Facts & Statistics

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Don't be afraid of the French people; some of them are pretty cool.
  • It's important to look at the metro maps.
  • Listen to the latest European music (and some of the French classics), and watch some French movies.
  • Money goes faster than you plan it to (as a first-semester freshman).
  • Paris seems huge, but really, it's not that difficult to get from place to place. The districts are arranged in such a way that you can go through the 8eme to the 1eme and totally pass the 7eme without even realizing it.
  • The metro closes at 12 a.m. during the week and 2 a.m. on the weekends.
  • Try to brush up on your French before coming to Paris-not necessary, but unbelievably helpful.
  • When you say you won't stay out that late or go out tonight, you always will.
  • You really don't need that many clothes for a semester.
  • You'll meet the most interesting people, so be open to differences.
