4 College Junior

Campus Quality: There is always room for improvement, however, ASU is a state of the art facility and very well maintained

3 College Junior

Local Area: Safe, easy transport and secure. Little night life

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are only clubs in the city and they are extremely close to campus: Club 84 and Midnight Rodeo. There is always a few parties going on every weekend either at the local apartments most students stay at or at the houses some upper grad Greek students occupy! If you like parties or socializing you just have to know the right people to find the right places to go. For the older individuals there are a number of bars enjoyed by the towns people.

Administration: My school is very strict on parking violations and although many students get annoyed, the rules have protected many of us from vandalism and provided better security. Academically Angelo State places grade requirements when participating in certain organizations and if grade points drops consequences will be start. This school makes sure that's it's students reach their potential by being strict and requiring the most.

Local Area: San Angelo is a small town so you won't find many of the main stream restaurants however the mom and pop shops will hit the spot like no other. The people in the town are calm and friendly and the safety levels are consistent to a small town feel. There is a shopping mall with some popular stores and if you are itching for more the next mall is less than an hour out.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: there are tones of apartments around san angelo. most of them are a resonable price others are a little bit higher. most of the apartments are real easy to get into even if it is your first time renting an apartment and some usually ask for a co-signer.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: he Financial Aid office is preety efficiant and always gets the situations done and taken care of. Getting financial aid is an easy process once you know what to do. the office usually gives you verything you need to know and do to get things taken care of and not having to run around and try to figure things out.

5 College Junior

Campus Food: The places are very convient for both side of the campus depending on the locations of where the students are located. there are lots of chocies students can choose from. Very clean and well kept for people to be around. the buffets are always fresh and the food is always made daily something different.

College Junior

Transportation: Angelo State University doesn't provide transportation for students. there are designated areas where students are assigned to park. The only transportation the school provides is for students and parents intrested in attending ASU and they tour them around on Golf Carts.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Being a Biology major at ASU is very tough, but they have one of the highest ratings when it comes to our Biology department. Some students with other majors rarely have homework while I have homework practically everyday and loads of studying. It's hard to maintain really good grades and keep a high social life but I love it still and will stick it out.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are not that many options on campus but the food was not bad at all. Of course people would get tired of the same food over and over. Rosco's Den is really good but it's not part of the meal plan. The cafeteria usually has the same thing everyday as well as the UC of ASU. I personally liked it because I wouldn't use my own money and I love food period and can eat the same thing over and over for quite awhile.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The Plaza Verde Dorms were the best of the best! It's close to many things such as some classes, cafeteria, other dorms, and near where many events were hosted! I enjoyed my stay and met many friends while living there. There were some problems of course such as the air being off for days and it would get really hot and unenjoyable to sleep in.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: I've seen many ethnical and racial diversity among ASU. We are a school mostly consisting of Hispanics and Caucasians, but this past year we had many Koreans enter the school. I enjoyed it and even made a couple of friends. It expanded the school in people's types of religion and languages! There are also African Americans, Indians, and Chinese. Of course there could be many more from other parts of the world. ASU is open to all and that's what makes it so appealing, accepting, and enjoyable.

5 College Sophomore

Local Area: San Angelo itself is a wonderful town with so much beauty. The university is wonderful!

4 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather is mostly sunny and a nice breeze. Almost everybody walks to their classes and around campus.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: The facilities are very good. Campus is always clean and well kept. The library is well organized and the staff is very helpful. The workout facility is extensive and has many different things to do.

4 College Junior

Majors: I have been satisfied with my chosen major. Though I wish that they would work with other departments so that advanced classes could be taken from multiple majors. Have been very happy with faculty support of students doing outside research to extend our knowledge and experience.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus is relatively expensive. There are nicer places but they are far away and quiet expensive. The options close to campus are very run down.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: The dining is pretty good. There is always a wide assortment. Often they have options that are cooked right in front of you. The cafeteria staff are very flexible, they will even make up sack lunches if you arrange it ahead of time for the students to take if they can't get to the dining hall in time.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The freshman have better housing options than returning students. Returning students kind of get the lesser dorms.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: On campus food is not always the best but the distance of eating off campus without a vehicle is too far.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: The actual Greek life isn't the problem it's the ppl in it! Some students get the higher than thou complex when they really have no right! Greek parties are always fun though.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The girls at this school are mostly in cliches before it starts. If you aren't into partying you will stick out and be outcasted like me! There are a bunch of intelligent students and a lot of ones who test the boundaries of fashion! You are always seeing the same ppl so don't make too many enemies

Health & Safety: The ASU police station is literally 30 seconds off campus. There are cops always posted or circling the parking areas and make my car feel safe. Around campus there are alert buttons to push in emergency and they are posted along the walk ways! We are always getting alerts on the current safety conditions

4 College Junior

Local Area: Some stuff to do off campus, but could add more non-alcoholic venues to the mix.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Angelo State University, and San Angelo by extension, has a small, friendly feel. In addition to a standard choice of majors, ASU offers many programs throughout the semester for entertainment, and there is a club for everyone if a student does some digging. No matter what taste a student has, there will be a club of like-minded people, and overall, people are generally accepting of each other, even if they disagree with them.

The city has all the comforts of a larger city with the feel of a small town. There is very little to be left wanting when at ASU or in San Angelo. However, students that come from larger metropolitan areas may find the small size on the boring side due to minimal variety. On the flip side, students coming from rural ares are likely to love having things to do without a long drive. A few students dislike the area, and a few students love it, but overall, many are happy with the choice to come to ASU.
