3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: I have sometimes struggled at American River College, simply because my opinions seem to differ greatly from some of my professors.

Academic Experience: American River College has one of the best theater programs in the area. The teacher put their entire hearts into what they do.

Campus Resources: It has been very easy for me to stick to my degree program here at American River College. I have mainly used the IGETC and Transferable worksheets they have available in the Counseling Center rather then counseling appointments. However I do recommend counseling appointments if you need them. Just expect to wait a few hours for your appointment if you are a walk in. Also, the Transfer Center is wonderful. The people who work there are very positive.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is very well priced to the quality of education I have obtained. This is for the theater apartment alone.

Career Services: I am transfering, and so far my units have transfered seamlessly. I also appreciate some of my theater professors who have really encouraged me to pursue what I want to do. I have mainly done the transfer work on my own by using the IGETC worksheet and student handbook.

Academic Flexibility: There's a TON of classes to choose from, so there is always a way to work them around your schedule.

Overall Experience: There's always something going on that makes you chuckle, in the same way you chuckle about a crazy uncle. Endearing and goofy.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Everyone on campus is friendly, the school is professional, and the professors are knowledgeable and passionate.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: The school offers a lot of job opportunities and will help to place you in a job if you go and meet with career services.

3 College Senior

Online Courses: The online courses tend to be FAR more demanding than the in-person classes.

4 College Senior

Student Body: There is a TON of diversity on campus, as to be expected from a community college.

4 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: Great value for the education! American River really tries their hardest to make college affordable for all of those who wish to attend.

4 College Senior

Career Services: The school really tries to work with you in order to ensure you are able to transfer to a university.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: The workload is about average for what you would expect from college courses, there's nothing over the top.

5 College Senior

Academic Experience: I have not had a bad professor yet. Most teach at the local university, so you know you're getting your money's worth. All of the professors are kind, willing to help, and passionate about what they teach.

Campus Resources: The library is high tech, has a large computer lab, and an extremely friendly staff. There is always some sort of campus activity happening, be it a club meet, a plant sale, or some sort of festival. There is also a brand new student center that is beautiful. The school is always improving the buildings so that they can be more high-tech.

3 College Junior

Career Services: Since this school doesn't have the major that I am interested in I will have to transfer to another school and get help from there with finding a job. As far as the availability to take prerequisites and general ed classes, I think this school will be very helpful when it comes to transferring.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: The school doesn't have specifically my major, but I can take the prerequisites for the program that I plan on applying to. My major is Sonography or Ultrasound Tech, but because there is no such a major, I had to chose Nursing.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: Class registration process is easy, the problems occur when a student has a late enrollment date and doesn't have any choice on what classes to take because most of them are already closed.

Campus Resources: The library is very organized and helpful at any time when needed. I enjoy spending my time studying outside on the patio whenever I have time to go there during the day.

4 College Freshman

Career Services: From individuals that I've spoken with in the past about their experiences, they have always described it to be a little exhausting and stressful, but easy to manage.

College Freshman

Academic Experience: My program focuses on African Americans, so it's very rich and filled with culture. The workload is no where near as hard as other programs, but with that, you will find that when you do work, it is extremely challenging because you are required to not only think and write, but to think and write with emotions, not logic. The curriculum is very intriguing and you are constantly learning something new. The faculty feels like a second home or second family. Everyone loves everyone and I don't think anyone would change a thing about the people. And the internship and job opportunities are very open because within our small, but intimate group, we are able to network and hook up really well with new and resourceful people.

College Freshman

Academic Experience: There is a very wide variety of academic programs provided at my college because not only is it a junior college, but it is a college that realizes it does not only cater to a few majors. The professors within my program are great, but other professors I have met, outside my program seem rather distant, nonchalant and unfriendly. The class registration process was very easy and smooth because the program hosts a meet and greet a few days before the beginning of each semester. And there are a wide variety of programs offered at my college.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I don't really pay tuition because financial aid covers everything, I have the BOG fee waiver and a few grants
