Overall Experience: It feels like a regular experience for me. Nothing really went all that wrong, other than issues with a website upgrade. But then the students were reimbursed with tuition credit because of the issues that occurred during the first weeks of the upgrade. If that doesn't say that the school isn't understanding of their students and care about them, I don't know what will.

Academic Flexibility: I...procrastinate a lot. Usually saving everything for the last day before even working on it (except large projects). Even still, I am able to view archives for classroom chats that can help, even if it points towards a research topic. This simply means that the rest of the time, I could be doing work, as the courses have been just that flexible to allow me to procrastinate. *My capabilities do not reflect others; get the work done and try not to procrastinate.

Online Courses: It feels similar to a traditional classroom, of course if you overlook the whole electronic focus. I mean, even if you aren't physically in a classroom next to classmates and an instructor, you still feel like you are near them creating relationships, even if only through text. You can notice if someone cares about what they post, or if they only care about passing. You can see someone's effort they put forth, whether in their posts or in group projects. You can see if the instructor is caring and understanding, or just doing their job.

I personally like it when the instructor present themselves with an identity, with their own preferences, what they like (outside of education). I mean, one instructor admitted he likes World of Warcraft, and posted an anime image in live chat as a inspiration post. It makes me as an individual feel more comfortable (and not just because I like the same things) as it shows the instructor to be more...real, and feel more trustworthy, if that makes any sense.

Career Services: The opportunities are available for anyone to utilize. I personally have not yet utilized any, though I have received notifications and help for resumes and job applications and interviews and the like.

Academic Experience: Software development and Analysis seems to be more about the Analysis part of Software Development. It isn't focuses so much on developing software as much as it is on analyzing what it takes to develop software. Which isn't a bad thing, because I personally love analysis and understanding.

I have always been a person that attempts to solve things himself, and never really ask for help, unless I don't even have a starting point. Though, with that said, I constantly receive messages from instructors and advisers if I have any questions or need help with anything, tutoring and the like. So the help is there even if I don't utilize it.

Overall Experience: Many experiences in an online environment reminded me of a physical environment. Some overachieving students, some that can't even do the minimum. Some caring and/or knowledgeable instructors, some that don't care about the students' successes. Some instructors that are tech-savvy (live chat capabilities), and some that can't even resize a window (in an IT-centric class nonetheless). In other words, it feels like real people and having real experiences with these real people.

AIU Online is enjoyed by students that have a variety of diverse schedules, backgrounds, and career goals. The school is a wonderful choice for those that want an accredited college degree but have limited mobility and heavy time constraints. The Instructors here are well prepared, enthusiastic, and eager to broaden the minds of their students. At AIU Online, many peers turn into friends, teachers into mentors, and students into scholars.
