2 College Sophomore

Athletics: We have a good basketball team, but no one really cares about sports.

4 College Senior

Athletics: Gym memberships are free at AU and all of the facilities are modern and beautifully renovated. It's easy to get there from anywhere on campus! AU also offers semester class passes for $7 a class or $75 unlimited. The classes are amazing and offer everything from kettle bell exercises to cycling!

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Our teams are pretty good but no one goes to any games. There's little school spirit when it comes to sports. The club teams are generally small as well. Our gym is really nice, but it's relatively small and you're lucky if you find an open treadmill.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Honestly, most people don't pay attention to sports and it's not a big part of campus life. At AU, politics is our sport and students are more likely to watch debates than football matches.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are different groups that support the athletics teams and they technically become cheerleaders. Anyone can join so it is very diverse. Almost all the varsity abs intramural teams require try outs so it can be competitive but at the same time, very welcoming to beginners. The facilities include 3 different gyms for work outs, swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball field, inside court, etc. All the facilities are beautiful and well kept.

Though the sports teams are Division I, and there are several intramural teams, sports do not receive the attention and notoriety that they would at some other schools. Many of the bigger sports fans on campus complain about the absence of a football team. AU is not a school where athletes receive celebrity-like attention or preferential treatment. While a football team is often the focal point of college life, there are many other ways to get involved at AU.

Some students are trying to get their peers more excited—a club known as the Blue Crew goes "all out" at the games, painting their faces and coming up with their own cheers. Basketball and volleyball are popular sports, and in the rare instance where a game is being televised, the turnout is better than usual.
