5 College Freshman

Diversity: To put it simply, the most accepting place I've ever been. Alverno College has been a second home to me from the moment I first walked in, where everyone and anyone is accepted for who you are and to help you explore who you can become.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the food places are fast food or chains which are close by.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Many students commute at my school and few live in the dorms. Many students drive from an hour away and drive with other students.

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: I have never heard of anyone doing or taking drugs at my school.

3 College Junior

Athletics: There are certain students that are involved in all sports on campus, otherwise I never hear anything about how the sports teams are doing or when their games are.

4 College Junior

Technology: The computer labs are open everyday and stay open very late during the school week. Depending what classes you take, your printing quota may be used up before the semester ends. You can get wireless network access everywhere on campus except the austin hall dorm.

4 College Junior

Academics: Being a nursing student is difficult. The workload is very heavy. For the nursing program students must get an 80% or higher in classes to pass, and two drops or fails equal being kicked out of the nursing program. The facility or nursing building is old and outdated, but currently a new nursing building is being built with brand new simulators. I love that each semester you have the opportunity to have your clinicals in a different location. Senior year second semester everyone is put into and internship. I have heard from many students, usually graduates get a job within 3-4 months.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Everyone at the school represents their own unique style. The school is ethnically diverse. Nursing students do not have a social life. Typically other students are very friendly and willing to help.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I have never had any issues with safety and security on campus. There have been a few problems with stealing. Police and workers from the school are constantly walking around campus on rounds to make sure everything is ok.

4 College Junior

Local Area: The school being in Milwaukee means that there is always a place to go out. There is Miller Park, lots of stores: Target, Walmart, shoe stores, dinning.

4 College Junior

Administration: The school has rules, so that students do their best to succeed. In the nursing program students must achieve an 80% or higher to pass classses. For all classes two absences equal you getting dropped from the course.

1 College Junior

Greek Life: I believe that there is only one sorority on campus and it is for honors students.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I never see anyone talk or use drugs on campus. Alverno has a very strict no illegal drugs policy. Mostly everyone is so focused on studying instead of partying all the time. If anyone were using illegal drugs on campus, then they would get expelled from the school immediately. Alverno is a very clean college.

3 College Freshman

Academics: I think that the most popular program is nursing. It is a very tough program. You must be able to get into the program, and when your in the program, you can't get no less than 80% on tests otherwise you either fail or get kicked out of the program. I heard that Alverno has one of the toughest nursing programs in the state of Wisconsin.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: We have parking spots that we can park our cars if we have one, and were right on a bus line. Usually it is local transportation, but if necessary buses can go downtown. Cost is fairly cheap via buss but if you own your own car then it can be someone expensive.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There's tons of fast food restaurants and some sit down restaurants fairly close to school. Most of these places are inexpensive, open late and a vast variety of options but not always the best quality.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: There's many computers available at school and the labs tend to stay open pretty late which is great. There is a limit of how much free print each students get but the printers are programed to print double sided which helps save a lot of paper. The internet connection is fair, pretty fast but if trying to use it on your phone it will get old very fast, you have to reenter the wifi password every time your screen turns off.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are many apartments surrounding Alverno which is located in a descent location with a lower crime rate. This cost of rent seems far and the area surrounding the school isn't too busy so there's a lot of parking, some streets are only two hour parking limits which could lead to some tickets.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: If you're looking for a night life Alverno is probably not the school for you. There isn't a bar/club scene near, unless you want to drive downtown. But, if you are going to school and don't want distractions from school work then this is the school to go to.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: I haven't really heard any complaints about school policies that affect student and their social lives beside no men allowed in the dorms, I believe they may be able to stay until a certain time actually.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: All the building are attached underground so you never have to go outside if it's snowing or raining which is usually always occurring in Wisconsin, its great!

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Since there are no guys allowed in the dorms, and the dorms have very strict quiet hours not much drinking or drug use is done on campus. There is also a no smoking on the campus grounds which is taken very serious by the security men that will drive around campus and ticket you if caught smoking. This environment at school is a very chill and scholarly environment, no crazy parties or drunk students stumbling around campus.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Going to an all girl school isn't the college life most people dream of when they are still in high school, it's better for some. At my school there isn't much of a campus life, being a private school and all girls the class sizes are very small and many don't dorm. There is no boys allowed in dorms but can come to the school events. Most student will just go home after class and not stay stick around on the weekends or night. This make the college less fun because nothing is going on to bring us all together. I do like how friendly everyone is too each other which surprised me since it's all girls, but there's no boys to start the drama which is great. There is a mall a few blocks away from the campus which I love and go to all the time, also the brewer stadium is another big attraction a lot of the students will go to. But other than that there's not much to do around school especially if you live on campus without a car.

5 College Sophomore

Parking: They have multiple parking lots and parking structures.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload is a lot but the college had so many resources to help us get through and really learn the information that is needed. The professor's interact with the students on so many levels , that it really make your head spin. They have you call them by there first name. They will help you to understand the load of work. They give so much time and attention that I love it.
