3 College Junior

Athletics: I know more people involved in club sports than varsity. Varsity athletes are kind of off in their own little world, however if you're interested in sports without the commitment, there are plenty of club sports to satisfy those needs!

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: No school spirit. No one attends games. Basketball games are slightly fun though.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are always games to attend throughout the semesters that are open to all students. There is a large support form the student population as well

3 College Senior

Athletics: Athletics aren't a huge part of this university, but the facilities are still good

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: there is no school spirit, mainly because we don't have a football team nor good sports

Though the sports teams are Division I, and there are several intramural teams, sports do not receive the attention and notoriety that they would at some other schools. Many of the bigger sports fans on campus complain about the absence of a football team. AU is not a school where athletes receive celebrity-like attention or preferential treatment. While a football team is often the focal point of college life, there are many other ways to get involved at AU.

Some students are trying to get their peers more excited—a club known as the Blue Crew goes "all out" at the games, painting their faces and coming up with their own cheers. Basketball and volleyball are popular sports, and in the rare instance where a game is being televised, the turnout is better than usual.
