Student Body: I Feel Sexually Harrassed, Constantly. I have been at my school for a year and a half now. I have met some really cool people and have befriended a few. Very diverse in ethnicity, economical, political, religious, etc. Unfortunately, I'm overwhelmed with the feeling of being sexually harassed. Majorly occurring inside and outside the library. This school has a great library. It's three story, roof access, lots of resources, etc. But I've met a couple of weirdos on the elevator, whom have asked for my number and after a polite, "No thank you", they keep asking and asking. I've been followed out of the library and to my car. This makes me uncomfortable and does not COMPARE to how angry I feel when I exit the library. Almost EVERYDAY last semester, when I leave the library there are many groups of black guys(I say this purely for description purposes; I'm not racist and this definitely does not apply to everyone in this ethnicity), that gawk at me, look me up and down, blatantly stare at me as they lick their lips. These men say all kinds of things that are uncalled for. It disgusts me and angers me to the point I can't even study for the rest of the day.

Academic Flexibility: Not Have Priority Registration Is Horrible – There may be a lot of flexibility, in that there are many classes in mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Also, there are classes available on the weekends and online. Unfortunately, if you have less that 30 units, are not handicapped, and are not involved in playing sports, then you most likely will have HORRIBLE registration dates. This means you will NOT have a decent schedule. The first year and a half, I had to suffer with driving all the way to school every day of the week or I had classes in the mornings and nights, on the same day, with 5 hours breaks in between. There was also a semester that I had to take Friday and Saturday classes; as well as an entire semester online! It's just the worst feeling; planning your classes and then watching them fill up before you can even enroll.

Now that I have 33 completed units, I FINALLY have good registration times and have an awesome schedule this coming semester.

Academic Experience: Class Registration – Getting in to the classes the you need is really hard. You always end up taking classes or any at all because the classes are full by the time you have to register.

2 College Freshman

Student Body: Not Much – There aren't a lot of clubs on campus. But their horticulture program is very popular.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Different Tutoring Programs – There are some tutoring programs that I've heard that help you out with writing essays for english or social sciences. It's somewhat like a class where you recieve half a unit for taking it.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: You Get Want You Pay for – Even though they have increased tuition, it is nothing like the general education one has to pay for universities. Besides the majority of people smoking the campus is nice. I'm only here to get a education without having to pay off students loans for the rest of my life. I'm quite satisfied with my experience.

Academic Flexibility: Everything Is Balanced – The classes and curriculum are relatively flexible at this school. I've never really had trouble, but it is important to be on time with turning in forms. Never put enrollment forms off for another time or day. Most credits transfer. Nothing is amazing, but nothing is bad. It is definitely on the higher end though.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Great Education With a Slight Downside That Can Be Overlooked – The education this school offers for what you pay for is wonderful. It is definitely worth your money! Classes are challenging, but not pointlessly difficult. However, the financial aid office is not as helpful as I had hoped. This does not mean they are bad. Overall, this is a great community college as long as you are willing to work and take responsibility-I recommend it to everyone!

Academic Experience: Good Teachers – There are some really good teachers here, at least compared to other community colleges in the area.

Overall Experience: American River College is a great school! The teachers know what they are doing, they don't beat around the bush when it comes to working hard, they are all about learning and getting what needs to be done handled with, and they also like to have fun too. American River is a very relaxing place, people are always seen around school walking to their classes or where ever they need to go talking in a low roar. There is never a need to hurry around school(unless you're late for class). I would definitely give this school an A because everyone is there to get in and get their General Education out of the way, and get out. Everyone is really nice and very helpfull. I don't have anything bad to say about this school except that the homework load can get a little heavy depending upon which classes you take. I am very happy with my school and would go here again.

Academic Experience: Professors Were Involved – My teachers were excellent. They took the time to make sure each student was not falling through the cracks. They were eloquent and had engaging lectures. I learned a lot from them.

3 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is accessible for the majority of students. However, the financial aid office is always busy and there is no time to ask questions or express doubts you have because there is always a 20 people line behind you. You always go home with doubts and you have to look for answers somewhere else.

Campus Resources: Social Scene – The academic programs are good but overwhelmed by so many students trying to get in. The campus life is somewhat nonexistent. It would be better if they have more activities for students and offer internships or work experience programs.

Overall Experience: I enjoy going to my school. Classes are available for a low price and professors are good. I have attended some school events and are of high quality and low cost. I'm happy for choosing this school.

Campus Resources: Special Programs – One of the things that's special about my school is a program called WAC(writting across curriculum). With WAC students are able to have one on one sessions with English Professors to help improve their writting skills. The program also includes workshops for different parts of writing that people need help with. For example,a workshop can focus on MLA or creating a working thesis. Overall WAC is a really good program that has helped me in the past .

Campus Resources: Family Feel – Everyone here is very friendly and treat you like you are their sibling. I have made numerous friends in the short time I have been here just walking around saying hello to people walking by!

3 College Student

Overall Experience: I would have to say that my overall experience up to this point in time has been average and expected. Most teachers are good and average. The library is nice, but the lack of computers available is a HUGE problem. The campus is in decent shape, but the amount of smokers is pesky and smelly. Basically, there's nothing too wrong or too excellent. It's common for the positives to have a "but" attached to them.

Campus Resources: There are various resources available, but what they are and how to find them isn't explicitly given or guided to you. The school website is vague on what they are, how to find them, and how to get involved. The only time you see them on campus during the day is during noisy rally's that nobody has time for when going from class to class, and frankly, they disturb you during your day to day activities.

Student Body: The Student Life – American River's diversity in race, culture, and religion gives it a very unique way to learn about new things. They involve various students with activity and have groups you can form in order to learn about other.

Academic Experience: American River College is a very friendly and great environment for students to develop their academic skills and make new friends. The Professors are very genuine and kind heart with great desire to teach kids and help them through their steps of life. The staff and school service are great and very helpful. The class registration process is very smooth and very self explained and the college frequently sends out notification to inform students for the upcoming event in the campus. While the campus can be better but through historical descent of being the oldest campus in the Sacramento Region, its gives itself a great pride.

Academic Flexibility: This school has online, once a week, twice a week and off campus classes. This gave me the opportunity to go to school around my work schedule.

Campus Resources: Since I have been attending this college I have broadened my horizons. I have been able to talk to any Professor here about what my goals are and was given sound advice on how to achieve them. The Professors that I have encountered were very helpful in ways that were extremely enlightening. There is no other school that I would have picked that could have been better, I have received all that a student at my age could have wished for. I was treated like I could do anything that I set my mind to, and that is exactly what I am doing. The social scene here at ARC is very diverse, and easy to fit into. There are programs and college hours to help make your time here as easy to navigate as possible.

Tuition & Financial Aid: My Experience Since Going Back to College – I have been able to turn my whole life around since I have decided to get my degree. Financially I am dependent on the Pell Grant and loans to get me through. I intend to transfer to a four year college to pursue my B.A after I am finished here at American River College. I am grateful to the financial aid office for making it possible for me to achieve my long term dream of becoming a social worker and helping others.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Happy With Choice – Classes have been very informative and there is alot of help available on campus.

3 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: So Far So Good – So far I havent had any problems with my class schedule,so its pretty convenient for me being that going to school is my job.
