4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The majority of professors are very ready and willing to help at all times. A lot of them grade right away and provide personalized feedback to everything - forum posts, quizzes, and essays. However, once in a while the feedback from a professor will be very generic on all assignments and provokes a disinterest in putting forth more than the minimum effort.

The courses offered that you're allowed to sign up for are only the ones for your specific major. It would be nice to be able to take a class outside of the major once in a while simply out of interest for the subject, but the student could probably arrange that by calling the school.

The class sizes are a bit large to keep up with all the forum posts, but only 2-5 responses are required depending on the class, so the classes could be as large as they had interested students without there being much of a problem.

Overall Experience: Due to the nature of an online school, I have not heard at all about internships, employers recruiting, nor have I looked into career services.

The reason for the three out of five review is that APUS holds periodic gatherings for students and alumni in different areas of America, which I think is a great way to allow students to connect as well as speak to alumni and staff in person.

Academic Experience: I have not taken many classes towards my specific major as of this point - mainly general education courses - but the accounting and business classes I have begun seem to be informative with a below-average to average workload. It's nice to have classes which are not too hard or time-consuming to the point where I cannot take a full-schedule's worth of courses.

Overall Experience: I love being able to study online and work around a full-time work schedule, but I miss the social aspect of a brick-and-mortar school and the visual aspect of learning. Some online classes - College Trigonometry, for example - offer video lectures which practically match a classroom setting, where others rely solely on a textbook and forum posts.

My preference would be to go to a traditional school, but the low price of APUS and ability to study with a job are benefits which aren't easily matched.

Most of the teachers are very helpful and the forums provide an excellent medium to communicate with all classmates without social pressure such as that in a traditional school. I feel that there is more interaction between the students working online as compared to not online.

Academic Flexibility: After paying the $50 transfer fee, my school accepted my old credits with no problems.

5 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I love online courses because you can work at a specific pace and still have time in the day to get other things done. I can't afford to be a full-time student who goes to campus everyday, because I wouldn't be able to work. With online classes I can do both. It's different because you are not face-to-face with your classmates and teachers, but teachers are pretty good about responding to emails if you don't understand or happen to need help with something. Same thing for the communication with other students. People are always really nice and offer constructive criticism in whatever is being studied at the time.

Career Services: I'm not sure if my school offers anything like job placement but there are counselors who are specialized in helping graduating students prepare to launch their careers.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: All of my teachers have been very nice and very helpful. Classes do move at a pretty face, yet steady pace, and every week we participate in graded forums where we get a topic to discuss not only with our teachers but our classmates as well. I think it's a good way to measure progress and to make sure everyone stays on the same track, and also a great way to see things from other perspectives.Class sizes are usually about 30 students per course, depending on the classes you are taking. I have always enjoyed my classes here.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I'm not sure if our school offers internship programs but it is something that I would like to look into. My school is accredited so it meets all of my career requirements when finding a teaching position in the state of Illinois.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The classes I have taken thus far have been at an accelerated pace, so I finish a semester's worth of classes in just two months! The teachers that I have had have been absolutely wonderful. I am an early childhood education major, and each class has been geared towards a specific skill or idea that is important for this career path. The workload is a little more than a regular university or community college, but all my teachers have always been willing to work with me if I had a deadline issue, and thus far I have not had any. I work two jobs and am still able to get all of my work done.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I've received 2 certificates from American Public University already, so I have completed 2 years of college so far. I think this online school is a great choice because it is one of the cheapest and most affordable online schools there. It is especially great for people who have not been to school for awhile, and the classes work around your schedule if you cannot devote all your time to schooling. I think this school is a wonderful choice for anyone looking for an online education.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Classes are somewhat flexible, no major frustrations.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: The workload is heavy but that's what happens when you pursue a masters degree.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Quality of courses is good and professors are professinal. Class style is online.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Hoping to find an MBA internship while pursuing this degree.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Learned a lot of good things. The forums help you a lot learning from other professionals.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: The application process is great and this school is very affordable with a great accreditation for the MBA. On the downside, the online classroom environment is extremely disorganized. Too many tabs, no clear path, too much information in different sections of the site. I got my bachelor's degree at another online school and it was a lot better and easier to use. Definetely something they need to work on. I also dislike that they have multiple deadlines per week instead of just one. Makes it harder to remember and decreases flexibility. But I do like that they give you the chance to accelerate by taking two classes at a time. Overall it is not a perfect but good school.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: The only frustration that I have had till this point is that my instructor did not grade all of my assignments. This in turn greatly dropped my GPA. I'm currently in the process of disputing my grade with AMU.

5 College Junior

Online Courses: I have always liked online courses because all of the information is presented upfront. With having viability on my assignments and crucial due dates allowed me to plan my assignments around my military schedule. The application was free and, I was admitted into the school within days. A significant portion of the classes with AMU have complementary text-books that are offered through the virtual store.

3 College Junior

Career Services: Honestly, I haven't looked into this too much, I really can't offer an opinion.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: The professors were very helpful and they adhered to responding to the students within the 48 hour time limit required by AMU. The courses were very organized and straightforward I regards to assignment completion dates.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: AMU is affordable, In addition, to being a LOI instruction which reduces its admission to align with the Army tuition assistance guidelines. After I complete my graduate degree with AMU, I'm looking at applying for my doctorial degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, the accreditation with AMU has facilitated the ease of applying for specialized educational programs.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: My initial course load was working towards my graduate degree in Criminal Justice. The curriculum was easy to follow and classroom was very interactive between the students and instructors. The only complaint that I had was that some of the instructors required students to make their discussion board posting early in the week which made some classes a little more difficult to manage with work and family obligations.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I have enjoyed my learning experience with AMU thus far. I have completed classes during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan the professors were helpful the entire way.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: It being online so many of these things are hard to do, don't know any alumni to network with at this school.
