Guys & Girls: The small town atmosphere allows you to make a lot of friends quickly. However, it also makes sure that EVERYONE is in your business. Anything happens, anything, and everyone will find out in a few days. Also, Alma College students have this habit of being really really really driven and at the same time really dysfunctional. Of course, there are exceptions, but it's funny to see the top of the class, involved in a thousand clubs and activities also partying the hardest on the weekends. There isn't much racial diversity and nearly everyone is Christian, but there are cliches for pretty much any personality or interest. The close dorm rooms make for very lazy dressing: a lot of people come to class in sweats.

Campus Housing: Alma is very ambitious. They want to update and renovate constantly, but each project takes forever to get finished. The new buildings are supposed to be very nice, but older ones are falling apart. Many of my friends joke about how little space there is: they say that they try to fit in as many people in a room as possible. However, no matter where you live, you can get to class in about 10 minutes, so that's a huge perk.

Scholarships: Alma provides a lot of scholarships to help you attend. Of course, since the price tag is +$40K, you'll still probably need to get loans. When the process goes well, it goes awesome, but when it hits a hitch, it's a big pain and takes forever.

Off-Campus Dining: For any quality or unique dining, most students are required to go to Mt. Pleasant, home of Central Michigan University's campus. A bigger and more diverse school goes hand-in-hand with more diversity in cuisine.

Majors: I am extremely with the music program at Alma College. The faculty at Alma are some of the leading teachers in music as well as leading scholars in the world! I would highly recommend Alma's music program for anyone who wishes to either study or perform music!

Majors: Getting into the program isn't difficult in the least. All that is required for admission into Alma is a satisfactory ACT score and high school GPA. Admission into the music program requires an audition in a student's area of interest.

Administration: In the past few years during my attendance at Alma College, the policies regarding Greek life have become more and more strict. Open parties every Saturday night were a regular social event. Students from each fraternity would go to the student life office a week prior to a planned event/party where they would sign a form along with 4 other representatives from the fraternity. The student life office would give the representatives a bundle of wrist bands -- one bunch one color for those who would attend being under the age of 21 and the other bunch for students 21 and older. On the evening of the party, the five representatives were assigned to work security and monitor behavior and any smuggling of alcohol or other drugs, while a security guard would roam the fraternity houses. This policy is no longer in existence due to too many minors in possession of alcohol during an event. Instead of this regulated policy, fraternity houses continue to have parties under no regulation, thus creating a chaos in the event of a problem during a party.

Academics: Sometimes I speak to students on campus and many feel like the academic standards are not realistic for all students.

Academics: The pre-physical therapy program is great. It looks like it is a very hard program in which few students will be able to succedd in.

Health & Safety: The town is so small that it is easy for security and local police to get involved.

Local Area: There is nothing to do in Alma. In certain situations, Alma College is so strict and small that students do not have different activities to do.

Athletics: The sport facilities on campus are ok, they can be better. I feel like the school does not value their sports teams as they should. Sometimes I feel like they don't care how much success each sport team has. If the teams are mediocre, they're fine with being ok.

Administration: It's a strict academic school. As long as you focus on your studies, you will be a successful student at Alma College.

Campus Housing: If there are problems, they take forever to fix

Weather: Alma is a small campus, so school rarely closes.

Scholarships: It takes a lot for the financial aid department to work with you for outside scholarships.

Local Area: I have a lot of family in the area so I get to see them a lot.

Diversity: I do not see any segregation on camous. Everyone gets along with each other.

Party Scene: I do not go out often, and when I do it is a hit or miss night.

Parking: It's so expensive and still hard to find a spot.

Greek Life: Greek life is so big on campus. Almost everyone is involved.

Off-Campus Dining: There isn't much of it, but what's available is good.
