Overall Experience: Anoka Tech seems to account for all types of students

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Anoka Tech really does a good job with getting you set up for college.

Student Body: The student body is truly diverse in this campus.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Post secondary education is expensive enough as it is. I wish the government would stop their frivolous, unnecessary spending and invest more in post secondary education.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: They seem to offer a diverse range of programs.

Campus Resources: The campus itself makes it clear on the services it provides to students.

1 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: None of my credits transferred because my prior school was non credited college. Though I spent 2 years in a Microsoft Office User Specialist program, all my credits there were useless.

After trying to speak to someone that could help with my issues with one instructor, I was informed to work it out with her. I tried, there is nothing to work out when they continue to fall behind and not do with they promise.

Overall Experience: I am 38 years old, I have 2 years of prior college shortly after high school and this is the worst. I have thrown more money away with student loans than I will ever receive back in quality education. It feels like this is a fly by night school, though I know it is not. The instructors are rather uneducated and successful at teaching. The administration at the school are clueless in their work ethics.

If I would do all over again, I would pay 4 times the amount and go to Minnesota School of Business. But, now that I have so much money invested, I have a family to feed and I am not getting any younger, I have to suck it up and do what I can. I can not afford to go somewhere else and pay for it again. I feel this school should be evaluated, and the instructors, well a few should be replaced. The College needs to be up to date with their course work.

Overall Experience: I do have to say, one counselor and two instructors are the only people I have encountered that were helpful. My instructors that were in English and in Keyboarding, are the most caring and intelligent people I have encountered on campus.

The campus is dirty and disgusting. There is no reason a bathroom should be left in such filth, and the hallways are rather disgusting as well.

The school needs to offer more business related courses during the day or online. Right now, they stated the business courses are at night, since most people work during the day. I find their remarks to be rather vague and untrue.

Overall Experience: Like everything I have experienced with this college is well below any other college I have been active in. I do feel as if they could benefit by hiring some professional people to run the school like it should be.

3 College Freshman

Online Courses: I have a mixture of classroom and online courses. I relate better to online, rather than in class. This is due to the instructors providing quality learning and understand in the classroom, in which a few lack. It is easier for me to "teach" myself online. For instance, they must be able to return the assignment with a grade in a well respected time frame. Which, one instructor is horrible at. I believe there is no reason not to have our assignments graded when the course is almost over. How are the students suppose to know if they are actually completing the course material correctly?

4 College Freshman

Student Body: From what I have experienced, they seem to have a good foundation at the school.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Like with anything at the College, it is ran by students. Uneducated students that are left to figure their way out. I feel a department as such, should not be ran by just anyone. They should have a knowledge of loans, banking, finance and have excellent manners. The people who work in this department, stand around hoping someone else will have an answer. There is NO reason a student should have to make 3 trips from the financial aid office, to the book store and then find out all that was needed was to electronically sign something online. That instance took me 2 days. Mind you, I love 45 minutes away and had not yet started school.

Career Services: I have not encounter any of the above areas. Though, we did have a guest speaker come into the college and speak about new hires and his company. I found the man to be uneducated and he ran a company that basically was the fly by night employer that did not care about his help. I responded to his talk with questions and he got frustrated and basically told me enough questions. Prior to my starting college, I owned a family business, I was well aware of the employers that did the continuous hiring. They would place signs out, hire recruiters and just recycle their employee's like they were a piece of paper.

Academic Experience: My first semester was the best. I received an overwhelming response for the professors and had a rather nice experience. My first semester included classes such as; Math, English, Intro to Computers and Keyboarding. Though I already had an enormous amount of knowledge in the computer aspects, I decided more would not hurt and cold help me as I enter the college world. The academic advisor I had was very helpful. She was available all hours, well within the normal hours. She was helpful and resourceful. I was looking to transfer to the Community College do to their programs they had and I found out my credit did not transfer. Anoka Community College told me that the school I was attending was way behind in technology and programs, that my credits did not transfer. Well, I was really surprised. I felt like I just throw my money and time away, though I was on the Presidents honor roll that semester. I decided to "suck it up" and try to make the best out of it. I was not going to throw my money away, though I already have.

During my fall semester, I realized I had made the biggest mistake by returning to the college. My advisor was not very helpful, she was rather worthless. She was my professor for a few courses and basically "laughed" at me when I was struggling. She was no use in helping me understand the class. With that being said, I was a staff accountant for 3 years and I thought I knew well enough of what I was learning. In her process of teaching she talked so fast she made several mistakes and laughed about them. She responded to my concerns with, "well, all you need is a "D" to pass my course. I felt like she could care less about my academic career. I struggled to get through her classes as she did not return assignments or graded tests back to us. Therefore, I did not have a clue on what I did wrong nor how to correct my mistakes so I could understand. As I brought all my concerns up to her, she increasingly just blew me off.

Academic Experience: The administration is lacking proper knowledge on what the school offers. I believe the school is way behind on their curriculum and has the mentality of "get them in and get them out". They do not care if the student excels, and has an understanding of what they are learning.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: I have found the library being extremely resourceful in my academic history. The campus is equipped with up to date technology, though the down fall is the student they hire are rather not familiar with the computers, programs and/or the copiers. Thus, with that being said, it does make it hard for the student's that do have issues, to get their issues resolved without frustration and hassle.

The admissions office is ran by fellow students that are not familiar with courses, or non- the- less the basics of college entry.

Academic Flexibility: This school has so many options when it comes to programs and seeking help no matter what kind of help the student is seeking. The only thing that has been a very slight frustration is having fewer selections when it comes to class scheduling options. They do offer morning, evening, weekend and online, which is great. But working full time it was sometimes hard to rearrange my work schedule to fit my class schedule. But my work has been working well with me so I've been able to figure it out for every semester. This was the only slight difficulty I came across and was well worth it to be able to stay at this great school!

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: This school is amazing for so many reasons. It helps that it is located close to both work and school so it saves me on traveling expenses. There is such a wide variety of programs that all have such dedicated and passionate teachers. Sometimes it's all about the teacher when you succeed in a class. If you have a passionate teacher who loves what they do and try hard to help every student succeed it makes it easier as a student to go to class and make it a priority and dedicate yourself vs going to a class with a teacher who is monotone, boring/uninterested in their own topic and unavailable for students to reach out to. Love this school, my program and my professors!

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: So many different programs and the teachers are excellent and very dedicated! The class sizes are perfect and the quality of the courses are phenomenal! I've never had such dedicated professors that are passionate about what they do and genuinely care about each student's success! And because you are in a particular program that you choose you find yourself with dedicated and hardworking students as well!

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Anoka technical college has many opportunities for students and graduates. It has a very high success rate for graduates and also for job placement. They have career fairs held on campus, a job board laying job openings and staff to help you create a resume, practice interviews, and to find jobs!

4 College Junior

Online Courses: For majority of my online class experience has been great. The teachers are great very helpful and organized and their classes are ram smoothly and ready to understand what is expected of us as students!

4 College Junior

Student Body: There is such diversity in this school and even among individual classes which I never really had before. But it's great because everyone is friendly and outgoing and helpful and if you step out of your bubble you may find a great study buddy and can make some great friends!
