Off-Campus Dining: Campus is located in a very populated area of the city so there are lots of fast food options, several pubs, and a handful of sit down restaurants

4 College Junior

Administration: Staff is always willing to help students out, whether they know the answer or not. They are there for encouragement, ask questions and give support and I believe this is why I love this campus so much

3 College Junior

Athletics: People participate in them however they aren't a focal point on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: There are several different options for living off campus with income based options as well making it affordable. Some areas aren't the most safe but they are affordable, the nicer more safe housing is quite a bit more expensive but has several different amenities.

4 College Junior

Administration: I don't know how strict administration is regarding student social lives, but I do know that there are very strict guidelines in place for academic dishonesty and attendance.

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live near campus, but there are always signs showing available spaces for rent very close to campus.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: There is always security patrolling the campus, as well as parking areas. There is a security guard available if a student needs an escort to their vehicle after a night class.

Majors: The curriculum for the nursing program is set up differently than at most schools, we learn by "population", for example "Healthy population" is generally the high school to middle-aged population. By learning by population, we are more well-rounded in our experience as we develop into nurses. We are also required to participate in volunteer projects around the city and we are encouraged to study abroad (Alverno offers long term and short term commitments for study abroad) to learn how other countries utilize nurses. Learning in this way gives a very diverse perspective and helps us learn to look at different ways of life, which becomes a very important aspect of a nursing career.

Local Area: The community itself around campus is good, very supportive, and full of hard-working families, however, if you venture too far off campus the areas get to be dangerous especially for people from out of town who do not know the areas to avoid. The downtown area is great there is a lot to do an see, but again, unless students are aware of the "safer" areas, it can be dangerous to venture off campus. If I were to stay in this area, which is not in my plans, I would stay very close to campus or downtown, but I wouldn't even consider most areas in Milwaukee.

Athletics: There are several sports offered on campus but they are not very well advertised. I only know about sporting events on campus if I purchase a schedule for the school year.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: The facility is pretty average with a very nice computer lab and student help centers.

3 College Junior

Most students who have made it through the majority of their years at Alverno say that they cannot imagine being anywhere else. In fact, many students who leave Alverno to go to other schools because of finances or because they didn't think Alverno was a good fit, often come back. Alverno is not just a school—it's a place that teaches women to think outside of the box and to understand themselves. It becomes a home for many people. Alverno graduates go on to become important women in their workplaces, communities, churches, and homes. The College offers students a unique opportunity to take a really good look at themselves and say, "Who am I?" and "Is this who I really want to be?"

Most people say that going to college is an investment in your future, but coming to Alverno is an investment in not only your future, but also your community's future. Almost all students who graduate from Alverno get a job within six months of graduation. Its graduates are competent, well-rounded, and have made a name both locally and internationally. At Alverno, students are pushed to analyze documents, literature, and one another. They are also encouraged to continuously self-assess and focus on their success.
