Health & Safety

Health & Safety: We don't have much campus crime. It's an all girl school which helps lower sexual assault. There is a security number. As for health there aren't many services. We do have a fitness center, however, it's VERY outdated.

Health & Safety: Safety and security are very big on my campus, you are able to see the on campus security regularly. If you need to reach them to ask a question they are more then willing to have you in their office to answer any questions. Security's phone number is found through out the buildings. We also have the blue light safety system on campus which is great to have in situations where students feel uncomfortable or unsafe going to their car or to a building, security is more than willing to escort you to where you are needing to go on campus. The fact that only student who live on campus can assess the buildings is also helpful and creates a sense of security for all the individuals living there. I have always felt safe on campus and never had any problems that the security team didnt have a plan for or an idea on how to resolve.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The nurses office is always open and the campus is by a hospital. It is an all girl school so sexual assault does not happen as much but it could. And the teachers and the cas are always there to help.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have never experienced any form of safety concerns on campus.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: There is always security patrolling the campus, as well as parking areas. There is a security guard available if a student needs an escort to their vehicle after a night class.

Safety and Security personnel are willing to do whatever they need to to keep the students safe on campus. And being an all-women's college, safety is extremely important. The Alverno campus is quite compact and extremely well lit, so there really aren't many unsafe, hidden, dark places. However, if a student feels uncomfortable walking anywhere on campus, security officers do offer escorts. This is especially nice for students who have late classes, some that end at 10 p.m., and have parked in the parking structure. Security also has quite a presence on campus, and you'll regularly see officers as they make their rounds through each building during their shifts. They also make rounds through the dorms, but not as frequently as the rest of campus, which is nice because resident students have more privacy.

Another typical activity you'll see safety officers doing is helping students who lock themselves out of their rooms. From midnight until 8 a.m., an officer staffs Austin Hall's front desk. The security officers at Alverno are also easy to approach and personable.
