Local Area: Boone is the cutest little town with so many colorful and interesting people! The King Street area is one of my favorite places to hang out and do a little shopping. There are usually a lot of cultural events to attend such a bluegrass music events and even some barn dances

Party Scene: I have never been to a party but many of my friends have and from what I gather they never get too wild and they usually happen off campus somewhere

Administration: If you don't go looking for trouble, you won't find it. Just abide by the simple rules they lay out for you, and have some common courtesy and everything will be fine. Its not that hard. The only thing is sometimes the RAs can be a little power hungry, but they can't really do anything to you and its kind of fun to mess with them ;D

Majors: Arts, Business, and Teaching are the main majors that come to mind when I think of this school. It started as a teaching college and has grown from there. The classes are challenging but very informative and all the professors are very kind and understanding. I am a photography major and the campus is equipped with a print lab, a station where you can rent all kinds of camera equipment for free as long as you have insurance on it. there are many internship opportunities for this major and many others too.

Campus Quality: Its just such a beautiful place and the people are all so friendly and outgoing and down to earth. There is a real community feel to the place and you rest easy knowing that when you say hello to someone passing by they will say it back. I love it.

Greek Life: I never got into Greek life, but its definitely not as big a deal around campus as I think it is in other schools. I was friends with people in sororities even though I myself was not in one. There is no on campus housing for Greek life but there is a hotel-style building located not far off campus where many sororities all live together.

Athletics: Everyone knows App State is huge for their football team. Other than that, we don't get a ton of attention in sports. But everyone goes out to the games and has a good time tailgating even in the bitter cold. It is a ton of fun!

Off-Campus Housing: There are many options all varying in price and distance from campus. It can be a hassle being so far from your classes especially when the weather is bad. its hard to find the motivation to get all the way over to campus for just a class. But many of the off campus apartments have great features such as free printing, pools, the ability to have pets (YAY DOGS), and free parking, plus they're almost all on the bus route so thats good.

Scholarships: Getting financial aid is stressful no matter where you go, especially when you have the looming threat of eventually having to pay all that debt off. But I was able to get what I needed relatively easily from ASU

Health & Safety: There have been more sexual assaults than anyone wants to see on campus, but you can definitely tell it is the administrations number one goal to spread awareness of the topic. I would say that during orientation and welcome weekend for freshmen, sexual assault and prevention of it was one of the number one things we discussed, and there was always some seminar or lecture going on on campus. The counseling center and the health services office are also always always willing to help anyone out as well.

Campus Housing: I lived in White Hall, the all-girls dorm on campus, and loved it. It was so easy to make new friends since everyone was so close. I met so many lovely people who I know will be life long friends and I love them all so much. The best part was that I could get pretty much anywhere on campus that I needed to be in just under a twenty minute walk. Its also pretty close to a bus stop, if I didn't feel like walking or wanted to go somewhere off campus. They are the biggest or the nicest dorms but you definitely get used to it and don't even notice after a few weeks. The place really starts to feel like home fast.

Off-Campus Dining: Every fast food restaurant you could possibly want for those students just trying to grab a quick and cost-effective bite. Well known franchise restaurants such as Chili's and Cracker Barrel too for those looking for something familiar. And also several great restaurants that are local to the area such as the Daniel Boone Inn, which is by far my favorite place to eat for special occasions, great for getting together to celebrate something with your friends. Blowing Rock is only several miles from Boone so if you have a car getting there is no sweat, and they have great dining options as well!
