Off-Campus Housing: L.A. Is Expensive – No housing. Adults usually work and attend school.

Majors: Internships Are Everything – Internships are a huge part of acquiring a Master's degree in psychology because a total of 3000 hours are required for licensing. It all starts with a trainee-ship; Antioch has partnered with a great variety of reputable non-profit organizations to provide training opportunities. After the training period, Antioch will assist in finding students internship opportunities. Most internships are unpaid, but some students do find organizations that will pay during the internship period. I have not yet started my trainee-ship or internship, but have begun reaching out to the non-profits providing to me by Antioch and working with a faculty member who works solely to pair students with opportunities and assist in the process.

Guys & Girls: Guys and girls at Antioch are a great sampling of what Los Angeles is like- diverse! We have men and women from every cultural background, sexual orientation, age, and economic background because Antioch is a very progressive school that reflects the heart of L.A. Many adults come to Antioch's graduate school programs because of the flexible schedule, so often you will meet adult men and women in their 30's and even 40's. Most are 20-something grungy L.A. guys and girls who live and breathe the L.A. fashion and music scene. Very attractive and always wearing black. My little brother visited the area around my campus and said that everyone looks like they are in the Rolling Stones.

Transportation: I have traveled to many major cities in my lifetime: New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Portland- all have offered incredibly convenient and sophisticated transportation options. San Francisco's BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and Seattle's light rail system have trains running as frequently as every 7 minutes. Los Angeles, arguably one of the most incredible, diverse, beautiful major metropolitan areas in the world has a transportation system that does not serve Angelenos as well as it could or should. The Metro Rail system, consisting of train links and bus systems, could be vastly improved to serve college students at Antioch Los Angeles. Located on a slight hill, which can make bicycling difficult for students. The vast majority of students drive personal vehicles to and from school. Los Angeles, however, is always seeking to improve its transportation options and, depending on where a student is commuting to and from, can often arrange for a carpool with fellow students or use the Metro Link system.

Overall Experience: So Far, So Good – This is a non-traditional program and for the most part I love it. I would say its biggest drawback is also one of its strengths - people can do this program from anywhere in the world, and do. But there tends to be a lack of camaraderie because we, only see one another twice a year. We do interact regularly by email. The school really encourages us to form bonds, but in the end it's up to the people. Last term I had a class with a great group; this term it is much less like being in a class than it is like being alone. So really it's dependent on your fellow students.

Diversity: For the small population of students, there were people represented from many different countries and walks of life

Technology: AULA Computer – Computer lab is not the largest, but the ability to print is limitless and free. Huge advantage.

Off-Campus Dining: Antioch Cuisine – Tons of different options. School is right next to Fox Hills mall and Howard Hugh's Center. Food from typical fast food spots to Mexican Food to Asian Cuisine to donuts, smoothies, and anything else you could have a taste for. Not to mention there are two diner's on campus

Campus Quality: The campus is housed in a corporate office building. The place feels like a corporate building, not a school. The library is a single small office-side room, nothing like a real university ~Especially with the inflated cost of tuition for the program(s).

Administration: I Had a Great Experience! Although occasionally I ran into road blocks put up by certain staff members with messed up priorities, I got a TON of support for my many projects and events and things. I became a big leader at my school in that way. I would say that if you approach the faculty with humor, grace, and confidence, they will listen to you.

Diversity: In addition to the LGBT Specialty studies in the MA in Psychology program, there is out gay and transgendered faculty, staff and students. The student body is very small... only around 700 students in all programs combined, and there are many different cultural and ethnic groups represented. There is a lovely microcosm there.

Off-Campus Dining: Fairly Decent Local Eats – First, there are two cafes on campus, and both are reasonably priced with fair to middling food and nice service. Down the street a little is the Symantec cafeteria, which is open to the public and has a huge variety of mostly delicious food. It can take a long time occasionally, but it's well priced and the portions are good. These can all be walked to. Anything else requires wheels, unless you care to walk about 1/2 mile or so to the Fox Hills Mall, or the little strip mall in the other direction.

Weather: The weather can be cool and a sweater does just fine.
