5 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: My experience at my school has been nothing but convenient. I do my work when I get the chance and the school works around me.

5 College Freshman

Online Courses: This is my second online school, and I must say the interface is straight forward.

Overall Experience: So far my overall experience at this school has been amazing.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Instructors are flexible with Active Duty schedules and deployments.

5 College Student

Academic Flexibility: You have flexibility in that you can sign in when you have time.

4 College Student

Online Courses: It differs in that it's flexible. Flexibility is key when you are an active duty military member

5 College Student

Overall Experience: Instructors are great at responding and helping when you reach out for help

3 College Student

Overall Experience: I can use this to further my education.

3 College Student

Academic Experience: You lack the community of the people you go to class with so its hard to get a sense of what your degree really is.

3 College Student

Overall Experience: Great if you can manage your own time well. No structure so if you need structure it isn't ideal.

5 College Student

Academic Experience: The information that I have been presented with has had real world application and allowed me to explore new ideas.

5 College Student

Overall Experience: This has been a huge help to me as I work full time and have a family. APUS has made going back to school a reality after not thinking a degree would be possible.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: The short classes are nice because I don't have to feel overloaded.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: Harder to remember to actually do the work

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I enjoy online courses because I can complete them while working full-time. I do miss the social aspect of a classroom setting, however. The workload is high because the same amount of work must be completed on your own so a portion of your week should be devoted to each class just the same as a regular class schedule, if possible. The professor/student relationship and peer-to-peer interactions are not the same as a traditional school. I prefer the more personal part of a classroom setting, as with online you only get feedback from the professor once or twice a week unless you specifically seek out help.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The majority of professors are very ready and willing to help at all times. A lot of them grade right away and provide personalized feedback to everything - forum posts, quizzes, and essays. However, once in a while the feedback from a professor will be very generic on all assignments and provokes a disinterest in putting forth more than the minimum effort.

The courses offered that you're allowed to sign up for are only the ones for your specific major. It would be nice to be able to take a class outside of the major once in a while simply out of interest for the subject, but the student could probably arrange that by calling the school.

The class sizes are a bit large to keep up with all the forum posts, but only 2-5 responses are required depending on the class, so the classes could be as large as they had interested students without there being much of a problem.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Due to the nature of an online school, I have not heard at all about internships, employers recruiting, nor have I looked into career services.

The reason for the three out of five review is that APUS holds periodic gatherings for students and alumni in different areas of America, which I think is a great way to allow students to connect as well as speak to alumni and staff in person.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I have not taken many classes towards my specific major as of this point - mainly general education courses - but the accounting and business classes I have begun seem to be informative with a below-average to average workload. It's nice to have classes which are not too hard or time-consuming to the point where I cannot take a full-schedule's worth of courses.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love being able to study online and work around a full-time work schedule, but I miss the social aspect of a brick-and-mortar school and the visual aspect of learning. Some online classes - College Trigonometry, for example - offer video lectures which practically match a classroom setting, where others rely solely on a textbook and forum posts.

My preference would be to go to a traditional school, but the low price of APUS and ability to study with a job are benefits which aren't easily matched.

Most of the teachers are very helpful and the forums provide an excellent medium to communicate with all classmates without social pressure such as that in a traditional school. I feel that there is more interaction between the students working online as compared to not online.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: After paying the $50 transfer fee, my school accepted my old credits with no problems.

5 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I love online courses because you can work at a specific pace and still have time in the day to get other things done. I can't afford to be a full-time student who goes to campus everyday, because I wouldn't be able to work. With online classes I can do both. It's different because you are not face-to-face with your classmates and teachers, but teachers are pretty good about responding to emails if you don't understand or happen to need help with something. Same thing for the communication with other students. People are always really nice and offer constructive criticism in whatever is being studied at the time.

4 College Sophomore

Career Services: I'm not sure if my school offers anything like job placement but there are counselors who are specialized in helping graduating students prepare to launch their careers.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: All of my teachers have been very nice and very helpful. Classes do move at a pretty face, yet steady pace, and every week we participate in graded forums where we get a topic to discuss not only with our teachers but our classmates as well. I think it's a good way to measure progress and to make sure everyone stays on the same track, and also a great way to see things from other perspectives.Class sizes are usually about 30 students per course, depending on the classes you are taking. I have always enjoyed my classes here.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I'm not sure if our school offers internship programs but it is something that I would like to look into. My school is accredited so it meets all of my career requirements when finding a teaching position in the state of Illinois.
