Local Area: San Angelo is a small city which makes it hard to fit if one is diferente from the rest.

Administration: The school is strict about important topics. Anyone caught with drugs or alcohol in the dorms will be reprimanded. However, visitation hours are fairly lenient as long as you are not causing a disturbance. They know we are college students, and they expect some rowdiness. Overall, they are really only strict when they need to be.

Diversity: This is the most racially diverse school I have been to. Growing up in a small town in Maine, I hadn't been subjected to this very much. But it doesn't bother me of course. The economic background varies. Some people have money, and it is obvious. Some people don't but they get the financial help they deserve. The school really worked with me the first year I was there to get the finances I needed. Not so much after that. Political beliefs and religious backgrounds are pretty standard for the school's spot in the Bible Belt. I never quite fit in with these, and don't often give my opinion on the subjects because I will hear a lot about it. But almost everyone there are republican conservatives and Christian. I don't mind, I just don't like having other peoples beliefs shoved down my throat. I'm more of a conversationalist. As for sexual orientation, given it's position in the Bible Belt, most people are straight. I have met quite a few who are very against my homosexual friends, but I will always stand up for them. But, that being said, most people I know there who are gay or bi don't often flaunt it.

Majors: I am not concerned about finding a job in my field. However, if I were to do it again, I would not have attended this university to accomplish my goals.

Majors: I did not have any problems getting into either of my programs. It is not a challenging school to get into, which was important to me at one point. But now I am looking to go somewhere larger and better known.

Off-Campus Housing: Angelo Place and The Grove would be the main "college" apartments here in Angelo. There are some other good apartments here. Both Angelo Place and Grove are decently priced.

Overall Experience: I love the town. It's a relatively small town but it's very welcoming. It's just the right size. I like the size of campus, doesn't take but ten or less minutes to get across campus.

Scholarships: The financial aid process was relatively easy, just very stressful.

Health & Safety: I've never felt unsafe on campus. I feel like a see a couple campus security workers a day so that also helps with feelings of safety.

Greek Life: The Greek Life here is really nothing special. They don't do a whole lot for the community except maybe like three things a year. The sororities here are just looked at as "wanna-be's" and the frats are just mediocre.

Academics: ASU has a really good selection to choose from for majors. We also have a really good nursing program with teachers that are willing to help as long as you show up and do what is asked of you. It all depends on the class you take for the professor and work load.

Campus Housing: Living on campus really helped you meet people. Plaza Verde is the newest and pretty good dorm, very good location. But Texan is probably the best on to live in.

Angelo State University, and San Angelo by extension, has a small, friendly feel. In addition to a standard choice of majors, ASU offers many programs throughout the semester for entertainment, and there is a club for everyone if a student does some digging. No matter what taste a student has, there will be a club of like-minded people, and overall, people are generally accepting of each other, even if they disagree with them.

The city has all the comforts of a larger city with the feel of a small town. There is very little to be left wanting when at ASU or in San Angelo. However, students that come from larger metropolitan areas may find the small size on the boring side due to minimal variety. On the flip side, students coming from rural ares are likely to love having things to do without a long drive. A few students dislike the area, and a few students love it, but overall, many are happy with the choice to come to ASU.
