. The stadium is filled with people of all different ages with the same love for App States football team. As the winter season comes around, students are parents are hiking down in the snow to watch our basketball on the court. The gyms are packed with people and everyone is sharing the love for App's sports

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The advisors and professors put their students first. If students need advice or guidance, the staff is more than willingly to step forward. The schools unique environment allows for students to connect and get involved with the community. The diversity around campus expands the students knowledge of many lifestyles and cultures.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Many students on campus utilize career services to find jobs on campus that work with their busy college lives.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Like any school, there are good and bad courses and teachers to have. Fortunately, the majority of professors are helpful and fun to have.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: While living in a freshman dorm is very cramped, the social atmosphere is an excellent way to make friends and get involved on campus.
