Campus Housing: It's a dorm room, how great can it be???

Overall Experience: I am in a graduate certificate program, so my class choices are fixed. I have had a moderately easy time choosing and registering for them and have had no issues with class cancellations or a class being filled before I could register for it. My classes are online and use Moodle. I do not like Moodle; I like Blackboard better. However, Moodle would not prevent me from taking classes at App State in the future. I like every professor I have had so far. I am glad that I chose this program. When I am finished, I will have a Graduate Certificate and my North Carolina teaching license.

Overall Experience: My internship prospects are very good. In the fall, I will student teach at a middle school in Western North Carolina, most likely in Buncombe County. We will receive our assignments by the beginning of summer. However, I am not sure about my job prospects. Teaching is very competitive in NC, and even more so in my content area (social studies). Hopefully having a Grad Cert, an NC teaching license, and graduating from an area school will help me.

Overall Experience: So far, I am happy with choosing App State for my graduate studies. I have awesome professors and the workload is manageable. I have learned a lot about middle school teaching and feel confident that I will have learned enough to effectively student teach in the fall.

Athletics: App has great athletics for the size of the school. Club sports are also widely available. Physical education classes can me hard to get into, but there is a wide variety available.

Overall Experience: Appalachian State has a variety of opportunities both academically and socially. The overall atmosphere isn't quite as intellectual as I would like, but I think it's probably perfect for a lot of people.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The student service desk has always been inviting and helpful. The students seem to be encouraged to be successful.

Greek Life: I'm not personally involved in Greek life, so I can't personally say anything about it. However, I have friends that are involved, and I know that it has been a great opportunity for time.

Athletics: I have attended athletic events on campus, but I feel that they could be a "bigger deal." Some of the events would be a lot more fun and I'd be more likely to attend them if they were uplifted a little more.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love Appalachian State, and I feel that my freshman year has been so beneficial to me and my future. Not only have I gained an education, but I've also gained life skills and maturity through the college experience.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: They have free self deviance classes and buttons all around to push if in trouble.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: They should really reconsider who is hired because some professors are bad but overall the professors care and are good.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It is hard to get a job on campus but possible.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I had one of the best freshman dorms.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The Football games are the best

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It has been an amazing experience with great opportunities. The location and the people are the best part.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I generally feel safe on campus. Only once I've felt uncomfortable, and it's only because I was walking in the dark and there was a group of people that stopped talking when I walked by. That uncomfortable feeling soon dissapated after I got closer to my dorm

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: This is the best school I could have gone to. It's a perfect fit for my needs and goals

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I really enjoy the dorm that I was put in this year, Hoey Hall. I do wish, however, that the lottery process was more explicitly explained. I had no idea how it worked

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: As someone not affiliated with the greek life on our campus, I don't really have much to say about it. I have a friend who is in a sorority and she absolutely loves it, I'm glad that she found a group of girls that she fits in with so well

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Athletics is a huge priority at App State. School spirit is incredibly high, and you can see that at our football games. The gyms available for nonathletes are clean and well equipped

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I am absolutely in love with my school. It's in a beautiful location and I've made several great friends. There are plenty of amazing opportunities wherever you look

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: they could have more apartment student housing options but overall its good housing.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Don't know about greek life, I've never tried to join or go to any parties.
