3 College Junior

Student Body: the students at Antelope Valley college are very negative. Most of the students that i have come a crross talk about negative obstacles within attending Antelope Valley college.

3 College Junior

Career Services: The grade rate is an A- because they don't really offer jobs. Most of the students receive a associates degree cant get any good networking for their career.

College Sophomore

Career Services: Haven't Finished School Yet – I have not graduated at this time abd have not gone to the career center.

College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Nothing Unique – I didn't really see anything that sets this school apart.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Facilities Could Be Better – The student center does not really offer anything for those times you are in between classes. The cafeteria does not sell coffee anymore which is sometimes needed before a class. The library is not that comfortable for studying.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Network Has a Couple Issues – The computer network works fine. It seems better to use it at the Lancaster campus because the Palmdale campus does not have enough computers and their network does not work as well.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Good Resources and Availability – The resources at AVC are really good. We have access to computers, music instruments, books, etc. Also, the college offers workshops that help students with reading, writing, listening, note-taking, math and much more. Sometimes is hard to access some of these resouces but it's minor.Besides that, everything is good.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Awesome Experience Throughout – The classes at the AVC are pretty fun and interesting. Professors really know what they are doing, or at least most of them. Everything in the college has made my experience and awesome one.

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: I don't think that the career services are bad but they're not the best either. I think that the school counselors are more helpful in advising us for our work choices at the Antelope Valley, and besides, they seems to take more interest.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: Be Early and Prepare – Getting financial aid can be pretty stressful at AVC. The department is always full. For this reason, it is better to be there really early and with all the documentation or information ready to go. The courses are really expensive but I think that everything is worth it.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Good Enough to Be Happy – I'm really happy with my college experience. Some classes have not been the greatest but I learned how to handle with everything due to my past experiences. Besides, I have loved most of my classes, and I feel awesome.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: Eye-Sore Campus – As far as the look of the campus, I have seen grade schools that look more attractive than the AVC campus. However, as of this year, the college has made improvements to the campus with the addition of a new building that gives the students the an atmosphere resembling a university, as opposed to a mere community college.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: Good Access to All Resources – As far as I'm concerned, the campus resources are all up to par. I don't use the campus computer in high frequency, however from what I have seen, the students have easy access to computers in the lab despite the overcrowded campus.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Difficult to Get in the Program – My major, Registered Nursing, is a highly popular choice of major at AVC. This makes it very competitive when it comes to applying for and gaining entry into the nursing program. However, if you are able to get into the program you will have entered a great situation as AVC, I'm told, has one of the best community college nursing programs in California.

Academic Experience: Professors and Curriculum Nothing Special – In terms of the professors, out of my own experiences, they typically do not invest much interest in their students. The majority of them don't appear to care whether or not the students pass or fail just as long as they receive payment for their time. Only on one occasion did I have a professor that invested the time and effort to ensure that a student gives their best effort to receive a passing grade, while at the same time having ensured that the students learn enough in the class that they may use what they had learned in real life situations. As for the curriculum, it is lackluster and does not seem to force the students to learn the material, instead students need only memorize the material momentarily for tests and other assignments.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Different Reasons – The network at my school goes down sometimes and often they don't have enough computers for everybody and you have to wait. Also, they charge you to make copies.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: Large Variety of People – At my school, there are many different types of people. A lot of freshman straight from high school, or just people who came from a high school in the valley. There are also those older people looking to get more education to better their life.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: The campus has everything we need with many places to get the help one needs. It is a great and resourceful community.

4 College Senior

Career Services: The career center is a great help and although it is at times difficult to get some attention because it is so busy, when you do get to the front of the line you get immense and supportive help.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: Very Very Nice – the tuition is very cheap and financial aid tends to cover all classes and books

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Engineering Classes Limited – As a student seeking a bachelors degree I have an easy time finding general Ed classes but major specific courses are a lot harder to get into or don't exist because this is just a community college.

1 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: Not Many Classes – My school has so many people trying to attend certain classes that if u are not on the priority enrollment list you probably will not get into the classes that you need. this semester I am taking pretty random classes so that nest semester i will be priority.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Medical Center – They are opening a new medical clinic for students. i think this is awesome for people who do not have insurance. Yet they are making every student pay a $19 fee with enrollment. I have insurance and a good doctor I like so I will not use this service and do not think i should have to pay.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: There is always a huge line at financial aid. Sometimes they only have one person working there when there should always be three.

1 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The price of the classes and tuition are going up but we are getting money for financial aid. How do they expect for us to go to school is we don't get the right amount funds we need. Many people aren't lucky as other people that they are to pay there expenses because of there parents having money.
