3 College Freshman

Administration: Pretty strict about things going on in the dorms.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: A lot of variety compared to other schools.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Not too bad. Just like a basic dorm. Social atmosphere is great.

College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I have a boyfriend so i didn't really partake in this.

2 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Our health services are absolutely ridiculous. No one knows what they are talking about and give wrong diagnosis all the time.

College Freshman

Athletics: I didn't really attend any games so I really have nothing to say

Greek Life: Because I am part of the greek system I think it is great, but everyone has a very bad attitude toward greek people in general.

Off-Campus Housing: Everything is very expensive and fills up so quickly because so many students want to live off campus.

Off-Campus Dining: I love all of the food options in boone and I like the small mom and pop places.

College Freshman

Party Scene: I never attended a party while at Appalachian state during my first year so I can't rate them because I have no information about them.

3 College Freshman

Administration: I don't mind campus police but they like to give tickets if you are one mile over the speed limit. Also, I had the worst RA ever. He really put a damper on my first year as a college student living in a dorm.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got a lot of grants from Appalachian based on merit and need so I was very pleased.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: For the amount of money I am paying for this food I expect a lot better.

Campus Housing: It was ok. Most of the dorms are very very small and I would not want to ever live on campus again.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is great if you want to live in an apartment. Apartments range from $400 to over $600 but it's easy to find one to suit you. If you're looking for a house it's much harder and prices are probably more expensive.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are TONS of off-campus dining places! King street is full of all different options and all through out Boone there are locally owned and chain restuarants.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: The party scene is great if you know people. Boys won't get into frat parties, bar lines are long, and other than that random apartments or house parties are great. My personal favorite: track team parties.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Personally, I found campus strictness to not effect me at all. I never had a problem following the rules. They sound like a lot at first but it's super easy to follow them and no one is "out to get you".

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial aid is confusing but appalnet gives you good hints on what you have left to submit. Also, appalnet gives you alot of information on how much you earned, how much you owe, and whether you want to accept or not.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I found the dining halls to be actually very good. I enjoyed eating there and there is a wide variety of foods to choose from. As long as you don't eat the same thing everyday then the food doesn't get tiresome. McAllisters is ALWAYS a good idea, until you get low on meal plan money.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is perfect. Everything from dining halls, residencies, classes, and local shopping is all in walking distance. Everyone is accepted here and whether your enoing or studying people are supportive. The housing process is super easy and most of the time all your wishes are granted.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The career services are a great resource and the alumni network is strong.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: We had a lot of sexual assaults occur during the 2014-2015 school year, and they weren't very transparent with the consequences.

3 College Freshman

Academics: There are passionate professors, but the cirriculum isn't all that great. First year seminar classes don't really help prepare you for anything, and are more of just a filler class. Many people study in the library, and you can book rooms for up to 4 hours.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Being a physics major with a concentration in astronomy is tough, but the department is very small and therefore close-knit so there is a lot of support among the students. It's recommended to try and do research your freshman year, because professors love to have their research students all 4 years. The workload is pretty heavy, but it helps!
