3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It is a typically college campus. However, the meals are extremely expensive.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Not much variety, and hours are weird. Go for Freshii and Einstein's. Avoid TDR at all costs.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I am a vegetarian and really, really like eating healthy food. For me, Freshii was always the best option. However, they were usually out of tofu or falafel, which was super irritating. I ate at TDR a bit, but then stopped going second semester. It was just kind of time consuming and I got tired of the food. However, they do make a good effort to offer a variety. Ultimately timing is everything.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Compared to all the college campuses I've been to, I think AU has great choices and its really good. Dining Hall and Global fresh changes a lot. The Tavern is very delicious but sometimes its the easiest thing to get but its unhealthy. I feel we have a lot of variety, except Asian Flavors is not good but I would love Chinese food on campus.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Campus food is alright. Like on any college campus, there is only so much to choose from, and boredom is inevitable. TDR isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.... yet can be awful at times. TDR and the tavern, etc can all be super busy in the afternoon and dinner, so finding spots to eat can be tough. Over all what is the worst is that there are so few healthy options, and although there's some gluten-free stuff in TDR, I really feel bad for you if you're vegan, you'll be totally screwed. At AU, it's the freshmen 15, and then some... thanks, Starbucks.

There are several places to eat at on the American University campus. The most popular is TDR (Terrace Dining Room), which is a large cafeteria on AU's main campus. AU's satellite campus also has a smaller cafeteria commonly known as TC (Tenley Café). Both feature vegetarian options, ethnic cuisine, salad and sandwich bars, pizza, pasta, burgers, hot dogs, and featured hot lunches and dinners of the day. And don't forget dessert—there are always unlimited amounts of cookies, cake, ice cream, and frozen yogurt. Most students say that the food is of average quality, with the biggest complaint being that the food is always the same.

There are other options for those seeking variety; AU has a Subway and McDonald's as well as an on-campus convenience store (Eagle’s Nest). The Tavern has several concession stands that offer a wide range of choices including sushi, quesadillas, sandwiches, fries, chicken fingers, etc. For students who do not desire to eat on campus, there are many restaurants in nearby Tenleytown.
