Overall Experience: I love American Military University because it gives me the opportunity to do assignments on my own time. It is difficult to learn some subjects because it is online but for the most part the professors are great at replying to any questions that you may have. There is a lot of reading and writing work so make sure you have set aside time to do it all!

Academic Flexibility: I am a first-time student and I have not needed to transfer credits. However, I did look into transfer options when I was thinking about transferring schools and found the process relatively easy. Some of my classes would transfer but not many.

Online Courses: Some of the user interfaces could use an update to be more modern and user friendly, but they are functional and fairly easy to use.

Career Services: I haven't had a chance to fully explore the career center and job prospects yet, but it definitely seems like it favors certain military-centric degrees over others.

Overall Experience: Course quality is excellent. Course loads and academic policies vary by professor, and all courses offer a variety of learning styles.

Overall Experience: The career center/career advisory group is always sending emails on new ways for students to connect to employers.

Academic Experience: My specific degree program (BA in English, concentration in writing) is great! A lot of different course options, a nice variety of writing and literature classes.

Overall Experience: This school is great for those individuals who want the education of a traditional brick-and-mortar school in a flexible, online environment. This learning environment is best for the self-taught and self-motivated. Hard work here will be rewarded!

Academic Flexibility: Credit transfer was so easy. The school honestly does it all. You fill out a form to allow them access to your records and they take it from there. As for flexibility in class, professors are really understanding, so if you're having trouble or if something pops up, they'll usually work with you to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Online Courses: Having gone to a brick and mortar school, I can tell you I prefer the online option. I can work classes around my life, which means if I need to I can complete assignments from my bed, or from a different city. The workload can be intense if you take multiple courses, especially because you end up with a LOT of work on weeks 4 and 8 for midterms/finals, but as long as you have good time management skills, you should be fine. Registering for classes is super easy, and if you can't get the hang of it, you can call the student service center, or open a chat box with them, and they'll help you out. Also, dropping classes is easy as well, and the service center will help you with that too! I've bee able to really connect with a few professors, and I've yet to come across one who I just couldn't work with. Every professor really seems to be geared towards student success, which is really great. As for interaction with other students, everyone is really nice, but you're not going to learn a bunch about their lives unless you put in the effort to ask.

Overall Experience: Classes are nearly always available, and they start monthly, so you can almost always find a way to work things to your advantage. So far I've had one iffy professor, but I've had him twice, I'll just avoid scheduling with him next time. There is also usually multiple sessions of a class, so you CAN choose your professors. The classes can be intense, but you learn a lot if you actually do the readings. Class style is all online, so if you have a hard time with that, this can get tricky, but self motivated students won't have any issues. And as for class sizes, I've never had more than 50 students in a class, and never more than 30 in a class that was directly for my major.

Academic Experience: All of the history classes are 8 weeks long. This is great because I can get through a class without getting sick of the material, but at the same time I'm always scrambling to complete midterms and finals. It's very reading intensive, which means you have to have a lot of self discipline. For me, it works wonderfully.

Overall Experience: Honestly, APUS has been wonderful. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because there can be a large gap between students and professors. That has a lot to do with it being an online university though, so just know what you're getting into.

Overall Experience: I like this school because it's flexible. The classes are 8 weeks and 16 week long classes depending if you want a fast pace or slow pace.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: The courses have a lot of valuable information. The professors are knowledgeable and accessible.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: This isn't quite relevant for a bachelor degree in psychology as higher education is recommended for career possibilities.

5 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: Transferring credits was easy. I had to dig up a few class syllabi for a few of the transfer classes, but the majority were accepted without such documentation. The classes have been incredibly flexible and allowed me to have options as to which specialty courses and electives I wanted to complete.

Online Courses: These classes are easier to register for because they do not fill up quickly or there may be less students competing for spots. The workload is moderate and easy to complete in the accelerated courses however the weekly reading is excessive and hard to keep up with. The professors are friendly and professional, most grade work quickly and provide excellent feedback. A few professors took a longer time to grade and didn't provide much feedback at all. The website is easy to navigate and provides all the necessary resources I needed.

Academic Experience: The psychology program offers a good survey of the world of psychology. The workload is manageable. The courses go by fast. The professors are attentive. The curriculum is relevant. The environment is completely online. There are no job opportunities or internship opportunities available through this program.

Overall Experience: American Public University has accelerated classes which are 100% online. This school allowed me to complete my degree faster with a flexible schedule that fit in with my life. The teachers have lots of wisdom to share and give great feedback to help you get the most out of your education. I would absolutely choose this school again. I just wish they offered the Masters degree program I need.
