5 College Junior

Transportation: There is a lot of public transportation. Metro and cabs can get you all over the city. There are a few close airports. Parking is a little expensive if you bring a car but worth it. There is a bus that can take you from campus to the closest metro stop and it is convenient.

Hands down, D.C. is celebrated by students as one of the easiest cities to get around. The Metro, one of the cleanest and most efficient subway systems in the nation, runs through D.C. and even into parts of Virginia and Maryland. Students at AU praise the Metro for its ease, convenience, and proximity to campus. They are able to visit other neighborhoods and get around town both quickly and inexpensively.

The Tenleytown Metro stop is the closest to AU, and a short shuttle ride from campus to the stop links students to the entire D.C. area. With such an extensive Metro system, public transportation is definitely the preferred method of transportation among American University students.
